@jimmy-v This year I remember going to Indiana game and they didn't even fill the visitors seats in the upper deck above the north endzone
Just to be realistic, no coach at Miami has done chit in football in the last 25 years with the exception of a couple one off years, and Duke, well if it weren't for basketball, nobody would know that university exist. My point is, it's hard to knock Manny for records at those two schools, and he has done alright relativity speaking the the program and circumstances. That doesn't mean I think he is the HC to come in, but could do a lot worse and nothing would surprise at this time with how the new HC will be. Bottom line, it needs to be somebody who really wants to be at PSU and not someone who is just chasing the bag.
And, if they give a 10 year contract with a ridiculous buy out, then someone should be fired immediately. Next coach should get a 3-5 year contract and then yearly extensions based on merit/metrics with a significant annual bonus that exemplifies success, and not based on f'ing potential for the next year.
And so we have Brohm
QB in NFL, that is a plus for a school that has not developed QB's.
26-25 in B10 play when coach at Purdon't. Not bad. 2nd and 1st in the B10 Weak Division his last 2 years before going home to Lousiville. OK at Louisville 16-6 in ACC. Clearly a weak conference but still OK.
I would put him above Manny and see if he would like to keep our current Defensive Coordinator. Up to him. Small sample but we seem to have a history of avoiding coaches with PSU 'ties'.
How are they at recruiting and NIL? That is as important as X's and O's those Jimmies and Joes.

You left out some of the other good points about him and 2 stand out.
1. he has a more recent win over OSU than PSU despite not coaching in the B1G since when?
2. 3-1 vs top 5 opponents.
Duke was turned around by Cutcliffe and Elko did well there too. In year 2 the team seems undiciplined and has obviously regressed.Just to be realistic, no coach at Miami has done chit in football in the last 25 years with the exception of a couple one off years, and Duke, well if it weren't for basketball, nobody would know that university exist. @roaminglion they’ve lost some close games but that doesn’t mean they’re bad they may be rebuilding I don’t know I don’t keep up with Duke but I do know they don’t reload and I’ve watched them a few times this year and they look like a football team that’s not a shit show on offense. Y’all are judging Manny on what happened in Miami and he was 21-15 which is average I’m sure he’s learned a few things from James Franklin on how to run a football program the dude is just 51 and like I said, there’s games they should win left on their schedule they still have a chance to win 8 games which is very respectable at Duke. Giving Manny the Penn St job is equivalent to Elco getting the A&M job Miami is and has been a shit show for 20 years and y’all know it, all the Florida teams are everybody thought the Oregon coach that they have now was going to light it up and it’s the same ole shit show down there. I just believe he needs another chance.
He got another chance, at Duke. Losing to Tulane and UConn isn't a good impression@roaminglion they’ve lost some close games but that doesn’t mean they’re bad they may be rebuilding I don’t know I don’t keep up with Duke but I do know they don’t reload and I’ve watched them a few times this year and they look like a football team that’s not a shit show on offense. @roaminglion both of them teams are having good seasons.
ND is the only good win A&M has this year they’ve beat 5 teams with losing records with a couple gimme games. Missouri was without their starting QB. Still 9-0 but no Georgia or Alabama on the schedule. It’s a very weak schedule kind of like ours last year.
Big picture though I’m all about Elco because he’s a defensive minded coach and Jim Knowles will be gone if he gets the job. I’ll take any defensive minded coach because Knowles is out of here if that happens if not we better hire a great OC because we gonna need one to try and out score everybody.
If we or anyone else lost to group of 5 teams you'd say those teams are soft and not real competition.@roaminglion both of them teams are having good seasons.

Am I imagining things or did Southern call Tulane and UConn good teams?
@psujoe They should never beat us but both them teams are good football teams for the level of football they play. Didn’t Tulane beat USC a couple of years ago when Caleb Williams was the QB? It may have been another team but they did upset big team.

@rip 😂 you ain’t buying it either and what about the players coming in as freshman or first year players does it take these players 3 years to understand the system RIP? With the transfer portal and money them days are over to get your system in you better win right now or at the least 1 year. By the time Jim Knowles gets his system in 3 head coaches will get fired because his system can’t stop NW and UCLA
Now if Jim Knowles is somewhere where he has the talent to beat NW and UCLA while his system is being developed a coach might survive but apparently we ain’t got that talent.
@southern-psu-fan Knowles didn't get a chance to pick anybody on defense at PSU
@been-there-ii I definitely agree with that my friend
