@the-funeral-director I didn’t say auburn wasn’t any good, I said they were not a top 4 team. When auburn and the Tide hook up the best team doesn’t always win it’s a brutal rivalry.
Every team in the country has brutal rivalries...The games matter...Bama lost and didn't even play in their conference championship that year and got in the CFP over a team that was undefeated...Ultimately that undefeated team played and beat the team that got in ahead of them...So how can you say that team wasn't worthy of being in that playoff ahead of the team that didn't even play for their conference title? That season exposed this whole system as the sham and farce that it is....
Southern you are trying to defend the indefensible...
@the-funeral-director what am I defending? I wasn’t for Alabama gettin in the playoffs when they lost to auburn I said on here that Alabama knew what was on the line when they lost to auburn. I was for Ohio St gettin in even though they had 2 losses?
So tell me why Cincinnati shouldn't be in the CFP?
@the-funeral-director Cincinnati is a lightweight team and they’ll get beat down by any team in the true top 5. They play a garbage schedule compared to the SEC or big 10. If we had an eight team I might put ‘em in but no way with only 4
So tell me why Cincinnati shouldn't be in the CFP?
"Because I say so, they aren't a Big Dawg"
That's essentially the argument.
"...they’ll get beat down by any team in the true top 5."
Well, congratulations because you just proved yourself wrong. You had ND in your true top 5 the week Cincinnati beat them.
Not only did they not get beat down... they won in South Bend.
Well considering Cincy doesn't play anybody and that is the crucks of your argument who has Georgia or Bama played this year? Talk about a garbage schedule...You asked about a team from a non power 5 schedule beating a big dawg team...I gave you 2 and Roam gave you a 3rd...I gave you UCF beating Auburn who beat Bama that year when Bama "won" the CFP and was the mythical "National Champ". I would argue that Cincy this year has a better team than UCF team had the year they went undefeated...This year I would argue that the B1G is the best conference from top to bottom by a wide margin...If I had to pick the 4 teams today I would pick Georgia, Ohio State, Cincy and Oregon for the CFP...
You probably didn't see my post, Cincy did play someone in his true top 5 this year and won... Notre Dame
I know you said Cincy played a true top 5 team and beat em but Southern says they haven't played anybody...It makes no sense...smfh
@the-funeral-director remember last year when I told you Georgia would beat Cincinnati and Alabama would beat Ohio St? I’m telling ya Cincinnati will not beat Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma,Oregon or Ohio St. ND is a good win for Cincinnati but you know what ND gets when they play in the playoffs. They’ll get drilled FD
They are undefeated this season...They have a top win over a power school which is more than anybody in the SEC can say...If they go unbeaten let em play for the title...Anything less turns this into a farce and it has been a farce for years...I would argue that UCF won the national title the year they went undefeated...Tough to argue against it as they were unbeaten and beat the team that beat the "national champs" just a month earlier...
So let me get this straight, you said Cincy would get beat down by any true top 5 team. Then I showed you that ND was in your true top 5 when Cincy beat them, which not only proves your previous statement false... but shows they would beat a true top 5 team.
And your response is basically "Well ND isn't really a true top 5 team because.... ummm playoffs"
Come on man
Cincy has done a really nice job this year. They played a great game against Georgia last season and had a really good year then too. They are a good reason to expand the playoffs to 8 teams. BUT you can't play their type of schedule and compare it to what most of the current top 10 teams are playing this year. Regardless of which power 5 conference we think is the best this year, all of them are playing against some of the BEST players in the country week in and week out. That grind is nothing that Cincy can relate to and they should just accept this, get a nice NY6 bowl game and make a statement to the CFP committee that the field should be expanded to 8 teams.
@roaminglion things change as the year goes roam the true top 5 today
Oh come on, that's just such a cop out. You are just using circular logic: "Cincy can't beat a true top 5 team because if they beat a true top 5 team it means they weren't really a true top 5 team"
That is complete and utter BS.
With logic like that no wonder people think the system is biased and corrupt.
@mtnittanylion you still think i lost my shirt this weekend ?? You still think OSU is going to lose their last 3 games ? Wake up Nit Nation . OSU has more talent than anybody else in the big 10 and while i still give Michigan a chance to beat them in Ann Arbor , OSU is the only team that has a shot of doing anything in the CFP as usual . I watched the entire Purdue game and even though Purdue didnt quit and scored some in 2nd half , they werent even close to OSU in terms of talent . We shall see what happens but OSU looks like its just starting to roll . That is a scary offense
@cantonlion Ohio St has way more talent than any team in the big 10 and it’s not even close but when they get in the playoffs that changes and I’m sure they’ll get their asses handed to ‘em again by Georgia or Alabama it’s pretty much a pattern that’s gone back 30 years. It is what it is. Now Ohio St might have a better chance if a lightweight like Cincinnati gets in but I don’t see the CFP committee putting them in.
@southern-psu-fan ??? in 2014 they won the NC beating BAMA and Oregon .Last year they destroyed Clemson and got whipped by BAMA in NC .OSU can play with anybody and match talent with anybody .Doesnt meen they will win every time . They also have a NC in 2002 . So thats 2 NC in last 20 yrs . What do we have ??? ZERO . I have watched BAMA and Georgia and OSU can beat both of those teams on any given night .
@cantonlion it all looks good on paper until you get on the field. Check Ohio States record against the SEC and Clemson the last 30 years and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Yes they did have a few good wins against Miami and Alabama that’s 2 games in 30 years brother that ain’t good enough with the talent Ohio St has.
@southern-psu-fan THis Cincinnati debate is interesting...LIke you, Ive posted before, I don t think Cincy is one of top 4 teams..I attended the ND-Cincinnati game....and left somewhat unimpressed by Cincy..The overriding sentiment of fans I spoke to that night was that ND handed them the game..ND threw an interception at Cincy 5, fumbled a kickoff away, threw an interception in their own territory, all leading to a 17-0 half time deficit..ND is a much better team now, they deployed three QBs that day, all leading to Coach Kelly saying after the game, they must stabilize the QB position...ND closed to 17-13, with a new QB second half; Cincy showed its mettle by driving length of field after taking over with about 6 minutes left...I really believe ND would beat them today..AS would these other teams under consideration..
All of which is neither here nor there..The Bearcats won the game, they beat power 5 Indiana, when the Hoosiers, while a bad team, were a little better then, and led Cincy 14-0..So theyve been tested...and if they run the table, SMU could be tough, if the system is to maintain any integrity, and cred, must be in the playoff..And while its last year, true, they did give Ga all it could handle...and I dont care how many starters were out, Ga is a SEC powerhouse..
@culture-thrives I believe Cincinnati is a good football team and they deserve a good bowl game but they are not a top 4 team. If it was 8 I’d put ‘em in but with only 4 teams it ain’t happening with that garbage schedule. Compare to what the big 10 and SEC play their schedule is crap. I believe the CFP committee is thinking the same thing.
So to sum it up... When Cincy beats a true top 5 team in ND, they weren't really that good. But now ND is good and if they played again, ND would win so let's not give them credit for beating ND.
Got it
Nothing like constantly rationalizing why you wont give someone credit.
