Iowa is 5-0 but did they really beat anybody good?Ā That Iowa State win is not ALL that impressive anymore than than the Penn State win over Wisconsin....IMO. Iowa State barley got past Northern Iowa and now they are sitting 3-2 with a loss to Baylor as well.Ā And the win over the Terps?Ā Really, is that impressive? And Iowa was down 14-7 at half against 1-3 Colorado State???

I am taking Penn State, the points and going a HUNDY!!! You all may throw this back in my face next Saturday night, but I don't see Iowa standing toe to toe with Penn State!!! Sorry, if you are going to be ranked in the top 4 after week 5, you can't be down at halftime against a 1-3 Colorado State team in week 4 of your journey! During Penn State's week 4 journey, they were up 17-3 at half against Villanova who is WAY better than Colorado State.Ā

I don't know what any of this means, I just like to talk a lot, but I am not seeing Iowa as a 2 point favorite.....maybe a 10 point underdog at best!!Ā

I think a key to the game will be the D'Line clogging up the middle and PJ Mustipher having a beast game.Ā
I think the key will be to limit Iowa's 3rd down (& 4th down) conversions.Ā Also, we need to play smart, no turnovers, stupid penalties, etc.Ā Ā

I think Penn State is going to be able to run the ball against Iowa.Ā I have no idea why I think this, but I don't feel Iowa is quite as good as what everyone thinks.Ā If Clifford can clean up his passing, hit his tight ends on routine pass plays, he will be able to keep Iowa off balance and post 21 points or more.Ā I don't see the defense giving up more than 10 points....maybe 13 at the most.Ā

I have this as a close game, but I have Iowa playing catch up for all 4 quarters. They are ranked #3 for a reason, mostly because they upset what is now a not so great Iowa State team. I still like Penn State's win over Auburn more, not what I would call it a signature win, but we are so used to losing these types of games (and didn't) says a lot about their maturity now!Ā

Penn State has too many weapons, ones that can burn you in an instant and I don't think this game will come down to a slugfest! They may only post 50 yards rushing ( and I really think it will be more) but they are going to have at least 3 TD passes.Ā
Like you said, no turnovers is key! As long as Clifford stays calm and doesn't force passes, Penn State will come out of this game with another WIN!Ā

I feel like the game will be decided by PSU's offense vs. Iowa's defense. I don't think Iowa will do anything vs. our D, but it will come down to whether we can limit mistakes on O and not give Iowa free points. They have lived off of those this year.
I completely agree! By no means am I underestimating Iowa or over estimating Penn State's ability.Ā I feel Penn State is a little quicker on both sides of the ball (vs Iowa) and that is going to keep Iowa in check.Ā Ā

What I like about Penn State is that when they make mistakes, they have shaken them off almost immediately.Ā I don't think Penn State will get rattled Saturday night.Ā As long as Penn State makes Iowa EARN their points and not give them freebee's, they should be able to bring home another W!Ā

Here is my take...I don't think Penn State has to grind the ball on the ground to win but must be effective enough running the football to keep Iowa honest...NO turnovers...Protecting the football is job one as Iowa is very turnover dependent and have created numerous turnovers in all of their wins...I don't believe they will be able to move the football on Penn State and don't think they can score more than 17 points...The question is can Penn State put up 24 points and not turn over the football? This is a typical Iowa football team...They run the ball...Hit the TE's up the seam and try to burn you on play action...Their defense is a veteran group especially in the secondary...They will scheme to take away Dotson and bait Clifford into making mistakes...Clifford must be patient and take what they give him...This game is going to be a grind...I believe these 2 teams will face each other in the B1G championship game and are the 2 best teams in the B1G and certainly 2 of the top 5 teams in the country right now...I don't think Iowa can beat Penn State but Penn State can beat Penn State...NO turnovers...Limit penalties...Count on the Defense to shut them down...Play field position...I too am going to lay some coin on Penn State with the points...I am also going to seriously look at the under as well...I don't anticipate many points especially from Iowa...Barring Penn State turning the ball over I don't see Iowa scoring more than 17 points...I see Penn State 24 and Iowa 13...That is my prediction...If Penn State goes in there and plays sloppy and starts turning the ball over then it is going to get ugly and fast...So far Penn State has played relatively mistake free football and I expect that to continue this week...
