Young team... Against Buffalo we blew them out in the second half. Ho-hum, still a blow out.

But this one? Had to bat down a Hail Mary for the win. Now Franklin can pummel these guys in practice for two weeks... you young guys aren't as good as you think you are. You need to practice hard. You need to be humble. You need to get to work.

Sometimes these grind games are exactly what a team needs, hopefully this is one of those times. Perhaps even the coaches will realize we can't eff around with backups anymore. Play the best player and let them go, enough of the rotations.

I doubt the team isn’t working hard. It’s just that they are young. Usually it takes a year to have a measurable increase in skill. Not sure we will notice blocking/tackling, etc, improvement soon. The bye week came at a good time. The Maryland game will be a good yard stick.

I am confident things are going in the right direction. Next year this team will be legitimate contenders for the National Championship.

I agree with both of you for the most part. Here is what my problem with the team and the program is. I have been hearing excuse after excuse regarding the offensive line. Unless the recruiting services are way off with their recruiting rankings and scouting this team has had at least 3 years of recruiting top offensive lineman. I find it hard to believe that they have whiffed on every one of these guys. So the talent is there. I have to question the development and how they are used. The 2nd issue I have is the offensive scheme. It has become stale and predictable. This team will NEVER be in the championship conversation until they can run the ball down somebodies throat when the whole world knows it's coming to put a ballgame away.

The friggin defense gave up 24 yards rushing yesterday. They are playing terrific football. Only complaint is the front 4 needs to get better with the pass rush. That is really it for the defense. They are stout...

As far as the offense is concerned. Clifford is doing fine. The RB's are fine. The WR's are catching the dag gum ball. It's all about the OLine and the stale offensive scheme and play calling. I believe part of this is because of the OLine and it's struggles. I don't have much confidence in this getting fixed or squared away because it has been this way for a few years.

I am gonna say this right now. If they don't get this offensive line thing fixed and squared away they are going to lose 4 games this year and the first loss could be in 2 weeks when they head to Maryland.

I hope I am wrong....

Anyway, that was my interpretation.

Penn State should have beat Pitt by 30+ plus points and then some.  Pitt was terrible! I have no idea what Rahne is doing and I don't think he does either.  Heck, I thought I was having a deja vu with 2 minutes to go when he called that same stupid 3rd and 7 run play like he did against Ohio State last year!! I am on the same page with you regarding the Oline!  My goodness, they only played 17 minutes against Buffalo before playing Pitt...not like they needed rest before facing another 25 minutes yesterday. They should have been full of energy and knocking guys all over the place.  Maryland and Purdue have NO business competing with Penn State and if Franklin loses either of two next games, your projected 4 losses will be in GRAVE danger!! No Pun intended!!!

All Hail Carl ...

I' ve been saying this for sometime now.  The RPO is a good system for the lesser schools in the smaller conferences.  They can win a lot of games with 2* players manning the field with a very dynamic RPO style QB that can run.  Division 1 ball, and Power 5 conference, this is a whole different level of play.  A pro style system whether it be the spread, I formation, or both is what is needed in the "big boys" league.  Let the line know what they are blocking .... a run play where they can fire off the ball and flatten the opponent.  If it's a pass play, they know it.  This standing around watching the defense fly by them (turnstiles) till they figure out if they are pass blocking or run blocking just isn't good going up against the calibre of athletes they are facing.  Could Limegrower be successful in this pro type of system, I say yes ... Rahne, not so much.

Has nothing to do with talent...This team is loaded with talent...Plenty of top OLine recruits...I lay this at the feet of the coaching staff...I don't think it has anything to do with work ethic or desire...The coaching staff needs to check out tape and look at these stunts so they get the protections down...I want this OLine and this team to succeed but right now I am concerned...Hopefully they can get this straightened out and cleaned up..

I never said we didn't have the talent .... we have a bad scheme and suspect coaching.

Anyway, that was my interpretation.

Saying that a coach can repeat the mantra that they need to work hard in no way means they weren't working hard before.

Did you ever play sports? My coaches repeatedly told us we needed to work hard, no one took that as some sort of slight that we weren't working hard before.

Same sort of stuff with bulletin board material. It's a saying that you are giving the other team ammunition to get fired up... however using you're logic that's saying the other team wouldn't have been fired up for the game. Nonsense.

A lot of good points here! I'll add the following; The play calling in the 4thQ looked a lot like the play calling last year, especially the OSU game. Just glad that I didn't hear JF say at the post-game presser; "there's a couple of things that we have to clean up!" RB by committee doesn't seem to be working, at least not against a decent defense. JF still has one more game to decide who to RS. Not putting Cain back in to grind some yardage out was a mistake that was hard to overlook, especially when JF talked him up pre-season. As for the OL, I count five players from last year's rotation that are playing this year. Pitt's two and three-star players made the OL look pretty bad in pass protection when you have to hold blocks. Limegrover really had no response to counter Pitt's blitzes and stunts.  Fortunately, PS had Narduzzi as an opposing coach. If Pitt would have scored a TD instead of going for a FG, no telling what would have happened in OT. No confidence in PS scoring during regulation time.

You are so insecure that any possible disagreement with your self proclaimed expertise sends you in a tizzy. Don’t worry guy, the most important people in your life will always love you. This is just an Internet forum, which is an unimportant place.   Have fun and don’t become defensive. Maybe get a dog. Then you always have a companion that will agree with you 100% of the time. 😁

Seems the RPO works fine for team like Alabama, Clemson, etc...  Heck Nick Saban has to take time out and explain to people why they only had 76 yards rushing and it's not a bad thing and just the nature of the RPO.

LMAO, I see the mature part of the conversation has started with Sky again. seriously, some people just can't have a conversation without resorting to childish insults. Sad...

Interesting how he thinks my disagreement with his statement is "going into a tizzy", and states I can't take someone disagreeing with my opinion... Yet he's the one insulting me for disagreeing with his opinion. Can't make this stuff up LOL 😂

Your reply has me laughing so loud my cat got so scared she ran out of the house. Anyway, obviously you interpret my take on your statement as an insult.  Differences of opinion are what keep forums fun and interesting. Roam, you need to get thicker skin. You have inferred in the past you have played football. I am sure that when you were knocked down, you got up. But, my comments should not knock you down and they weren’t intended to. However if they did, get up.

Now I have to go find the dam cat before my wife comes back. “Here kitty kitty. Here kitty kitty.”

LMAO... yes, because calling someone insecure and then saying they are going into a tizzy is "constructive". I'm sure talking about finding people "who love me" was meant in all sincerity. Come on Sky, at least have some balls and own it.

What's laughable in all of this is your insinuation that I can't take opposing opinions simply because I actually push back if I think you are wrong. If you want a bunch of people who agree with everything you say, you're probably on the wrong board.

I love the back and forth too, maybe I don't say it enough but I definitely value your opinions FD,  that doesn't mean I have to agree with some of them though! 😂

I see this in the younger generation right now, they like to give their opinions but whenever anyone pushes back on them they need a safe space or they just insult or attack them.

you're entitled to your opinion but you're not entitled to me agreeing with it LMAO
