Should we win next week, irony may have it's day.

The first time they expand the playoff, we're ranked in the top 4. Lmao

I don’t believe James Franklin is the hot seat but he’s definitely feeling the heat to get in the playoffs. You could tell he was coaching to win that game today and he made the all right calls in nitty gritty crunch time. Nobody seen that chit coming faking that punt 😂 it was a good win today.

26-25 up against a 6-4 Minnesota team. They sure came to play. Unfortunately,  I had to turn off the game at halftime and head out. I was lucky to get Jack Ham on the radio. This doesn't look good for any aspirations of a playoff team, National championship.  Take away those mental mistakes by Minnesota and this game would have been upset city. Franklin had to take huge risks and dig deep with some trickery to get the win. I believe next week will be the last win. Minnesota played some good man to man.

Alabama losing to Oklahoma 17-3, Texas A&M losing to Auburn 21-14, Ole Miss lost to Florida... all teams with worse records than Minnesota and unranked as well.

I'll take the win.

Theodore Roosevelt: "Comparison is the thief of joy".

Right... in a system built upon comparing teams to select 12 for a playoff that makes perfect sense.

You know what the thief of joy in Tuscaloosa is? Alabama losing to Oklahoma, which is about to happen. I'm absolutely certain they'd take our 1 point win over that.

I think they are in. Wasnt a total blowout and Alabama just lost worse to Oklahoma. Alabama shoukd be completely out of it now after that terrible performance.

@mastert: 12 ranked teams played on the road Saturday. 6 of them lost; 4 to unranked teams. Of the 6 ranked teams that won, 4 were one score games.

Winning on the road is hard.

If Georgia loses to Texas in the SEC championship game does that keep them out of the playoffs with 3 losses? I don’t think they will lose but we might have some 3 loss teams in the playoffs. It doesn’t bother me if we do as long as it’s the 12 best teams, just asking

It's really a bur under someone's saddle that PSU keeps winning.

Chances are we'll lose at some point & I'm ok w/ that, we had/have a good season. Bottom line, only one fan base will be happy after the championship.

@been-there-ii  I gotta give DA some love today because the last 2 weeks he’s played his butt off. James Franklin also needs some love because what we seen last night was a determined coach that trusted his team to put his butt on the line and they got it done. Best win of the year imo

It is interesting, depending on your bias what a win vs an unranked team or for that matter a loss to an unranked team means.

AL was not out of it after Vandy.  They should be now but...  Two losses to unranked teams

A&M Loss

Colorado Loss

Did I miss any others?

AND THEN the other Belle of the Ball (OSU) blew us out?  Really?  Maybe we need a definition for blowout.  Final Score and scores at some point in the game?  Anyway, I don't see any sane definition that makes that game a blowout.  an AGAIN yes, a home loss yes.  A mental block, maybe.  Short a receiver (Lambert Smith?) maybe.

Any B10 team that has more than 1 loss sucks whereas a SEC team with up three losses can be argued as having a signature win, losses to highly ranked teams ...  Heck we have a 1 loss B10 team that sucks.

And what is it with the SEC where they seem to play D3 teams last week and this?  That was for the beginning of the season?

I believe we also seen a different DA after JF got on his butt. Don’t know why he did but whatever was said, worked. He was having a good game regardless but it put a chip on his shoulders. I saw a determined better QB.

James Franklin is a genius and a master strategist.  Penn State deliberately lost to Ohio State so that they wouldn't have to play in the Big 10 Championship and will be better rested for the playoffs.

(Author's Note:  I will use that statement when I troll my peers at work this week.  Since this is also Iron Bowl Week and I live in Alabama, I will make a comparison between the 2017 Iron Bowl when Alabama deliberately lost to Auburn in the Iron Bowl and avoided having to play Georgia in the SEC Championship game but then ended up in the playoffs.)

@tae-buetel imo that’s why only conference champs should’ve been in the playoffs in the 4 team playoffs. I don’t think Alabama lost on purpose though 😂

I am no James Franklin fan by any means but beating Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota all in the same season with two being on the road is impressive given the nature of Big Ten football. Additionally this is the first 3 consecutive 10 win seasons since 1980-1982. Again JF has plenty to scrutinize but I want to give him his flowers where credit is due. Penn State has been quit the Edge/ TE factory for the NFL in recent years which is a credit to his recruiting. If we could apply that formula to WR this program could be deadly.

Maybe THAT last loss to Ohio State woke him up or changed him! That was not one of the best Penn State performances Saturday night, but JF played to win and he made all of those 4th down calls in the final drive.  Up until that last drive, the defense played ok and well enough not to lose but JF took the pressure of them and put it on offense.....and they got it done!

And for the those ( not personal here SOUTHERN ) questioning Allar vs Pribula, that very last play that secured the win is why Allar is the guy.  Warren was not the initial intended receiver....Singleton was the target, if not available, then Allar to run.....neither where there and he came back across to Warren. He read his progression quickly and made the right decision.  I think Pribula would have kept the ball and came up short.

Regardless, JF did a really nice job in that final drive and did a great job keeping this TEAM AND ALLAR settled down even when they were down 10 points.  I will take that 1 point win over a decent Minny team on the road all day long. Sure beats losing to Oklahoma, Auburn, Kansas and Florida Saturday night and getting knocked out of the playoff contention!!!!

GO STATE!!!!!
