Regarding slander/defamation suits...
1. They are very hard to win, even if your on the side of right.
2. If the other person has no money, what are you suing for? Just puts everything out in the forefront, and rumors swirl even more.
3. You have to prove you were actually harmed. Exactly how was Urban harmed by it? He's still married and went to OSU and made tons of money. Even if it wasn't true, it didn't "harm" him so he wouldn't win the case anyway.
You don't win defamation cases simply because someone lied about you. You have to prove they did it with malice AND that you were harmed by it. A guy who is still married and went on to make a lot of money elsewhere is not going to win a case for defamation EVEN IF it didn't happen. So not bringing a lawsuit proves nothing, it would be pointless. If anything, it would hurt him because as soon as he lost the case people who didn't understand why would speculate that he must have done it.
