I know this is the football forum and this is hockey, but I think it's more about sports in general.

This playoff expansion is getting ridiculous, now the NHL has 24 out of 32 teams make the playoffs? WTF is the regular season even for then? 24 teams... really? Seems like it's becoming a participation trophy.

I know the NHL has always allowed a lot of teams into the playoffs, but the recent expansions just seem a bit much.

Lol, I know that’s right Roam back in the day we had an 8-2 record and missed the playoffs and my sons football team went 4-6 and made the playoffs. These regions around here now have 8 team I believe when back in the 80’s we had 22 teams in a region. Time have changed so we just have to deal with it lol. My point is the everybody gets a trophy has gone from little league to professional sports lol

I feel the pain, lol.  Remember when a bowl invite was really something to be proud of?  Today's "participation award syndrome" applies at all level of sports.  Reminds me of the locally sponsored "golf tournaments" when they announce the prizes at the end of the day (longest drive on hole #12, closest to the pin on #7, loudest fart on #17, etc).  It would take less time if they'd announced the 3 golfers that didn't win a prize and let the other 77 that did rush the awards table and claim their prize!
