It's shocking but  "let them play" does not appear to be in the 2024 NCAA Football Rules Book.  The link to the Rules Book is :

It is interesting to note on page FR-13, the 2 types of "Rules" are Administrative and Conduct.  According to the Rules Book, Administrative Rules can be changed but Conduct Rules cannot be changed.  Logically, if the officials decide to "let them play", they have instituted a temporary change to the Conduct Rules and would therefore be in violation of their ethical code of conduct.

Some of the quotes from the Rules Book which I believe support this position follow:

Quote 1:  Every participant in the collegiate football scene shares a responsibility for ethical conduct that enhances the future of this American tradition. (pg FR-7)

Quote 2:  The Football Code (pg FR-11):

The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Code of Ethics states:

  1. The Football Code shall be an integral part of this code of ethics and should be carefully read and observed
  2. To gain an advantage by circumvention or disregard for the rules brands a coach or player as unfit to be associated with football

Quote 3:  Officials are on the field to uphold the integrity of the game of football, and their decisions are final and conclusive and should be accepted by players and coaches. (pg FR-12)

Quote 4: The Rules (pg FR-13)

NCAA Football Rules and Interpretations have been designated as either administrative rules or conduct rules.  Typically, administrative rules are those dealing with preparation for the contest.   Conduct rules are those that have to do directly with the playing of the contest.    Some administrative rules (as indicated) may be altered by the mutual consent of the competing institutions.  Others (as indicated) are unalterable.  No conduct rule may be changed by mutual consent.  All NCAA member institutions are required, as a condition of membership, to conduct their intercollegiate contests according to these rules.

NCAA Rules....not B10.  NCAA is impotent and just a 'guideline'.

Yes impotent not important.

Maybe B10 needs to understand the word conduct as applied by the NCAA?  Maybe they think conduct is personal fouls only?

Id like to think I have some credibility on the ridiculousness of the officiating as if last nights informs were maize and blue and red and white I'd come to the same conclusions about last nights exhibition.  It was like OT in an NHL game...ignore everything.  NHL, one set of rules for the regular season and another for post season.

The GA/TX regular game was poorly officiated and the holding on the interception was really offensive pass interference.  It was so bad the crew got together, probably after watching the big screen, and seemed to say that another official saw it better....
