I'm always surprised when the announce the players and the colleges they come from how many are from minor colleges and how many don't identify a college. Tonight for the Seahawks:
Quinton Jefferson THE Woodland Hill HS (making fun of Ohio State I guess) went to Maryland
KJ Wright Olive Branch HS went to Mississippi State
Bobby Wagner Ontario California went to Utah State
My guess is they didn’t graduate and don’t have a good relationship with the university they attended?
Any former PSU players embarrassed to say THE Penn State University?
“When we started doing it, we’d tell guys to state their name and college,” Gaudelli said. “There were guys like Jared Allen who did his daycare center. There were people who did ‘home schooled.’ There were some guys who had a beef with their college when they left and decided to give their props to their high school, or maybe they had a better experience in high school. So we always let them use which school they wanted to reference. I remember Charles Woodson used to say, ‘Mr. Woodson. You know the school,’ when he was a young guy with the Raiders. I think Cris Carter was the first guy to say, ‘THE Ohio State University,’ then that caught on.” - Fred Gaudelli - Sunday Night Football Producer

Yeah, I actually remember it well. He was thrown off the team before the bowl game, Paterno announce that he wasn't going to class and it wasn't fair to the rest of the team because he was going to fail his courses.
Jurevicius had a rough time of it, and was more pissed at the situation then Paterno. If my memory serves... Jurevicius had a few family members and a childhood friend all pass away in the same year, and he admitted he did not handle it well at all. But he did say that his family would always come first, and if it's a choice between supporting them or going to class he would choose his family every time.
I remember this because I am a Giants fan, and when they went to the Superbowl in 2001 with him and Kerry Collins they did a big piece on it. Joe's final words of the segment were "I have a lot of respect for Joe Paterno, don't think that I don't... but we have no relationship"
