1. We play Cain more, get more consistent on offense, and beat Michigan State soundly. I really hope we stop this RB rotation, if we were consistent on offense I wouldn't care... but we aren't and IMO it stems from the RBs.
2. Ohio State beats Wisconsin. I'd rather play OSU when they are undefeated, it would be a better resume builder.
3. Michigan beats Notre Dame. I hate Michigan and Harbaugh, so if they lose I won't be broke up about it LOL. However, it would solidify Michigan as a decent team who was beat by good teams... and take the shine off of ND.
4. Minnesota beats Maryland. I'd love for the Gophers to stay undefeated and ranked highly until we play them.
5. Pitt to beat Miami. Keep the train rolling Pitt, the more you win the more our victory rises in significance.
6. Baylor beats WVU. I always liked Matt Rhule, would love to see him continue that story.
Could Cain be in the dawg house and James Franklin is teaching him a lesson but also teasing him with a few snaps just to show him what he’s missing not playing the whole game? James Franklin always has been very quiet when it comes to injuries and kids being in trouble.its part of his coaching strategy I think

That would be an incredible stupid thing to do as a coach. Punish a kid but still use him in critical situations? All the kid would learn is it doesn't matter what you do if the team needs you bad enough.
Nah, I think Franklin is just delusional that this rotation is helping.
Well we are 7-0 ranked 6th so maybe he’s right 😁 I don’t care who plays as long as we win but I do think Cain is the best RB

We are winning due to explosive plays and defense. The RB rotation has nothing to do with either of those things. I'd argue we're winning in spite of it, not because of it. It's holding our offense back.
Ricky Slade is the new Koa Farmer. Everyone knew Micah Parsons was superior to Koa last year, but Koa kept playing and the defense suffered when he was in. Obviously. Same thing is happening now with the RBs.
If I was to complain about winning it would go against everything I ever stood for and that’s....just win baby! 7-0 Roam ranked 6th let’s enjoy the win lol

Saying the RB rotation isn't working IS NOT complaining about winning. This is the difference between those who will be good, and those who will be elite.
Just because you are winning doesn't mean you can't get better. Elite players and coaches know that. Nick Saban doesn't sit around thinking "hey we beat Tennessee, no need to change anything or get better". He finds things to do better, he doesn't ignore issues just because he won.
Tiger Woods was a great golfer early in his career. He was winning... then he changed his entire swing AND GOT BETTER. That's elite.
I know there's a saying "if it's not broken don't fix it". It's overused, and what good coaches fall back on while elite coaches constantly strive to do better, be better, and evolve. Franklin is a great coach, and says he wants to be elite. Well, every elite coach I can think of would have made a RB decision by now and gone with it. Never seen a coach go beyond rotating 2 backs.
Statistic they put up to start the 2nd half
Cain avg yards per carry by quarter:
1st 0.5
2nd 1.7
3rd 2.5
4th 4.8
Looks like a trend to me.
So that might suggest why we don't use him in the first half, now why don't we use him in the 4th quarter?

1st: 3
2nd: 4
3rd: 21

The stats you posted make no sense... He only carried the ball 3 times in the 1st quarter, all of which were against Iowa. They were gains of 7, 7, & 5, and that's an average of 6.3 ypc. So where the heck is anyone getting 0.5????
That is the stat they showed during the game. I assumed it was all games. It was before the 4th quarter so it wasn't the UM game. ESPN shows he had 5 carries for 19 yards against UM. In game data is suspect?

Yeah, I am not sure. One thing I am sure of is Noah Cain should have more than 7 carries in the first half FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR.

I work remotely, so I absolutely will not get a flat tire. Thanks for your concern 🙄
If Cain IS in Franklin's dog house for something, just make him ride the bus back from Mich St! Don't hurt the team's chances of winning by limiting his carries, LMAO 🤣 🤣 🤣

That was old school by Dabo, I like it 😂
Me too! Kinda reminds me of something old would do. Did you ever hear the story about one of the Ohio St team busses running out of gas on the way home from playing Meatchicken. Ole Woody wouldn't let the bus driver stop to fill up until they got out of Michigan - they never made it across the state line before the gas was gone. LMAO!

1. Love Cain I agree he is the best back but with that said the rotation will continue and I won't mind until it cost us a game... Not it was we lost so it must have been the RB rotation but real evidence that it is what caused the loss.
2. Hate OSU want them to get slaughtered.
3. Hate Hairball want them to lose to ND.
4. I agree, Minnesota has not played anyone and this could be an upset though.
5. Hate Pitt but I agree 100%
6.WVU is bad and Rhule will continue to win. I like Rhule turning into a solid coach.

1. I mind it because I know it will cost us a game, Ohio State.
Here's my biggest issue with the Rotation: Ricky Slade. Minus the one rush he had Saturday, which had a hole the size of Egypt to run through, he was awful. Missed many blocks, didn't get anything on any other rush. He doesn't break tackles. His rushing average before that run was under 2 ypc? Why is he in there at all? He has the most fumbles too... Best case scenario is Slade is a Darren Sproles type guy, 3rd down or long yardage passing scat back. Not a real good fit for this offense.
Devyn Ford seems fine, but I don't see why we burned his redshirt in order to play 2 series a game and maybe 3 carries? Huh? That decision baffles me.
I don't mind Journey Brown at all, to me he's a good 1-2 punch with Cain. Journey is more of a home run hitter, but has also shown some grit between the tackles. I think he should be spelling Cain when needed.
As for Cain, he's just different. He hits the hole with zero hesitation, and always falls forward. His teammates have a nickname for him: NOAH GAIN... because he always gets positive yards. He's a back that keeps the sticks moving. He's a guy who even when a block is missed, he can break that tackle or drag the guy for yardage. THAT is the type of guy the offense needs. THAT is the type of back that can bring consistency to any offense.
Cain for 4 yards here, 5 yards there, 3 yards, 4 yards, etc. etc. etc. Pretty soon you realize that you were in a bunch of 3rd & 2's all game instead of 3rd & 8's. Your offense stayed on schedule, and was able to use play action effectively because of the inside running. The middle behind the LB's opened up for Freirmuth, safeties started creeping and KJ got them over the top. Consistency + Explosive plays.
That's just what I see this offense being able to do if Cain was starting with Brown spelling him/ mixing it up from time to time. IMO 4 guys who all do things differently just messes things up, it's like our offense has a different identity every single series.

Like I said when it really bites us I will really get concerned... We can sit here all day and say what we want or like but we have the luxury of not being responsible for an entire team and managing a roster in today's college football climate.
Don't get me wrong I am all for Cain starting and rotating with Brown, Ford being next and Slade last.
I am also a huge believer in it all starts up front with the OL and DL.. A very good OL will spring any RB.
I don't follow your thinking, 2016. When the RB rotation really bites us (as in costing us the game), it'll be too late to get concerned. The damage will be done! Also, I agree with Roam, it's in our best interests for Meatchicken to beat the Domers (his stated reasoning is spot on). I could go either way on OSU vs Wiscy. Either way, we'll need to beat OSU if we want a shot at the playoffs!
Depending on how things go, if we lose a very close game to OSU we will still be in the mix for a Playoff spot. Sure we'd need some help, but we would not be out of it completely. Same thing goes for OSU, if they lose to us in a close game.
Right now I'd say the only chance for 2 teams in the playoffs are the SEC West with LSU and Alabama, and the Big Ten East with OSU and Penn State. I don't see any other scenarios where a 2nd team would get in. I know FD will come in here and talk about 4 SEC team all getting in and how ESPN runs everything, but that's how I see it.
They are all healthy, OSU is as confused as we are and the other thread says we have no reason to lose before OSU. Think OSU cares that we have 4 backs to plan for? I doubt it so what is the value? Health and Happiness?
He is not Larry Johnson but then again Larry wasn't Larry until he was a senior.
Roam, if both OSU & PSU make the playoffs I'll never complain about the scam committee again, I promise!
