Coastal Carolina is ranked behind Iowa State in both the AP and Coaches poll.

  • Coastal Carolina beat a Big 12 team, ranked Louisiana (who beat Iowa State), and now previously undefeated BYU.
  • Iowa State has 2 losses, one to the previously mentioned Louisiana (who by the way only has 1 loss to Coastal Carolina)
  • The Big 12 was 0-3 vs. the Sun Belt this year

I mean, if a conference goes 3-0 vs. the Big 12 and beats it's champion... you'd think an undefeated team from that conference would be ranked ahead of a 2 loss champion of the Big 12? NOPE.

WHAT. A. FARCE.

The voters traditionally do what ESPiN tells them to do. I haven't watched anything on ESPiN in well over a year but would be willing to bet some loud mouth was on there explaining to voters why they can't rank CC above teams from the major conferences.

The true top 5 doesn’t rank that far down but IMO Coastal Carolina shouldn’t be ranked,  pretty good football team but don’t belong up there with the big dawgs. Only the big dawg power 5 conferences should get ranked. Nothing changed this week in the true top 5 where I only rank the top 5 teams because this is where the big dawgs play.

Coaches poll... I'm sure coaches making millions of dollars care what some analysts on ESPN think of the rankings.

Coach's poll... It's been well known for decades that it's not the actual coaches doing the voting and  in most cases it is the AD or someone else in the athletic department. I'm sure you believe that they never watch ESPiN.

Never the AD, but coaches assistants. And yes, I'm sure they care about TV personalities more than the guy they work for. Makes sense.

Hey Roam, Maybe you should hire Rudy Giuliani and his crackpot team to prove the rigged rankings? 🤣

Seriously though, the rankings are questionable every season. This year just makes it more confusing with every conference making up their own schedules and rules as they go. I was listening to XM college football station today and they brought up a good point. Ohio St’s best quality win is Indiana. Even if they win the B1G, their strength of schedule this year is very weak. They’ll get in on reputation, but their SOS doesn’t warrant it.

Yes I'm sure they don't let lobbyists influence them and consult with "their boss" every week before placing the vote!! LMFAO!!!

When the main stream media, ESPN in this case has your ear, they can 'brain wash' you.  Especially if you are lazy or too busy to ask questions.

...and some of them said PSU should be in the playoff that year, so it only counts when it's against us but not when they are for us?

Just stop Joe, it's really sad. You said people "...do what ESPN tells them to do."

That's not "influencing people", that is commanding them to do something. I never said they didn't have some sort of influence, of course any opinion person would have some... but you straight up said people just do what ESPN says and now you're trying to change your argument to "oh no I meant subtle influence"

And then there was the time ESPiN lobbied for Joe to be fired. Guess you forgot about that too.

Yes some of them did but it would have never been debated if they hadn't brought it up .

Talk about rigged....Saw numerous articles that state ND is the 1st team to clinch a CFP spot!  If they don't win the ACC, they're in as the best at-large team???  Cmon, look who they beat: Duke (2-8), South Florida (1-8), Florida St. (2-6), Louisville (3-7), Pitt (5-5), Georgia Tech (3-6), Syracuse (1-10).  Their only wins over teams with a winning record were Clemson, playing without Trevor Lawrence, and they needed 2 OT's to do it and Boston College.  It's enough to make one swear off the charade and watch competitive table tennis!

@rip..YOU conveniently left out UNC, 7 win team, ranked 17th by the CFP COMMITTEE...A resurgent program, coached by MACK BROWN, averaging over 500 yards per game with  a stud QB and two good RBs..

If youre going to rip ND, at least get your facts straight ..Fans complain they stay independent, they then  join a conference for 1 yr, demonstrate that these conferences are weaker than playing  an intersectional schedule, run the table, and still get criticized..and look at OSU, who is being pushed for the playoffs, theyve beaten no one..C'mon now..

Sorry I missed UNC, my bad.  It's still not a very impressive performance considering who they beat.  IMO, certainly not enough to be in the CFP.  I still can't believe ND gets in even if they don't win the ACC!  As far as TOSU, if the suckeyes don't win the B1G they don't deserve to be in either.  We all know the reason why ND "joined" a conference.  I can't believe the ACC agreed to the 1 yr deal!  But, as always, ND want's it both ways and as always, they get what they want.  The CFP is nothing but a joke!

I personally would love to see ND get in the playoff because everyone in the country except for their delusional fans knows that they will once again embarrass themselves. It's almost as fun as watching Michigan get embarassed.
