Hello Everyone. First and foremost I want to thank you all for your continued membership to this site. This place would, literally, be nothing without you all.
Life has been a bit busy for me these past few weeks. Traveling with work and the blessing of having my first child has really taken up a good bit of time and has kept me from the boards as much as I would have liked. During that time away it seems that some things have gotten a little out of hand so I am going to address them now.
Number 1: This is a Penn State Sports community. It's a place for people of all different backgrounds to come together to talk about the team we love. Sports is one of the last great uniters left in this world. We should cherish that.
So, in that regard, the personal attacks need to end now. They will not be tolerated any longer. Please do not make me ban you from the boards. I really do not want to do that. There are posters here, and on every forum that people agree with, and disagree with. That's the beauty of these places. We can have different opinions about a common theme. It's okay to disagree but it is NOT okay to result to personal attacks and name calling over that disagreement. If you do not like somebody on the board, ignore them. There is even an ignore button under each profile. Click that and you won't even see that members posts anymore.
You all do not have to like each other, but you will respect each other or I am afraid I will have to remove you from the site or worse, take the site down completely. I will not continue to give a venue for personal attacks. I know there are plenty of other options for hanging out and watching a game online but I think we have a pretty cool thing here and I would love nothing more than to keep it around. Please respect each other and the Roundtable we all sit at. Thank you!
Number 2: Let's keep the foul language to a minimum. I know this is a sports blog so I do not expect it to be non-existent but there is no reason to be dropping F-Bombs. I know I could add some language filters but I really do not want to have to do that because those types of things can slow the entire site down for everyone. So basically, if you wouldn't say it to your grandmother, don't say it here. And if you would say it to your grandmother, say it to her instead.
Number 3: I have had some requests to add some additional categories to the forum. I will honor that request and work on getting those added this week.
Number 4: I am thinking about making some strategic changes to the site. Right now the blog is the featured part that you see when you visit the site's homepage. I have just not been able to keep up with that as much as I would like. Clearly, the message board is the reason you all come here, not my blog posts. While I would still like to keep the blog around, as I do have some pretty good ideas for it, it may become secondary to the message board. If any of you are interested in contributing to the blog in the future please let me know and we can have that discussion. I do think we have some great people on this board and could make this one of the go-to places for PSU sports info but I have learned that I certainly cannot do that on my own.
Number 5: Do not start 5 different posts after every close game or loss rubbing it in the noses of PSU fans. You know who you are. I have been tolerant and allowed some people to troll the boards. If you want to remain a member you can, but I will not tolerate deliberate trolling. You do not have to be a PSU fan to be a member here, but you will respect the rules of the forum. Thank you.
In closing thank you again for coming around each day and participating in the community. I truly appreciate each and every one of your contributions. All of you, regardless of your level of fandom, make this place special. Here is to a brighter and more vibrant future for Nits of the Roundtable.
We Are!!!
Three points i’d Like to make:
1. Great idea on your changes
2. Thanks for the forum
3. ....and most important, congratulations on your first child. It doesn’t get any better than that.
Good post and congratulations Dad!
Congrats to the proud papa! And thanks for all you do for this site.
Thanks for your efforts regarding this board, and congrats on the new member of your family. I totally agree on with you on the conduct on this board, sometimes I get so disenchanted with the remarks that I just leave. Looking forward to the pruning operation.
Cave,
Well said but, sorry you even had to say it! Congrats again on the baby. You'll find that it is one of the most challenging things you will ever deal with but in the same breath the most rewarding!
Hope to meet you tomorrow night!
1. Well said and thank you for your efforts
2. Congratulations Dad
3. "So basically, if you wouldn’t say it to your grandmother, don’t say it here. And if you would say it to your grandmother, say it to her instead" ... priceless!
Congrats on becoming a father!! Our children are the only thing we can take to Heaven, so make sure you raise them accordingly....in case they have the same attitude There like they have here! LOL. I had two at a time, so I didn't have the chance to learn what I did wrong the with first one and make a halftime adjustment on the second one!
Great post by the way!
