About the same time we lose 4* 2022 TE commit Holden Staes.

I can appreciate a kid leaving when the coach, in this case the tight end coach, that recruited him leaves for another opportunity. Does anybody know if our new OC utilizes the TE as a receiver more than a pass catcher? Is this as big a loss as one might think on first read? Inquiring old farts want to know.

@lakerie Lake watch the presser of the new OC I posted in the snow day thread. Some intriguing thing came out of the IMO.

I watched Texas play a few times and I believe they did use the TE quite a bit

@psuinhawaii

Although he did officially de-commit, I don't believe he ruled out PSU as an option, just wants to explore more options.

Thanks Navy. I think this is what I heard in the presser about TE's and fullbacks. He likes having the big bodies to create gaps for the run game and suggests to me he likes a blocker type especially in those schemes. On the other hand and if I heard him correctly, he likes a fast pace, downfield game using fast players in space to keep defense off balance and deny defense communication. I'm not exactly sure how that involves the TE but would think that position is critical in short yardage, middle of he field schemes. One question that came up was about Sean Clifford and I didn't hear him give assurances he might be his guy under center either. Anyway, this was my take aways from the presser (and thanks for posting) but then again, I don't pretend that my football acumen as great as most on this site. I would like to think that where I shine is in my extraordinary good looks and sadly all here are unable to appreciate that .

One important thing I got from watching is that he 100% feels a system should adapt to the players you have, not the other way around.
