Northwestern just got a HUGE recruit/transfer to come in: Hunter Johnson from Clemson. He was the #1 rated Pro-style QB in the 2017 class, and is only transferring because Clemson has what some people call "the best QB recruit in history" coming into school this year.
All in all, this is a huge coup for Pat Fitzgerald. The kid will have 3 years of eligibility starting in 2019.
I thought Hack was suppose to be "the best QB recruit in history".
Not even close. This kid was the #1 recruit in the country on all services, rated as high as could be rated on pretty much every service. Highest ranked QB since recruiting rankings started.
Hack was definitly high up, but not like this kid.
Though as Hack showed, doesn't mean anything unless he produces on the field. But the way practice went and what people saw in the spring game... Hunter knew the writing was on the wall.
Win Win. Kid gets a great education and a chance to play. Add in a very good coach in Fitzgerald.
Big difference between a degree from NW and Clem's son.
I think in the past that was true, but I don't think where people went to undergrad means much anymore. It's all about graduate school now, if you want the good white collar positions those degrees go for you'll be competing against Yale Law, Harvard Medical, Duke Business, etc.
Without a masters degree, in many businesses it's moot where you went to undergrad. Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part there isn't much difference between Michigan State, UCLA, Alabama, or Stetson. That said, a Northwestern degree probably gives you a leg up on getting into a better graduate school... so there's that.
