I want football to happen as much as anybody else....but not enough to see more lives lost. I am fortunate enough to have my parents and in-laws still alive in their 80's and I would love to keep it this way for awhile. I am down here in Florida this week and very few people are being safe now that the state has opened agained. Unless we keep social distancing, this is NOT going away anytime soon.
Sorry, but we need to get this under control and safe practicing is a must.

it IS under control. Wake up. You are being lied to, and have been all along. CDC released new projections. I've said it all along, it's the flu. if wolf and cuomo didn't force nursing homes to take in covid patients, we aren't even having this discussion. That's a fact.
We’ve made our bed with all the kissing up to China now we have to lay in it. Hopefully goi g forward the people we vote for won’t sell us out like Obama, Bush 1 and 2 and Clinton did. I’m at fault too because I voted for 3 of these sell outs! Lol
Hey, on my defense with George W he convinced me Saddam had weapons on mass destruction. I really believe him lol. Now all this crap might cost me a Penn State football season 😡 I just got to deal with it!
Yeah, I'll trust my wife who's the head of the ICU and trauma at the hospital here rather than all these "experts" telling us it's all in our imaginations.
I guess they think my wife is putting on elaborate ruse for my benefit, taking all those precautions for no reason at all.
Yep. And I'll also trust my mother who's an ICU RN and sees this stuff firsthand on a day to day basis. It's funny, I've found out that there are more covid-19 experts on football and wrestling forums then anywhere else in the US.
Granted, there are some parts of the country that are least affected than others; but it is still going to reach them. I understand that everyone is climbing the walls to get back to normal but this needs to be done slowly and with a well thought out plan.
These conspiracy theorists crack me up on these forums.....but thats a topic for another day.
Stay safe gents
There really are no experts. I'm tired of hearing the term. People might call themselves experts or the news might call them experts, but they are just normal people with government jobs making predictions and models based on assumptions. This was new disease, so how could they be experts? It new to everyone. They have been very wrong for 3 months now.
I think Dr Fouci and Dr Birx has been pretty much spot on they’ve just got drug into the politics and they don’t know how to be political they just know how to be great scientists. We’ve lost around 100k when it could’ve been 2 or 3 million so IMO we’ve done a good job but it’s now time to get back to work and get Ole southern here some penn st football in the fall with the stadiums full!

And I trust the people from UPMC and Penn State Hershey...the peak happened weeks ago. Numbers are dropping FAST. Nittany Med hasn't ordered a covid test in 14 days. UPMC 20....PSU Hershey 14 days......it's over....it WAS bad....now it's over.
...so you changed the argument from "it was fake, you're being lied to, and it's the flu" to now "the peak is over and numbers are dropping fast"
Dr. Fouci predicted between 100k and 250k deaths if I remember right if Trump shuts the country down and we’ve had around 100k die. Where would we be had Trump not done what Dr. Fouci and Dr. Birx said do? It’s possible we may have lost 2 to 4 million people. I’m for getting back to work now but I do believe Dr Fouci and Dr Birx saved millions of lives. Hey Murray, I wasn’t for the shutdown because IMO you don’t risk 350 million people lives and that what Trump did but it was his call and that’s why people voted for him to make tough calls. Only time will prove if he made the right call.

That Fox News list, so many things wrong. #12 even points to an article from a month ago stating "SHOCK REPORT FROM SWEDISH REPORTER: Sweden Will Reach Herd Immunity in 2 Wks" yet over 5 weeks later Sweden is nowhere near herd immunity and has 5x the cases and deaths as it's neighbors Norway and Finland. High estimates say 30% of Stockholm has had COVID-19, and 10-15% of the rest of the country. That's a far cry from the 70% plus needed countrywide to even think about herd immunity.
They throw statements out like "NYC has 18 million people and Sweden only 10 million yet so many more deaths in Manhattan!", which completely disregards the fact that NYC has people living on top of each other and is a world travel hub, while Sweden is a country spread out by thousands of miles. Compare it to similar countries like it's neighbors? What a surprise that Sweden's response to COVID now looks like chit.
Sweden Deaths: 4125
Finland & Norway Combined Deaths: 420
All neighboring countries with similar terrain, population, and urban/rural areas. The difference? Sweden didn't lock down and Norway & Finland did. Why are people even talking about Sweden like it's some herd immunity champion? They did nothing but show that not locking down caused 10 times more death than it's similar neighbors who did lock down. SMH.
It really boils down to what is important. For Herd Immunity to work more people have to die. Hundreds of Millions of US Citizens would need to be infected - like 70% - to acheive a Herd Immunity chance. You start opening up stadiums and other places that house 1,000's and 100,000's of people, the spread will be much worse than it was this last go around. WE have it somewhat controlled, numbers are declining all because most people are practicing safe distancing and the weather has changed up north.
This virus has to be spread out over time and a vaccine needs to be secured before you see life like it was 6 months ago. I am not saying we can't have football or any other sport, but opening up stadiums and places were mass people gather is not smart. This ain't Chicken Pox, it is a much more agressive virus and caries a higher risk of severe disease.
Sorry - I am not ready to give up my parents, sick children in hospitals and others who's immunity systems are not up to par so I can watch Penn State football. I want football as bad as everyone here, but I would rather miss a season and get this viurs wiped out.
Im all for taking care of people that needs care I’m talking about people like myself need to get out and get to work. The elderly and sick need to isolate and stay isolated until it’s safe.
Bill, I've met you on more than one occasion and truly respect your PSU and HS football knowledge. I've even sent you play off and after game celebration pictures from my hs alma mater. IMHO, to say "wake up" around the seriousness of CV19 is naive especially today marking 100,000 ( and climbing ) lives lost. Here in Erie county where the infection count is SPIKING, few victims are over 60 suggesting these are not nursing home cases and its not the flu season so that's not the it. In fact, most infected are those in their 20's and 30's and many in the teens. This group is the most likely to not observe social distancing unless they are the unfortunates to work in grocery stores. The good news is in the state where the heaviest concentration comes from the south east counties.....and Wolf acted long ago to curtail it.
I understand the nation and economy must open, after all, my background is in food manufacturing with heavy concentration on beef, pork and turkey for food service. This business space is the most severely affected so I get it. What is needed is a real and guarded plan that has a chance to work. Herd immunity with shoulder to shoulder gatherings of 500 to 50,000 doesn't make sense from a humanity standpoint.

And I respect you. However, wolf herded the elderly into death chambers as did cuomo a dB that goon in nj. If they didn’t make that order we aren’t having this discussion. Numbers are peaking? Rah because we are testing WAY more people. The CDC released new estimates. .24% is the death rate. The National graphic shows deaths dropping daily. Hospitals are EMPTY and layongnpeople off. It’s over. It was a bad flu. You can’t stop it. As the folks at UPMC said, we are only prolonging the spread. I research the data every day for coaches and PIAA. This thing will be over very soon.
@billmurray Hospitals are laying people off because they're not doing elective surgeries; that is where the bread and butter lies in the health care industry. I would think someone that is researching data on a daily basis would understand that.
@lakerie: Greetings Mr Lake!!! I've been following the Covid-19 data from Maine these past few days for two reasons, my g-pa and g-ma. It seems the good governor of Maine open things up just in time for the Memorial Day tourism flow and now today they are reporting 28 new cases and 2 more deaths. Coincidence?? Maybe, but only time will tell. Reportedly, a young restaurant worker in Portland tested positive for it so its no telling how many people may have been exposed to it while traveling to and from their destinations.
What’s the repercussions of 40 million people losing their jobs? I’d rather go to work and take my chances but this is just me. If I die because of going to work at least I died doing what a GOD told me I had to do. It’s a tough call either way.
a few things:
Southern, I solute those like yourself that keep supply chains in tact as well as those brave healthcare workers like Roam’s and Pa kid’s wives and others. I agree we have to go back to work but be smart about with a plan. Currently it’s a hodgepodge of state and nationally recommended plans with no consistency If you can work at home, stay at home. Bars don’t need to be packed. The stupidly packed pool party that happened last week in the Ozarks should be interesting in a few weeks as infection cases climb. Please wear masks in public and don’t spew bull shirt about it being my right because “I’m not scared”. Don’t they realize they spread the infection to others when going to the store or back home? This is not the regular flu or even just a bad flu. When did you ever hear of mass graves being dug in Brazil and Italy or refrigerated trucks utilized to store the dead as they did in NYC and NJ from the flu? Public events like sporting events, pool parties, festivals, political rallys etc is an open invitation for a second and more serious wave.
Good to hear from you Pakid. I’m glad you and your grandparents are well. I know you don’t want to hear it but there are some really cool videos and mentions about you on a popular wrestling forum I go to.
That’s all, stay well all.
@thepakid NO, THEY'RE EMPTY period. NOBODY is going to the hospital, INCLUDING covid patients. and its because THIS THING IS OVER. and NOW FAUCI agrees with me....Ya'll aint seeing the truth I'm sorry to say. Masks? pacifiers. Second wave? Not coming....Don't believe Dr Fauci now? What will you all do when EVERYONE starts saying what I've been telling you???? And here's another nugget, since I have YET to be wrong, contact tracing? That will soon be deemed unconstitutional and the recommendations for it will also disappear. https://gis.cdc.gov/grasp/COVIDNet/COVID19_5.html
Lake, I wish I knew how to put my picture of me with my mask on because you’d love the mask. Maybe my man navylion can put it up he’s good at working all this technical stuff lol. I showed him the other day. Y’all should see that big smoker grill navylion has it’s a good one you could cook 3 hogs in that thing

Youre wrong. Hand to face. That's how most spreads. FROM THE CDC: The primary and most important mode of transmission for COVID-19 is through close contact from person-to-person. Based on data from lab studies on COVID-19 and what we know about similar respiratory diseases, it may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this isn’t thought to be the main way the virus spreads.
You touch someone, you touch your face, you get it. Now the masks....in video above, Fauci himself says it's a symbol.
FROM THE CDC: The virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to spread mainly from person to person, mainly through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. AGAIN, COUGHS OR SNEEZES.....not from regular breathing or talking or even yelling....PROJECTILE MASSES...NOT THE OCCASIONAL SPITTLE.
THIS is why, during flu season, we are told to FREQUENTLY WASH OUR HANDS....
This is ALSO what the people from PSU Hershey, Geisinger and UPMC have told us as well as those at their hospitals. Masks are for your own comfort to your minds. period.
