Nice. He sounds really athletic. Took his team to a state title as a first year starter.

Really?  I just don’t get excited about a kid that lives that far from Pennsylvania. Let me know when a player from the northeast commits.

Woah, the kid is certainly athletic... as a junior QB the kid ran a 4.54 40 and had 1000 yards rushing to go with around 3000 yards through the air.

44 TDs to only 8 INTs. Not too shabby.

There isn’t a very deep talent pool of top QBs in the northeast this recruiting cycle. They have to go where the talent is. Getting  a visit, much less a verbal commitment, from a kid from a NV powerhouse is no small task. I realize it isn’t in writing, but Franklin and staff certainly can identify talent early in the process and get them to campus for a visit.

Absolutely correct 99.  This is the first time in 20 years that PA didn't have a QB sign with a FBS school.  The class of 2020 isn't any better.   21 looks good.....we'll have to give the kid a pass though in his announcement..."University of Penn State"??  come on kid!

Sky, who cares where the kid is from or where he played in high school. Big time programs pull talent in from all over the country and really it's almost essential these days to in order to compete with them. I think it's another testament of Franklin's recruiting prowess. I'm just surprised this kid isn't more highly rated. The combination of athletic ability and stats look great.

I don’t care where the athlete played high school football. When Joe Paterno had his best teams, the players were primarily from PA. Franklin needs to keep every PA stud here. Time will tell but my hunch is that kids from the west coast and the south won’t last long in central PA.

This isn’t the 80’s. The talent in PSU’s region is hit or miss some years with PA talent declining the past few years. The top teams in the country recruit nationally. Franklin is doing that. You can’t fault him for that.

You also can’t fault him for locking down the top talent in PA. In fact, he is recruiting PA far better than Paterno did in his last decade at PSU. According to 24/7, Franklin’s first recruiting class in 2015, he reeled in 8 of the top 11 prospects from PA. In the 2018 class, he landed 7 of the top 12 PA recruits. On top of that, he has gotten the top PA prospect multiple times with guys like Barkley, Sanders/Menet,  and Parsons. You can criticize Franklin for other things if you want, but recruiting isn’t an area that is up for much debate.

I would have to agree with sky. I asked myself the same thing.  After looking at his recruiting profile, something seems off.  How many offers did he receive out west? I only see a few out west.  If you have more information that I missed, please share . I want to see it.

Penn State just isn't that big time program right now.

Welcome aboard. He comes from a highly touted high school program in Bishop Gorman with a history of developing college ready talent. Does any one see Micah being moved to another position considering his athleticism in the event PSU signs another qb in this class?

Murray does the 3* have anything to do with being from LV? Don’t know if a lot of good football players come from that state?

Not necessarily true Southern.  Google is your friend . Google is a very powerful tool for reliable information.

For the record, I think James Franklin is a good coach. No doubt his area of strength is recruiting. When I was in college, most of the students that transferred out lived far away. Looks like this kid from Vegas is good. I hope he doesn’t get homesick.  Anyway, we all need to wait and see if he signs.

I agree again . Franklin is putting together some great recruiting classes . The first month of football for 2019 will be great for falling asleep.

LMAO, somehow becoming a team that recruits nationally is a bad thing? I guess QB Michael Johnson Jr. wasn't a big get in 2019 because he's from Oregon?

In what world is it bad to recruit kids from all over the nation? It is exactly what top programs do. I swear, damned if you do and damned if you don't. Recruit just your state and people complain that you don't have national appeal, actually recruit kids nationally and they complain that they aren't local. 😂😂😂😂

Roam, seems like a great athlete and get for Franklin.  However,  the comments I see on other forums,  websites are wondering why the lack of offers from other colleges.

Juwan Johnson is from NJ, and transferred from PSU to Oregon

Justin Fields is from Georgia and transferred from Georgia to Ohio State

Kelly Bryant is from South Carolina and transferred from Clemson to Mizzou.

There are many more, all local kids that decided to enter the portal and transfer to a school far away. In fact, most of the kids from PSU who entered the portal were local kids.

He's just a junior - the offers and most likely another star will come after next years season.

I didn’t mean it like that roam I’m just not sold on a whole lot of good football players coming out of LV doesn’t mean it can’t happen though. If James Franklin is giving him a scholarship then he definitely sees something in the kid. James Franklin has an eye for talent and trust me I trust his judgment especially with recruiting. Didn’t mean for it to sound negative lol

Then people in those forums aren't well informed, because he has offers from WVU, Oregon, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Duke, Arizona, BYU, and others. Duke just graduated a pro level QB, Oregon has what many consider next year's possible #1 QB, and Arizona has a Heisman hopeful in Tate at QB. So these aren't schools that suck at QB either.

Not exactly terrible... considering McSorley had zero offers outside of Franklin's to play QB at the FBS level
