Superbowl

  1. Glad it is someone different playing.
  2. I can see being for the Rams because of PSU players
  3. Not watching, UnAmerican not to watch the SB?  Yea.  NFL decided it was American to pass on the National Anthem.

Typically the ads are better than the game, halftime is 'raunchy', and the game is over by halftime.

Tired of being told what to think, I have PSU degrees, I can think.

The National Anthem is being sung at the Super Bowl, so what do you mean it's being passed on?

It's actually being performed by Mickey Guyton, who is nominated for three Grammy Awards: best country album, best country song and best country solo performance.

Not sure what you have against this? I am not judging at all, just curious what you meant.

@roaminglion  I tried to respond but it was leading to politics so I scratched it 😂  Roam, I’m going to Daytona and spend speed week down there with my family and we’re going to the Daytona 500 for my first time ever 😁🇺🇸 I will be sporting my Penn St Football gear though except for race day, I’ll have my Jeff Gordon pit shirt on that I’ve had for ever. Man do I look like a punk azz punk in that shirt 😂. Let’s go LA

Yea the National anthem may be played but when the NFL, a business, with contract language decided that it was OK to use 1st amendment rights during the national anthem they lost me.

You don't have all the same rights when you wear the company uniform, there is a franchise agreement.  You want to express yourself, fine, you can do it in your street clothes...  Some people with different beliefs do a similar thing and the NFL or the franchise might enforce it

NFL made certain business decisions....I get to also.

Not politics.  Just freedom to make decissions.  Alternate forms of entertainment exist NFL.  I get I don't matter.

That is also one of the little reasons I have been boycotting the NFL now for like 3 to 4 seasons.  The incident with ... help me with this spelling ... Villievo ??  A starting Offensive Lineman for the Steelers.  Read up on it if you're not familiar.  But this entire season I may have watched 4 minutes total.  The superbowl I do watch just for the grandness of it all, and plus for the commercials. And with me cutting my cable cord earlier this year I ended up missing some PSU games which irked me, but luckily Peacock Streaming had the SB

It’s just a few bad apples baby don’t let their politics ruin your life. Most of the NFL players are good guys and do a lot for other people you just don’t hear all the good things they do. Guys y’all heard me talk about Cam and all the good things he’s does and I’m telling ya he does a lot because I drive a truck and I deliver to some of these boys clubs he gives money to. My buddy Lee won’t eat at Chick-fil-A, won’t buy Nike, won’t watch sports and he gives me a hard time because I love them 3 things but he’ll stay on Facebook lol 98.9999999% of people are good don’t let that 1% drag you down being miserable with them enjoy the blessings that Jehovah God has given us when we wake up baby

For those who chose not to watch. You missed a great rendition of the Star Spangled Banner and America The Beautiful with some of the players singing along.

I found the Villaneuva story a good one, not a reason not to watch. He went out without his teammates to listen to the star spangled banner. He didn't apologize for doing it, but rather apologized for not telling his teammates he was going to do it. That's the part he felt bad about. Also, the Steelers weren't trying to protest anything by not coming out, but rather returning to the way it was before 2010 when teams didn't come out anyway. In 2009, it wasn't standard practice for teams to be on the field, they would come out after... Tomlin wanted to "remove the team from politics one way or another"... but it didn't work out that way.

Why I think it's a good story is his teammates didn't push him away or belittle him for it. He was a well standing member of that same team for 2 more years. People didn't cancel him, he didn't cancel anyone else. It was a disagreement/misunderstanding that was handled.

When the Steeler org fined Villa for that act, that is when I lost respect and began my boycott.

I’m sorry Bob, but I don’t remember that happening. Maybe I am mistaken? Could you provide any articles confirming that?

@bdc I get that, but hard place for the Steelers to be. The team, including Villaneuva, made a unified decision to stay in the tunnel for the anthem. Then, without telling them he accidentally made it look like he was the only player who wanted to come out. Again, unintentional but still... he essentially agreed to stay in the tunnel with his team, then gaslighted them by not doing what he said.

I mean, I'd agree if he had told them he wanted to go out... BUT HE DID NOT. The entire team made a unified decision (he confirmed this) and then he made them look pretty bad when he messed it up.

Hard spot for the Steelers, because he did kinda put the other players on the spot after agreeing to stay in the tunnel

Have fun Southern! I’m jealous. I’ve been to Richmond and Dover, but never Daytona. I did the driving school at Dover. My wife bought it for me for my birthday a few years ago. It was a blast. I would like to do it at a bigger track, maybe Talladega or Daytona. Enjoy!

@southern-psu-fan You can't top the NFL, Southern..Thats why I m  a season  ticket holder..Thye throw a party like none other..Whole day was great, pre-game, the anthem, half time show, and the game..The game has been good for yrs after they had  a poor period

Most watched show in America; 112 mil viewers sunday...Theyre marketing geniuses...While game talk will dominate the week, the draft, the schedule  day, OTA's  are all on agenda keeping this league in the headlines as   a 365 day operation...
