Interestingly enough, the B1G favorite sons are exempt from opening the season against a conference opponent.  Only PSU, Indiana, Northwestern, Purdue and Nebraska face a B1G opponent to kick off the 2022 season.

I still want the Big Ten to explain how we keep opening the conference season on the road.

If we take em out, great.  I still think a "pre-conference tuneup" makes the going a bit easier. 

@rip Ideally yes, but ask O$U or Iowa about playing Purdue mid season.  This way Purdue doesn't have a tune up either. On paper, we have more talent, let's do it! ....just not on a Thurs night.

They always are, a delusional fans that wants their coach fired every single year unless the win an NC. Even then, they complain they didn't win big enough.

Sure, most fanbases have their rabid crazy fans for which nothing is ever good enough... but it's like half of Auburn's entire fanbase is like that, including their boosters.

Gotta say I actually prefer Thursday night games as long as its not on F'ing ESPN. Leaves the weekend wide open for hunting, fishing, golfing or just F'ing off without any emotional attachment to the boobtube and the dreaded pissed offness if a Saturday loss is the outcome.

Not really, BOB.  Illinois is Indiana's season opener, but Illinois opens there season on Aug 27 vs Wyoming.

@been-there-ii  man looking at the schedule with all the problems going on at auburn beat Purdue and I’m smelling 5-0 going into the Michigan game playing with a chit load of confidence baby. This just might be the season James Franklin is looking for we definitely have some help on the way and Clifford and CV will be weapons at QB. I’m still thinking CV will be the man but  if it’s Clifford so be it, he brings plenty of game time winning experience. Clifford has proved he can win 11 games and a Cotton Bowl, just saying
