Campbell and Stoops would be awesome hires IMO but also probably pretty hard to pry away from their current schools.

Funny they talked about Gary Patterson from TCU as he just got fired a few hours ago.

The answer to PSU coaching woes is a coach with a consistent history of top 10:

  1. Running game.
  2. Passing game.
  3. Scoring offense
  4. Run stop defense.
  5. 3rd down D stop.
  6. D' take away margin.

F the recruiting stars and class, achieve those 6 metrics and the rest speaks for itself.

Who's the man or women?

Come on tsgua, there's sarcasm in my post, however, a team that knocks out those metrics I would say is elite and those metrics become the talking point regardless of recruiting class rank, IMO.

Sure you have to have the caliber of players on a consistent basis to start with and get there from a recruiting standpoint but there's a huge difference between having the class rank and developing that class/s into perennial winners. IMO, PSU has failed at that when it comes to developing 3-4 star talent especially along the O'line and I am a firm believer without a solid O'line a team is already starting off in the hole, that's just my opinion.

The three programs you mentioned over the last ~10 years:

Ga = ~perennial 3 loss team/season season for the past 10 years.

OSU = ~ 2

AL = ~ 1

AL and OSU have just flat out been juggernauts since Saban, Myers and Day took the reigns.

My main contention with all the garbage that gets thrown around is that the HC sets the vision and is responsible/accountable for putting the puzzle together... IMO JF has done a great job of getting recruiting up and running, and running what appears to be clean program (good kids/minimal trouble/education) and maybe that's simply what it should be all about.

On another note, we whacked a huge 12 pointer yesterday morning; only problem, it was with the car while on the way to throw flies for natives; bummer all the way around!

There is one thing that always amazes me about "college football fans". They are always calling for their coach to be fired so they can go out and hire another coach that was fired by a different college.

@psu61

I guess we both missed the sarcasm in each other's post. I will say this, I'd swap records with any of the above mentioned teams in a heartbeat.

@psu61 Do you live down in PA??  That's a nice sized buck for sure!!  It's been my experience that we don't hit deer but rather the damn things run out and hit us!

We're you able to retrieve it??

I was out with my granddaughter most of the day Saturday and never saw so much as a tail. Poured ALL day. We went to a trunk or treat Sat evening and there stood a buck and two die in the parking lot of the church that hosted the activities.

Go figure!!

Tsuga,

I'm in VA and unfortunately we were not able to retrieve him. Thankfully no secondary vehicle involvement or injuries.

Or Pete Carroll's NCAA Violating USC...

Hey at least Pete has shown he can make it without the best recruits....how do you do that?

Last deer I got was with a 300 mmag.  That is a Mercedes Magnum.  I was lucky, two cars coming towards me hit two and I got down to 20 before hitting mine.  Lucky everyone stayed in their lane.  It remains a deer kill zone.

Funny thing is how lucid that 1 second was in my mind.  I could remember the cars what deer got hit first, thinking 'look for the next one, stay in your lane, why didn't you brake sooner...'

Then 'lets see if the car will make it home with this radiator leak, going to be late for work.

I always tell my family:

1) dont hit something else avoiding a deer

2) don't look at the one that just crosses, slow down and look for the follower

3) aim at their read end, they never go backwards

My son had one run into the side of his car a month ago.

I'm still not seeing the USC thing. I really don't know why all these journalists keep saying it's a great job.

Other than when they were caught cheating, they haven't done much.

@underlion I had a teacher in HS that had one run into her car in her driveway.  She said the insurance company didn't believe her if it was not for blood in the driveway and deer hair on the car

@psujoe  I believe both coaches would leave Kentucky and Iowa St for the Penn State job it’s a much better job you will have a chance to win the NC. I believe Moorhead and Yurcich would be better than both.

roam, USC is the top dawg in the PAC and it ain’t even close. USC is a top 10 job.

They may have been some shady stuff going on at USC when Pete Carroll was there but them teams he had were some of the best I’ve ever seen. NFL talent all over the field baby and y’all know how I feel about the NFL the best athletes in the world you got to be one big bad dude to make that league.

Top 10 job? SPF, good places to live are in the eyes of the beholder. You couldn't pay me enough to live in La La land, any more than you could pay me to live in Fla. Wonder if fire insurance in southern Calif is as bad as hurricane insurance in Fla. Although, there are a lot of real nice vintage cars in Calif.....and the women aren't too shabby either.

Son had a similar discussion with the insurance company.  I don't think the dear died nearby.

It ain't close? What are you smoking? Oregon has been to 2 National Title games in 11 years and won the conference 6 of the last 12 conference titles.

I mean, WTF?

Actually there was an unusually high percentage of blondes. Must be all the sun bleaches their hair out.
