Just curious Bill, why would PSU have him take snaps at QB? Even without Stevens they have 4 scholarship QBs with another committed in next year’s recruiting class, plus at least 2 walk ons currently on the roster. Seems like a pretty deep QB room already.
Because he’s a damn good QB. Not sure why he’s going as a TE/ATH as he’s never played a down at TE. Will have more today after we interview him

Good point Southern and Franklin has made it pretty clear from Day 1 that he would like to have 5 scholarship QBs on the roster. PSU has 4 (not counting Stevens) with another coming in next year. They also have at least 2 walk-ons plus this kid Murray is referring to. I'm assuming he is a walk-on. It will be interesting to see what Geoff Collins does at Ga Tech because the kids on the current roster were probably uniquely recruited to run the previous offense, which Collins doesn't run. They may be shopping for a transfer QB. For those who didn't see it, Ohio St backup QB Baldwin is transferring. This doesn't seem like a huge deal on the surface, but it leaves them with only 2 scholarship QBs on the roster. If Fields isn't what they thought he can be, or gets hurt, they are sunk. It seems they put all their eggs in one basket with Fields and chased off 2 QBs already on the roster (Martell and now Baldwin) and a recruited QB who never signed with them.

LB99 I’m surprised a good QB that’s transferring hasn’t look at Ga Tech especially since they have a new head coach. I really hope Stevens looks a Tech if he does leave because he would definitely be the man because Ga Tech has no true QB.

Tsuga, I would never go as far as to say TS was a pussy for wanting to transfer but his case seems a little different than most. To me most of the transfers see the writing on the wall as far playing time especially for QB where only one will play. With Stevens, for 4 years he invested so much time and effort at PSU waiting for his turn to finally be the "the guy". In my opinion if he was fully healthy he would of been that guy and named starter come fall. Of course just my opinion again, it just looks a little weak (not pussy) on his part to be sooo close to getting it for him to abandon ship now. As for a QB transferring into PSU, I wouldn't like it all. Say if Justin Fields decided to transfer into Penn State and "stole" Tommy Stevens' job, I would think J Fields looked weak too (although his transfer to OSU looks more like a pussy lol). Of course I suppose I would still have to root him.

I cant blame the kid for wanting to play college ball and looking elsewhere for a chance to do that. I kinda believe in my heart of hearts that TS knew he couldnt beat out SC and decided to transfer. It might be me to which you are referring, but to the best of my memory I called him a baby, not a pussy, so maybe it wasn't me after all. In my mind, there is a "proper" time and place to transfer I you so desire. After spring camp starts, I say now is not the time (for appearance reasons). Just from the little bit of facts that we know now, which may be 1% of the total situation, it appears that Tommy was assumed #1 heading into spring ball - due to an injury he could not compete - after camp the coach said the starting job must be earned and all must compete for said position. Appearance wise, it looks like his feelings got hurt and decided to take his ball and go home (aka .. Transfer). From the little bit we've seen from both QB's, I think Tommy would have earned that spot easily, but I ain't the coach, so who knows. Now if the other 99% of the facts come out and flip the script on this narrative, I am sure my opinion could change.

PL is not worth a penny to read. Try getting you're PSU news from the local State College paper, the Centre Daily Times or even the student newspaper, the Daily Collegian. You can Google them and bookmark their sites. Both have timely and comprehensive coverage of Penn State football.
