Pick a freaking starter and be done with it. This is nonsense. The running backs? OR, OR, OR?????? What the heck is this? Just seems like the coaching staff wants to keep players from transferring or something, so let's just list them all as 1st string. STOP! If Slade is your starter, then put him as the starter and go with it. If he doesn't play well, yank him... next man up.
Same thing goes with Miranda... if he's not a starting guard, then stop listing him as one. Let the offensive line gel as a team and stop having to guess which guard will be next to them on the next series. Gonzalez is obviously one of the starters, so stop listing Miranda behind him with an "OR". Then just pick Thorpe or Miranda and be done with it. Let the line gel together, stop changing things. If one of the guards gets injured later in the season, Miranda will come in and be fine. Stop being so scared of OL injuries and feeling the need to get backups experience, because it's taking away from the starter's effectiveness!
Like I said before, Roam, IMHO Franklin & his coaching staff have somewhat of a problem in decisive decision making. I believe this is evident in the numerous "ORS" on the depth chart as well as in-game calls.
The only place i don't like the rotation is at OL...
RB, DL, LB, WR etc can have built in rotation... If a RB has a hot hand then I rotate less.
I think you are on to something and with the invention of the anytime portal a coach will need to do more to manage a roster.

I don't mind rotation at the DL, WR, or RB position, but more to spell a guy for a play or two... not to get players experience. More to just keep starters fresh.
But I'm just not a fan of rotating LBs and OLs. I believe there's a reason most other teams don't do it.

The RB group as a whole is young and inexperienced game wise so a rotation in the first to games IMO was very important.
The OL needs to be set this week and like you said if a player is not getting the job done then make a change...
Agree. Understand lot of young talent and maybe no one has stood out yet and you’re trying to get experience and keep everyone happy. However, at some point you have to name starters. I feel some motivation factor for these kids is lost when everyone gets a participation trophy and knows they will play.

I understand exactly what you mean and yes, they should know who the starters are. Relax Roam. They should take care of business on Saturday. They have a week off to get ready for B1G play, the big boys.

It's not a participation trophy, those players are talented and are putting in the work... if they were not you would not see them.
Seems the coaching staff was using these games to push healthy competition, nothing wrong with that at all.
Again in the presser Franklin stated we would be seeing less rotation. The only positions I see that can be hurt more than any is OL and I agree starters need to be named at those positions. Like it or not the free for all anytime portal is changing the dynamic of how coaches handle rosters. Why I am a huge fan of the portal closing at the start of official season practice through the season.
These first 2 games are hard to get serious for we’ll see what we got this week. I’m smelling a beat down ...45-14 nitnation
The only thing that has me concerned is the early game time. Noon KO's tend to lead to a slow start and a sloppy 1st half. I hope I'm wrong (as usual) and we see a full-game effort and major beat down like you predict Southern!
You're seeing that more and more in depth charts all over FBS. I think it has more to do with giving less information to opposing coaches than anything else, although I doubt it makes much of a difference.
