So yesterday some of you asked where Tsuga was. Tsuga and I have become friends off the board and keep in touch via e-mail as well as with MB and Cave.  I had e-mailed back and forth with him earlier in the day and he told me he took a spill on the ice. He said he fell pretty hard and hit his head. I didn't feel it was appropriate to put his business out there so I didn't say anything.

Tonight I got an e-mail from him but, it was actually from his wife. She said it was ok to let everyone know so below is the transcript from the e-mail. I underlined and bolded some lines that pretty much tells you the kind of guy Tsuga is!! His wife is going to keep me updated and I will relay info as I get it. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers!!

Hello Navylion, I'm Tsuga's wife XXXX.  We ended up taking him to the hospital AFTER the PSU game.  He ended up with a separated shoulder, broken elbow, two cracked ribs a punctured lung and a concussion.  Apparently he fell twice, once on Monday and again on Tuesday.  They think he broke his elbow and ribs and separated his shoulder on Monday and then punctured his lung coming back home.  The stubborn old fart never said a word to me about it.  He slipped on the ice Tuesday carrying wood in thats when they think he got his concussion.

If you want to relay the message on to his buddies I know he wont mind.  He's supposed to be laid up for a few weeks but I don't think he'll rest.  Our grandson and daughter are coming in on Friday to help out around here and his brother will be coming up from Georgia to stay with us and keep an eye on him. I cant believe he waited until after the game to say anything. Get this, they found a piece if shrapnel in his shoulder too.  It had been there for over 50 years now.

Thank you SO MUCH for thinking and asking about him.  Im here with him now and he said to tell all the guys he said "howdy".  He's blessed to have a man like you as his friend.

If you would like, I can keep you posted on how he's doing

I've never met the man, but after these years of talking PSU football with added tongue in cheek humor, I certainly know he is a true man that I would be honored to call Friend.  Get well old man and have a great new year!!  And to think I get all whiny from a hangnail - what a guy!

P.S. I know remoh will never buy the bit about the shrapnel! But I'm sure tsuga along with the rest of us couldn't care less what "homer" believes or doesn't believe!

Wow! That was unexpected news but I’m very happy tsuga is recovering.  Thank you navylion for keeping us in the loop. As for you tsuga, clearly ice is not your friend so PLEASE....no more Peggy Fleming imitations! See you when you feel better and hope that is soon.

Hey Guys,

Im wrapping up a few loose ends here and then I'll be flying into Portland later today.  My Grandmother says that the Drs think he may have hit the tractor bucket when he fell on Tuesday and that is what did the most damage.  Apparently, he was out looking for sheds on Monday and that is when he broke his elbow and separated his shoulder. Details are a bit sketchy as to when and where are the injuries took place.  My grandmother says he is still very groggy and is somewhat incoherent right now but there all certain that will pass shortly and he'll be home Saturday or Monday.

I'll pass along all the well wishes to him and let him know you guys are thinking about him.

Navylion, MB: thanks for taking the lead on this.  I know he'll b*tch about the attention but he'll get over it.

Thanks Guys

Good luck... I didn't know you were related to Tsuga? Hope your father gets well soon. (I'm assuming father, apologies if I'm wrong)

Was he really looking for sheds or did he have that tractor fired up and clearing a shooting lane in the backyard? Tell him Mt Nittany is going to need a dragger next Saturday so he needs to be healed by then!

All jokes aside, I wish Tsuga a speedy recovery and prayers that he get's back to 100%!

Just heard from tsuga's wife, updating on how the "ole coot" is doing.  I'll give you a brief excerpt and you can judge for yourself.

"Not that it really matters how and when, but the important thing to know about my hubby is he's feeling ornery enough to argue with the Dr about when and how it happened.  And in his words " he's not going to let some snot nosed Dr tell him how he injured himself".  "He's the one who's ass is on the bed and he ought to know how he got himself there".

Enough said!😁

tsuga stated in no uncertain terms that he is leaving the hospital this weekend regardless of what the Dr's advise.

I just came from the VA hospital.  The Dr said he can go home on Monday.  Grandpa said he's going home tomorrow with or without his signature.  My Uncle is here with him now and they're on even grounds since both PSU and UGA lost their bowl games.....in other words, they're talking to one another.

On a side note: His resident is a graduate of Syracuse and the other man sharing his room is a Notre Dame fan.  You guys really need to hear the trash talking that's going on between the three of them.  When I was there he commented to his roomate that "you're laying over there with a tube up your d*ck and I guarantee that you're harder now than Notre Dame's schedule was this past year".  My grandmother isnt impressed.  He told the resident that Syracuse hasnt been relevant since McNabb graduated.
