Good news is VT and Arkansas are apparently in a bidding war for James Franklin. Good for us, as the more he gets paid by someone else the less we owe him.
Well, one thing you can say about Franklin is he wasn't content to just sit back and do nothing while he got paid millions. Shows how much he really does love coaching.
I believe he’ll do good at both teams but I hope he’s goes to Arkansas because he can recruit and he will be after the same recruits we are at VT.
He will have more success at VA Tech due to recruiting and that program seems to be a better fit for JF.
Wasn't there some kind of stipulation, he had to actively search for a job to get his buyout $?
@rip James Franklin and Jim Knowles should be charged with theft because what they were hired to do coaching this year has been a disaster and neither one has come even close to living up to what they said they can get done. Both coaches should drop the contracts and give Penn St their money back. Had a dude that worked on my car and he didn’t fix it and he apologized and give me my money back and this dude didn’t have the money that James Franklin or jim Knowles does so it can be done.
Where I come from if you don’t do a good job for somebody you give ‘em their money back but if you do a shit job even though you may have tried you apologize and give ‘em their money back.
Yes but within the year, not 3 weeksWasn't there some kind of stipulation, he had to actively search for a job to get his buyout $?
Maybe the players should pay Franklin back then for playing shitty.Where I come from if you don’t do a good job for somebody you give ‘em their money back but if you do a shit job even though you may have tried you apologize and give ‘em their money back.
@roaminglion 😂 wasn’t it Steve Spurrier that let Washington off the hook when he resigned because he didn’t believe he was getting it done when if Washington had fired him they would’ve had to pay him a lot of money? I believe I’m right but it may have been someone else. Man I loved Steve Spurrier I use to love watching him on the sidelines that dude could coach and he wasn’t like Saban and Meyer where he would only go somewhere where he knew he had the best players he took on big time challenges. Doesn’t get any better at the college level than the old ball coach.
The coaches are in charge Roam not the player.
The players are getting paid and can leave whenever they want. If you don’t think they have leverage, and to some extent, are in charge... then you haven't been paying attention.@roaminglion 😂 wasn’t it Steve Spurrier that let Washington off the hook when he resigned because he didn’t believe he was getting it done when if Washington had fired him they would’ve had to pay him a lot of money? It ain't 2010 anymore, the players have a lot of power.
Sounds like the OB room is pretty banged up. Little Cliffy has been taking snaps as backup to Grunk.
Let me be the 1st, bench Grunk, let's see what Cilfford can do! 🤣

Imagine being a coach and having your career determined by decisions made by 18 year olds.
It’s hard to imagine every offensive coach we have sucks but that’s what it’s looking like. The players don’t suck the coaches do. Not one of these guys seen the writing on the wall? James Franklin, OL, QB, WR coaches and OC couldn’t see the problems. 5 fudging coaches has been this bad? Just goes to show how good our defense was 2022-2024 because when it’s not good we see the results. This is more proof Manny needs to be hired today! Smh
Brohm is not as interesting as Manny? I understand the OSU OC is a risk as he hasn't been a head coach. I would make him 3rd. Clearly Brohm is an offensive coach and Manny is defensive.
I'm not sure how Manny being a HC is a positive, he was a disaster at Miami and Duke has lost to Tulane and UConnBrohm is not as interesting as Manny? I understand the OSU OC is a risk as he hasn't been a head coach. I would make him 3rd. Clearly Brohm is an offensive coach and Manny is defensive.
I remember we considered another HC that was a disaster at Miami 😎. Has Miami lost its advantage or was it only coach related? What was Miami's advantage? Pretty girls, warm? NIL$ beats that.
Coaches are a crap shoot like QB's. A lot can get you into the playoffs, 1/100 get you to the finals. And then they also need to win the QB crapshoot ad keep him healthy. What everyone wants is not easy. But gee wiz Beaver anyone can beat JF's record against ranked teams.
Terry Smith almost did it yesterday with JF's team and his backup QB and LB.
Agreed. Another important factor in a coaches success is an intangible quality. He needs to "fit in" at the place. Manny already showed that he was a good fit at PSU. I'd give him a go!

And he has also proven that he is not capable as a head coach. Couldn’t win at Miami and Duke has a regressed since he has been there.
@psujoe they were 9-4 last year and the best Elco ever did was 9-4. Let the season finish out and we’ll see. The Oregon coach that’s at Miami now ain’t lighting it up either I just don’t believe the kids in Florida want to go there. All the schools in Florida are average or below average. Manny has never had the support or the players that he’ll have at Penn St. he did as DC and we seen the results.

You were right about seeing lots of Red in the Stadium. Indiana fans travel well
@southern-psu-fan he plays in the worst major college football conference in the country by far. If he’s not winning at least 10 games while playing in that shit conference I have zero interest in hiring him.
