Michigan is 6-0. Their best and only win over a team with a winning record is against Maryland. Maryland is 4-2 and none of their 4 wins are over a team with a current winning record.
Penn State is 5-0. Their best win (IMO) and only win over a team with a winning record is Purdue.... who is 4-2 and they have three wins over 3 teams with winning records....one win was over a team ranked in the top 25. Purdue also lost a heart breaker to Syracuse by 3 points who is currently ranked #18.
1) How in the heck is Michigan ranked #5 and/or ahead of Penn State?
2) Why would Michigan have a 73% chance of winning this game Saturday? Is it just because of Penn States past recent history?
3) Help me out! I fail to see the hype and why some are even giving Michigan an early chance at the playoffs.
Penn State and Michigan are 16- 0 combined against teams that are 27-39 combined......and only two of them have a winning record. Fortunately, one these of these two teams are going to have a win over a top 10 team by the end of the day Saturday. And that team is going to PENN STATE by AT LEAST 14 POINTS!
If I am wrong with my prediction, you will not see another one from me the rest of this year....unless Penn State wins and only fails to cover my spread! Then I will have to keep the BS coming!!
It has been quite sometime since we REALLY had something fun to talk about. I hope this weekend we finally get to enjoy something we have all been hoping for the past several years!!
GO STATE!!!!!!!!!!!

That's one helleva analysis. Hey, Matt Rhule is looking for a job. Where do you think he lands? Wisconsin? Any other places that pop up in your head?

1. It's at Michigan
2. Michigan went to the playoff last year. That goes a long way towards their ranking, good or bad it is what it is.
3. We were 5-0 last year too, don't think people forgot about that.
4. Why would you want to be the favorite anyway??? I'd rather be the underdog!
PSU has a bunch of athletic kids. Clifford is questionable. I don’t have confidence in the coaching staff.
That is BY FAR your most meaningful post EVER!!! I assume she got her looks from your wife!!
She rocks!!!!
@mtnittanylion My kids and grandkids got their looks from my wife lol. Thanks buddy
Sounds like your granddaughter is a smart one. She knows what she's talking about. Must have got her smarts from you!
The chatter about Meatchicken being overrated and playing a soft schedule is growing louder and I’m sure they are hearing it. Don’t be surprised if they come out with a chip on their shoulder and feel like they’re the team that has something to prove. PSU better come out ready to play or it could get ugly fast.
@psujoe I’ve watched Michigan play a couple of times and imo they look slow but maybe the teams they’ve played are fast I just ain’t seeing it. If we get after the QB like we have been the first 5 games we’ll win the game. I don’t believe their QB is as good as the Purdue QB so put some pressure on this dude and make him make mistakes. Bring the heat baby!
@southern-psu-fan definitely need to bring the heat early and often! And get future 1st round draft pick Denis-Sutton his share of playing time!
Penn State can pick Michigan's defense apart if they throw a bunch of short passes....it is THAT simple! JF needs to "reel" in the running game a little bit and go with short passes often. I would like to see a lot of RPO's and I think Penn State will control the clock, keep our defense off the field and Penn State WILL score points! Just too much Penn State talent on offense playing a defense that is good but not great!
I am probably going to "eat crow" with this statement, but I just don't see Michigan winning this game! Penn State by 17 (34-17) and I am sticking with it!!

A lot of RPO's is exactly what we're trying to get away from. Trace was great for it, but Clifford couldn't hold up to the pounding and gets hurt way too much. Basically, you'd be risking his health by running that scheme so much. Not to mention that Allar has no business running an RPO, he's not a runner and he'd probably be a walking target for DE's to blast into next year.
It's good to pepper them in once in an while, but an RPO offense with a QB like Clifford isn't a great idea. In theory, yeah... Practical? IMO Clifford would be pounded. He can run, but close to the line of scrimmage and battling DEs for yardage needs a special kind of QB. Michael Robinson could do it, Trace could do it, but Clifford's not built to handle it. Who knows though, maybe they roll the dice and take their chances knowing we have good backups now.
Now that we've established the run game (sort of), I think you'll see us try to reestablish the down field passing attack. Hope we don't get too stubborn and just go with what is working. If Cliff hits on some long passes, great. If not, go with the run game, short passes and mix in some RPO's. And for heaven's sake, take the game out of Pinegar's foot. That lad scares me, lol.
So we’re recruiting QB’s that really don’t fit our offense and blame the OL when it doesn’t work? Lol I’m joking but I’m not joking lol
Solution to down field passing attack = catch the darn ball!
You're right Southern. Those two areas are key to our continued success. After this October stretch, they won't be a young team anymore. Hopefully, they'll be a great team!
Franklin is 3 and 6 after a bye week. Last year, Penn State lost to Illinois at home following the bye week. Illinois was 2 and 5 at the time with narrow wins over Nebraska and Charlotte. The following week, Illinois lost to Rutgers.
5 and 3 could be right around the corner for Franklin. The difference this year might be Manny D.

We aren't recruiting QB's that don't fit our offense, we're recruiting QB's that are better suited for the offense we want to run. Allar isn't a runner, and we haven't been an RPO offense for 3 years.

3 of those losses were when we had 50 scholarship players on the team. Lastly, probably the biggest win of Franklin's tenure was after a bye week... So not all is lost.
Really wish he was better after bye weeks though.
