Three weeks ago I asked the forum if it was time to move on from CJF to another coach.  I was ridiculed for the question by a few members, but today I ask the same question, is it time?

No but we better win next year. I’m a big James Franklin supporter but these situations usually get worse but if anybody can get things turned around it’s James Franklin. We need to find some play makers on both sides of the ball. Rutgers beating Michigan 17-0 you know Harbaugh is feeling the heat?

We need a QB. My hope is Clifford works hard with Cirocca in the off-season or we find someone in the portal.

Without a decent QB, nothing else would matter. Clifford has been a mess this year, not sure why but he's much worse than last year. Perhaps he's just not comfortable in the new offense, and is being asked to do things he's not quite sure about yet? Hopefully this season can be a huge learning opportunity and they get on the same page.

@roaminglion. Hopefully one of these stud QB’s on another team or in high school sees we are struggling at QB and wants to be part of the Penn State football team like fields did with Ohio st. I believe we’ve got a great chance to pick up a good QB but man we’ve got to do something with our defense we’ve been struggling to get off the field on 3rd and 4th downs for 3 years now. I’m looking at the last 3 years when the defense didn’t step up and get a stop in crunch time to win the game. Penalties and dropped INT and giving up big plays have cost us most of the games we’ve lost and that’s a Pry problem.

Michigan finds a way to win. Ole John Donovan has Washington going in the right direction so far they put up 44 points. I guess Ga Tech has given up on playing football. I was just scanning through the sports news and this stuck out to me lol. Dam losing stinks! I’m trying to talk myself into gettin on the bow flex this morning and I just don’t feel like it. This 0-5 is taking a toll on ole southern here 😢

In regards to Clifford, IMO he’s an athlete but not a quarterback at this level. In regards to the team, it just looks like a flat out mess with no leadership on either side of the ball.

I was a big Franklin supporter. Now, he doesn’t pass the smell test. For 6.5 million bucks, he absolutely is accountable. There is NO excuse for the team’s poor performance this year. Not sure why, but he has lost the players.

I say get him out of here, he is not a good coach at all under pressure let him coach at high school that is better suited for him.  As for him wining the big ten the players did that in spite of him.  After the Michigan game they had a players only meeting and said that will never happen to them again and it did not.  What this team needs is player leadership like that.  This was reported by numerous people at the time.

Not sure why Roberson wasn't available to play yesterday, but I think this is great time to start over.....from the HC down to the QB.  I would appoint Stubblefield as interim HC - since the only highlight of the year thus far is our WR play - and start a new hunt.

Just saying....Vandy is 0-7.  JF is associated with 2 winless programs this year!  Doesn't appear he can build tradition!

GO STATE! BEAT MICHIGAN!!!

If you dump Franklin, who do you replace him with? At this time, I just don't see enough coaching talent out there. Maybe Luke Fickel but would he want to come here? Unlike Ohio State we don't have a Ryan Day already in the pipeline. I guess I am willing to give it another year for Franklin to turn things around but recruiting and transfer portal losses might be telling as to where this program is under him.

I wish mtnittanylion but we know that will never happen with the sandusky stigma. That’s a guy who is unfairly a casualty of that whole mess.

A huge component of the old D was  Larry Johnson. I know scrappy did his thing but the corners have always been suspect with this team did the most part. Good d starts with d line.

Well, I am just going to continue to be a PSU fan and hope that something changes soon.  I have lost my faith in the coaching staff, not sure if this is fair or not (during this crazy time) but I just don't think they have a clue right now.  I understand they have lost some key players starting with Parsons opting out and now Freiermuth, but that doesn't excuse the lack of game time adjustments and play calling.  If JF has lost his ability to reel these players back in and restore confidence in who they are and what they are....times up!

Remember, JF has a group of players WHO are the BEST players from each or their high schools.  This is not like Penn State has 4 or 5 really good kids and the rest are so,so.  Lack of Div I experience and playing time?  I will give him that one.  But outside of Ohio State, he hasn't faced a single team THAT has an overall better roster than he has....PERIOD!

Whew, this is tough year Lake!

@mtnittanylion   I wish coach Schiano was at PSU. Someone with fight.  How about Matt Millen ... or Trey Bauer ... a real a** kicker. Recruit to for that. Today we have to coddle our soon to be NFL stars it seems.  I watched some old TPSU games on the B1G network and PSU looks aggressive and hard. Curtis Enis was one hell of a tough runner.  When they tackled people then, teeth rattled. Today, apparently we don't want to jeopardize our NFL chances so the rule appears to be we bump a guy and expect him to cooperate by going down. If he doesn't ... oh well.  There are many real good tackles but way to many bumps. I see this team 0-8. The cherry on it all will be when Rutgers hangs us up.

I can even live with a few bumps, but the whiffs are totally unacceptable, lol.

@lakerie: Hello Mr Lake.  Hope things are going well with you and yours.  I'm up here in Maine visiting my Grandparents for the Thanksgiving and I can tell you this much: as many of you may know, Gramps is a significant donor to the university; not a major donor by any means.  Anyhow, I can tell you that his phone has been ringing non-stop since yesterday evening and the name Scrap has been mentioned.  For the record, Gramps doesnt think JF or anyone on the offensive side should go.... yet......but something has to be done about Pry and Terry Smith.  Many donors were upset that Sean Spencer wasn't given a counter-offer to stay.

This administration had there chance at Spike & Larry, but the spineless idiots opted to bring in outsiders so as to distance themselves from the Sandusky issue.  Now they're paying the price.  IMO there is a lot to be said about tradition and putting the program in the hands of a "Penn State man".

I sort of agree but it doesn't seem to be an overwhelming success at Michigan. Unllike the Paterno years a solid foundtion of Roman concrete could be built around your coach and staff, now days that foundation is quicksand. It's not about the school anymore but what's in it for me.

Yes, the defense was totally exposed this year despite all the great recruits on that side of the ball. I think Roam disgrees with me though he makes good points about 30 some points scored by Iowa were on offense turnovers.

The new one time transfer rule with immediate playing eligibility goes into effect in January and my sources are telling me that significant number of PSU players want out and these are not all backup guys, some are high profile projected starters for 2021.

@rip Larry was offered the same job, said he wanted to be HC.  I think he should have had a shot, and offered scrap DC
