"While speaking to around 100 local business leaders Thursday morning, per Doug Lesmerises of Cleveland.com, Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day said the program will need $13 million spent in NIL deals to maintain a competitive roster. Day said his estimate was based on conversations with recruits and their families, and it factors in rates for specific positions, including $2 million for premier quarterbacks and $1 million for top offensive tackles and pass rushers. "
Yep, it's out of control. What's next sal...er...NIL caps?
Professional football.
The real nonsense is any athlete thinking they bring money or viewers to college football, when it's the other way around.
You put the starters for Georgia in the USFL or some other feeder league for the NFL, they dont get much money or bring in a ton of viewers. You let their backups play for Georgia? That stadium is still packed and Georgia fans are still watching
If you want to play college sports this is what you get in a scholarship, If an education ain’t good enough go do something else. Y’all know ole southern can be a little socialist sometimes so I say give full scholarships to all athletes and a little spending money and let it go at that. If that ain’t good enough go do something else. All college athletes men and women get the same thing and like I said, if you don’t like it, go do something else.
I wholeheartedly agree, Southern. Unfortunately, I think it's too late. The horse is out of the barn!
I didn’t think this post come through so I posted it again but on another thread…sorry
This young man seems to have a good head on his shoulders.
