Listening to the radio while at work again and today they are claiming Diaz is at the top of USC’s defensive coordinator wish list and they are ready to throw a pile of cash at him. They also stated he could be in the running for the TAMU job and Mississippi State.
We may have a choice of either paying and keeping Manny and promoting the OC from within or paying and hiring a big time OC from outside and letting Manny go.
i vote for paying and keeping Manny.
I say JF takes a voluntary self directed pay cut of $2M and adds a mill to Manny's contract and adds a mill to the OC contract and goes outside and brings an OC in who is proven, and then stay out of the way and be an $8M CEO who gets it done! Add incentive clauses to the contracts, and increase the NIL money. If TB12 can take a paycut/restructure and when SBs, then JF outta be able to do the same. There ya go.

With our best defense in years, we held OSU (20) and Mich (24) to low point totals and did not come close to beating either. Spend the money on a big time OC and roll the dice on the defense.
In both games we were down by 1 score late into the 4th quarter. Both times we got stopped on 4th down, which lead to a TD for the other team. Happened in both games! We could have tied either game with a drive, and came up short in both instances. Very frustrating to say the least.Listening to the radio while at work again and today they are claiming Diaz is at the top of USC’s defensive coordinator wish list and they are ready to throw a pile of cash at him. According to a report from The Atlantic, Manny is in the mix for Duke’s head coaching vacancy. Supposedly Duke's search is in the preliminary stages. Manny, along with Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and NC State defensive coordinator Tony Gibson met with Duke today.
Hope he's just testing the waters and decides to stay with us!

He’s familiar with the state of NC and it’s a low pressure stepping stone job that the previous coach proved can be a winner. I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes it if offered although we should be able to pay him more to keep him as a DC.
David Cutcliffe did pretty good there too so maybe it’s not a bad job. If he hangs around and James Franklin doesn’t get it done they’d probably give him the job lol….imo James Franklin needs to make the playoffs in the next 2 years or we’ll probably see a change just my opinion though. We’ve been very good under James Franklin but the pressure is coming to get in the playoffs.
My guess is if JF doesn't make a 12 team playoff next year he may be looking for another gig, and if not, 2025 will be the put up or shut up year. The game is changing and so are the expectations; money creates a lot of options.
@psu61 with the new schedules coming adding Oregon, UCLA and USC I’m wondering what the expectations of wins will be? IMO 10 is expected today at Penn St or the seat will get hot?
I agree 61, if he misses the playoff the next 2 years he's gone no matter what his overall record is.My guess is if JF doesn't make a 12 team playoff next year he may be looking for another gig, and if not, 2025 will be the put up or shut up year. In my eyes Duke is a stepping stone to the next power 5 job no matter what their success, no matter what the coach. A 7-5 regular season with a bowl is about as good as it gets for Duke...a basketball school. Maybe that's Manny's plan if he gets the job. He has a lot to work with from what Elko and Cutcliffe built. So anyway, should Manny wait a year for a better power 5 job? If next year Florida's Napier has another disaster, does he get the boot. What do you think?

If I'm MD, I wait another year, on the other hand he's hot now and who's knows about next year. I will say though if the D is as good next year, he has put together 3 consecutive years of top D, and that will land him a good gig. A big problem with some of these programs is that they have no sustained culture of winning big; imo, TA&M will always be a ~7-5 team with one off years, just as a lot of other teams e.g. FL, TN, etc.. The key will be getting into a Power school that consistently get into the 12 team playoff and have a legit chance at top 4 finishes. JMOP.
