Completely fed up with our line, we don't push anyone. Our Oline is pathetic, and needs a mobile QB to get anything done. Now we can't seem to block for runs?

FFS it's been 6 years since the sanctions and we still can't put together a line that has any sort of push. These last two games fully show it, we can not block the run game, and the passing game only works when our QB is mobile.

This is why we lose against elite teams. Heck, look at what happens when our QB can't run... we can't even beat Illinois.

Maybe we should hire an old-school OL coach and recruit some beefy 3* kids that have an attitude and coach them up to push people around.

@rip  for the record BK, if you remember, I was for keeping Limegrover because the O-line got better every year under him and we had a few players to go on to the NFL.

Limegrover SUCKED! We have had the same issues since the BOB era. And a few players going to the NFL doesn't mean a thing!

There is not the first O'line that has a big, mean, nasty attitude; not one; and there hasn't been one for years! It is a symptom of an underlying problem. On the other there are a shit load of other D1 programs in the same boat; the boat is christened, "Just Wait Till Next Year."

Seriously, what is the underlying problem with recruiting and developing big nasties on the O'line?

I would agree our Online really sucked today and sucked bad all year in run blocking. That said, do you think our running backs are over rated? They seem really slow and don't seem to get to the edge.

Here's the only story line that needs to be read:

IL Rushing: 357 yards

PSU Rushing: 62 yards

Give me a freaking break.

A $5mill/year HC with all the amenities; yeah great job!

Limegrover was here from 2016-2019. 3 eleven win seasons with a big 10 championship and a fiesta bowl and cotton bowl wins. I told y’all James Franklin was making a mistake and it was a mistake firing him. These are facts not my opinion. 42-11 while he was here and he sucked? I’m just showing y’all what was when he was here.

No, you are giving us team accomplishments and acting like that means the OL was good.

We won the Big Ten in 2016 because of great skill players and a mobile QB. Doesnt mean our line was good.

Heck everyone back then was talking about how Barkley would have been all time if he had a line.

1994 Line, all the skill players looked great, how many times was Collins sacked that year?  How many 100 yard rushing games for the backs?

It must be tough to recruit fat 300lb 20 year olds and predict which ones are going to make it but some coaches/team cultures do it regularly.  Maybe there is a correlation with the RPO Offense.  Maybe it is just part of the deal, but good grief IL got 2 yards every time they wanted it today and I assure you our recruits were higher ranked.

We are 10-7 since Limegrover was let go, it ain’t no coincidence. Go back and look at what ole southern said when he let Limegrover go. It’s bit him in the butt just like I said it was. Clifford was the QB in 2019 man connect the dots if y’all ain’t going to listen to me. I’m just going by play on the field it ain’t nothing tricky. What happened on the field baby

You also thought the OC before 2016 was good.

We won in spite of our line for years, not because of them

@roaminglion  explain 2019 then with Clifford being the QB and Limegrover the O-Line coach? 11-2 Roam with a win in the cotton bowl.   I told you when you fire somebody doing a good job it might not end good.

I was a fan of Limegrover too, Southern.  I think he had the line consistently improving.

Clifford played well, our line sucked, and we won most of our games. Not hard to explain.

Just because you win doesnt mean every part of your team is good.

Using your logic why were we 5-0 to start the year? Line must have been good right? I mean we won so that means were were great on the line right?

For years we've been protecting the line with a lot of QB runs and draws,  Now we've gotten away from that and we can't block anyone.

@rip  Limegrover did take over a disaster with the O-line and had guys going to the NFL in 3 years. We’ve had what 5 or 6 guys drafted and look at it now BK, it ain’t no coincidence since Limegrover was fired we can’t run the ball at all. James Franklin messed up and it’s bit him in the ass. Y’all blame the goat joe Paterno if you don’t like the way I see things lol

No opinion, just wondering what Limegrover is doing today.  Results?  Do head coaches want him?

Limegrover is offensive line coach and run game coordinator for Arkansas State.

the offensive line is weak and plays timid. It’s like these guys don’t lift a weight. They will be lucky to score 7 points next week against Ohio state. It’s time to start bringing in lineman that can run block! They tried to fix there run game instead of playing there game getting a lead then trying to run. Noah Cain went from freshman phenom to a rb that looks scared. The running game starts with the big nasty’s upfront and ends with them. They’ll lose 5 games if this isn’t fixed and it won’t be.

So what is the issue ... we've had what, 3 or 4 online coaches since Paterno.  MacWhorter, Limegrower, and ???, and ???  forgetting their names.  So the online has now sucked for 8+ years - the only thing consistent in those years is Franklin.  Could he be telling the Oline coord's how he wants them coached regardless of what those coaches say or think?  Is it the "system"?  You all know I've never been a fan of this RPO.  Are the recruiting coordinators not up to snuff when determining which kids would be successful with this system??  Wish I had the answers cuz I'm getting sick and tired of what I've been witnessing for all these years now.  Heck, I wouldn't even mind it if PSU borrows from IL and goes to a 7 linemen, 2 TE sets like we saw today.  That RB from IL had one hell of a day running when he had a running start to the line, and then actually cracks, seams, and holes to run though.  If it takes the D's secondary to be the ones tackling RB's, the line is working well.

@shankalottapuss  Alabama’s QB is gettin hit and running for his life on some plays. The days of having dominating O-Lines are pretty much gone. What we had in Limegrover is about as good as you’re going to get running the RPO. The O-line didn’t suck when Limegrover was here we won 11 games 3 times in 4 years. Barkley, Boobie and Journey Brown run for a lot of yards way better than what we see today.
