@rip..Im a bigger fan of the CFP than you guys...What Im not a big fan of is the conference championship games, unless, and UNTIL, they let all power 5 conf champs in..To me, these games are mostly meaningless, Im sure there are exceptions, but not many
..Take last yr for example, going into the conf championships, LSU, Ohio St, Clemson, Oklahoma were odds on favorites for the CFP Guess what, they all won easily, and headed to the CFP..Okla had a bit of a struggle with, I think Baylor but that was it..point being, if the CFP is going to stick to 4 teams, with few exceptions, there has been general agreement who the best 4 teams are..
Back to your point, you read ND is in, regardless of the Clemson outcome...I think that is true, just so its a competitive game If not, could be a crapshoot , NDs resume, 10 wins which not many teams have, win over Clemson, still or may carry them. And if a blowout loss, they could lose out to Fla/Bama , if Fla beats Alabama
If it is a conspiracy theory to think it is good business to promote one of your teams ESPN NETWORK over non ESPN Network teams yes I have my foil hat on.
The more i think about it calling someone a 'conspiracy theorist' is in vogue for diminishing anything factual in a persons argument and just blowing them off as a fool. So I say one is a fool if they don't think NBC supports Notre Dame and ESPN does't support ESPN Network teams (that would be the SEC and ACC). It would be as FOOLISH as saying the B10 does not have some business incentive to get TOSU into the B10 Championship no matter today's rules.
Not a fool, not a conspiracy theory. EZ to figure out with a brain. The only question is how much is the bias? A computer program m8ght measure it.

You are a wise man!!
Anybody that thinks for one minute that the SEC and ACC conferences along with Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan & Notre Dame don't receive special treatment you are delusional. ESPN is in bed and in business with both of those conferences as they partner with them to create those conference channels. I have said this whole CFP was a farce from day one. It began with the "eye test" which is how you judge beauty pageants not athletic contests. That is the fall back they use when the games don't go their way. That is my problem with this whole thing. Games don't matter, conference championships don't matter, none of it matters. They come up with a cock and bull excuse to put in the 4 teams from the 4 conferences they want in. There is always 2 SEC teams in UNLESS a PAC 12, BIG 12 or Notre Dame goes undefeated...The SEC or ACC can have 1 loss teams in but nobody else unless your Ohio State, Oklahoma, Michigan or Notre Dame...ESPN was allowed to peddle the Bullshit that the SEC is the best conference in the country for years...Even when they get drilled in the bowl games it don't matter...The whole system caters to the SEC and the ACC first and foremost...Then the 4 other sacred cows get catered to. I refuse to watch it...I have never watched one game of the "CFP" because it is a farce and has been since day one...
@the-funeral-director
One of the biggest farces they made up is the old "SEC speed" BS. They also pick what they claim to be the 4 best teams before the season even begins and eliminate 95 percent of the others before any of them have played one down. It doesn't matter what any of the other teams do during the season because they're not getting in.
Not sure why my whole post isn't showing in above response. Website is acting strange on my phone
I stand by my statement before the season started, there should be an asterisk beside any so called champion in 2020.
This year is too messed up to matter.
@roaminglion. You did call it that roam and you’re probably right
So the official excuse this year is too messed up to matter? I guess the old "JF is still learning" and "too many new coaches" have run their course.
Prognosticator
@rip..YOU conveniently left out UNC, 7 win team, ranked 17th by the CFP COMMITTEE...A resurgent program, coached by MACK BROWN, averaging over 500 yards per game with a stud QB and two good RBs..
If youre going to rip ND, at least get your facts straight ..Fans complain they stay independent, they then join a conference for 1 yr, demonstrate that these conferences are weaker than playing an intersectional schedule, run the table, and still get criticized..and look at OSU, who is being pushed for the playoffs, theyve beaten no one..C'mon now..
You and I dont agree on much CT but I have come to respect you over the years. With that said, I honestly believe ND is as deserving a spot in the playoffs as anyone else. Yeah, they beat Clemson without Lawrence, but why should they be punished for that?? It was Clemson's job to overcome and adapt and they couldnt. ND carried the day against Clemson and did what they were supposed to do this year.....win every game on their schedule. I'm ok with them getting in. Now, do I want to see them get their A$$es kicked in the playoffs?? I think you know the answer to that....lol
@psujoe. There’s no excuse everybody had 9 games we lost our first 5 fair and square but like I said that’s water under the bridge now we are 2-5 trying to make it to 5-5 and get back on the winning side you gotta start somewhere!

Pretty interesting read. I agree with everything you said. I was kind of glad they cancelled the NCAA wrestling ships. Now we get to surmise who the champ would have been.

In regards to your "too many new coaches" remark let me just say there's a lot of truth to that. It's not so much an excuse but rather a reason behind our slow start. It's fairly obvious that you've never competed at this level in any type of sport. I know, you play intramural hockey on Wednesday nights and then there's the Friday night bowling league you belong to but aside from all that; you have no idea what you're talking about Remoh in regards to this team.
With a new coach at any position comes a whole new system to learn. When there are multiple new coaches added to one side of the ball it really complicates things as they try to get their individual schemes and philosophies to mesh with one another. Then, they have to get all that into a package and teach it to the players. In many instances, it's a complete 180 in what they've had to learn in the past. There are so many subtle reads that the QB and OL have to read, identify, and react to in a matter of seconds. The problem is compounded when the athletes havent had time to run the new offensive schemes during spring practice.
So Remoh, when you hurl stones at Roam for making a statement about new coaches, you're pretty much confirming to the entire forum your lack of knowledge at competing at this level. Its not the new coaches Roam was referring to, its the lack of time the new staff had to sell and teach their schemes to the team due to cancellation of spring and most of fall practice. It doesnt take a genius to see that the team is starting to "get it" and we're beginning to look a bit more cohesive as a team. If you were the prognosticator you claim to be, you'd have already known that.
Here's some free advice, sit back, shut up, and enjoy the rest of the season little man, your song and dance is getting rather old.
@tsuga.I appreciate that Tsuga, and all I ask is a little fairness..who you root for is up to you, of course and that doesnt faze me one way or the other..
As for Clemson, Id be a fool to think they wont be tougher with Trevor Lawrence BUT will add, that back-up ND saw is a 5 star who passed that night for 440 yrs, a record against ND..So, he wasnt chopped liver..Hopefully, Lawrence doesn't top that
BUT, BTW, I do realize there is more to the game than passing yards, Lawrence brings a mindset, big game experience, poise, that just cant be duplicated by a frosh..He'll be tough .I do think this is a much better ND team that last faced Clemson in the playoffs..
@southern-psu-fan yes you have to start somewhere but issues that aren't addressed will come back and bite again.
