This year I've seen many quotes like this:

"The Big Ten East division. It's going to be a bloodbath, a battle of attrition. I think there could be three CFP contenders in Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. Add to the mix a pesky team in East Lansing and I don't know how anyone comes out unscathed. It's the best division of the power five conferences." - ESPN analyst Tom Luginbill

When are the analysts going to get off Michigan's jock and start giving Michigan State any semblance of credit? In the past 10 years they have 3 Big Ten Titles, and have finished ahead of Michigan in 8 of 10 seasons. They've played in the CFP, and won a Rose Bowl.  But yet, Michigan is a "contender" while they are "that pesky team from East Lansing".

Disrespected IMO

They have southernitis Roam....Michigan St ain’t part of the big dawg family lol. On my defense I started to put Michigan St in the big dawg family 3 years ago and they got destroyed by Alabama, I should’ve known better lol. They are a pretty sound football team though.

Fair or not, objective or not, disputed or not, the Big ten, perception wise, will always be the Big two, and little, (fill in the blank, whatever the number left is these days)..Especially the media, and preseason forecasts in the magazines..

What MSU has been able to accomplish is nothing short of phenomenal and  a credit to the job performed by Mark Dantonio...But he wont be there forever, and UM will again dominate..The Wolverines, year in, year out, just attract better talent than MSU..This yr, I think most media pundits are expecting  a big rebound from UM..THis is  a crucial yr, for Jim Harbaugh, who may be for the first time of his reign in Ann Arbor, under pressure to win..You cant remain forever in Ann Arbor if you're losing to OSU very year..

MSU absolutely loaded this year, returning a very experienced secondary plus many more.  Wouldn't surprise me a bit if they win the B10 outright.

They’ll lose 4 games maybe 5 this year.

Culture, Weren’t the pundits expecting a big rebound from Michigan last year too? You are right, Harbaugh has to beat Sparty and Ohio St this year or his seat is going to get really warm. I think Harbaugh’s record at Michigan vs Sparty and OSU is 1-5, including 0-3 vs the Buckeyes. That isn’t going to sit well with the Michigan faithful even if he is a “Michigan Man”.

Southern,  anything is possible in football.  4-5 losses will be hard to believe if it comes true. They return 19 starters from last year.  They will be a hard nosed football team team and a headache for most teams on their schedule.

People don't seem to realize this Patterson kid LOST HIS STARTING POSITION at Ole Miss. He basically got benched, he wasn't going to be their starter this year.  His numbers look good from playing FCS teams and horrible defenses... I don't get it.

Of course, I could be wrong but it just doesn't seem like this kid is all he's being made out to be.

Arizona St, penn st, Ohio st, Michigan, NW and Nebraska. Nebraska might be a stretch but IMO the other 5 games are really tough games. 9-4 is what I see them doing.

I agree Roam, if he was as good as they say he would be at Ole Miss. I believe Michigan will rebound this year but if they don’t CT is right, Harbaugh’s seat will start getting hot.

You're right, LB99, last yr, year 3 for JImbo, was supposed to be big, yr 3 always comes with big expectations..Somehow, because probably of who he is, a UM man and and his rep, plus the QB troubles, bought him  a bit of  a pass..But ALL IT REALLY DID wa sheighten the pressur efor this yr..AS you said, he need to beat MSU,a nd OSU..4-5 MORe LOSSES could be it, and he may even bolt for the NFL..

A little bit, I like the braves and pull for them to win but I don’t watch every game, I’ve probably watched 5 games this year. Football and wrestling are my 2 favorite sports. Now if the braves make the playoffs I’ll watch every playoff game if I’m at home.

Big baseball fan here, southern..Enjoying the tight race between two young teams; still won't surprise me if the Nationals get hot and win NL East..

Of course, I'll interrupt my baseball watching to attend Eagles-Falcons, 9/6..
