so you take a coach that stands off by himself and doesn’t even look like he’s interested in what’s going on over nn Emotional and enthusiastic coach that wants to win bad? Franklin just looks like you guys standing on the sideline collecting all your paycheck..
Like changing dictators in a 3rd world country. Good chance the next one will be worse...
Go back and look at the 5 or 6 we wanted when Franklin was hired and look how they are doing? My guess is that most wouldn't have done better.
Damn you autocorrect. Franklin just looks like a guy standing on the sideline collecting a paycheck is what that was supposed to say.
Agreed, but at least he's not a sarcastic Ahole. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for replacing Jimmy, but not with a jerk like Lanning.

OK so let’s keep the dud at the top and keep blaming coordinators and the wr’s. That makes a lot of sense. There’s a lot of football to be played in 2025 but if things end the way they almost always do under JF I wonder who takes the blame.
And talking about the alleged 5 or 6 other coaches we supposedly wanted is BS because we only wanted one guy and never seriously looked at anyone else.
@psujoe he’s got years left on his contract. Homer, I said last night go for 2 and get the win while we had the chance because I felt like we had a better chance of gettin 1 good play than having to go toe to toe with the Oregon offense. Should’ve gone for the win!
Listen...It was Penn States game to win...They had the ball in O.T. and knew what they needed to do...Penn State was wearing them down...It's quite obvious what the problem is...They need to correct the problem...I don't know if the solution is on the bench or not...But to not address the glaring problem is malpractice...Here was my mindset as a player...We are down 6 and got the ball...We score and make the 2 pt. conversion we win...In my mind the game is ours to win...In my mind we should win that game...The only way we don't score in that situation is a turnover...What gets me is he threw the ball in triple coverage on FIRST down...this wasn't a 4th and 9 desperation type of play...This was the very FIRST play of the drive...A 3rd year starter who is a senior should NEVER make that mistake and this guy makes this mistake over and over again...We were moving the ball on them on the ground...We had them worn down...They let them off the hook...I have no doubt in my mind if he don't make that boneheaded turnover that is a freshman mistake they win the ballgame...It isn't there...run for what you can get or throw the ball into the seats over his head and live for the next play...I am sorry there is no excuse for that...I don't care how you slice it or dice it...This kid just don't have it...To think otherwise is a fools errand...They keep him as the starter they are gonna lose at Ohio State and probably lose to Indiana at home and Iowa...Iowa on the road is a tough place to play and he just can't handle pressure...As I have said before...Either you can play under pressure or you can't...You can't teach a ballplayer that ability...Some players thrive under pressure and others just wilt and fade away under pressure...This kid wilts and fades away because for whatever reason he can't handle it...He isn't the answer...It's time to look for a solution and hopefully they have one on the bench...At the very least now is the time to see if you have a solution on your bench because sticking with this player is going to cost you...He is NEVER going to clutch up in these big ballgames...I wish it wasn't this way but at some point you have to face the reality of the situation...If I was coaching that team he would be sitting...The other kid would get reps with the first team and he would be playing against UCLA this Saturday...For some reason Franklin just won't do it and it is going to cost him big this season...
@the-funeral-director Y’all know I love James Franklin but the losses against the heavyweights are adding up and somebody has to be held accountable. I paid a $1000 to watch the peach bowl 2 years ago and when I watched DA in that game and how bad he was and didn’t get benched I came to this forum and told everybody on here we’re in trouble and we need another QB and Pribula would be a better fit for our offense and I got hammered for saying it. Pribula did play one series and he threw a killer TD pass and got benched for do so. We ain’t won a game yet that Pribula wouldn’t have won but we’ve lost a few that we could’ve won. I started losing faith in James Franklin after that game because I knew it was Hack all over again. I believe what my eyes see on the field, I don’t give a rats ass what the media or anybody else says about a 5* player and the potential he has, we’ve been garbage on offense sense he’s been the starter. We got some very smart people on this forum but they’d rather listen to a sports talk so called radio talk show dude than believe what they see on the field. Believe what your eyes see especially after 3 fudging years 😂 you do the same shit, you get the same shit if it’s going bad lol
Some fans are satisfied winning 10 games a year and only beating the teams you’re supposed to beat and ain’t nothing wrong with that it just ain’t me. I want to beat the heavyweights and win NC’s and win at all cause baby. I’ve always admitted having a little Barry Switzer blood in me and I’ve never denied it 😂 just win baby. I love Penn St football just as much as anybody else does and if I see anything that hurts us from winning the NC I’ll call it out because I love Penn St football more than who the coach is and I believe James Franklin is starting hurting Penn St football from winning the NC from where I sit and if he doesn’t get this QB situation fixed or at least try and fix it his ass needs to go. I need to see the rest of the season but imo it ain’t looking good. Beat Ohio St and I’m a very forgiving. We will see.
@southern-psu-fan There is big money being pumped into the PSU football program right now and if things keep going the way they are they’re going to have to make a change at the top. The big time donors are going to demand it.
@psujoe We have a stud football team except for the QB that starts. Can you tell me one game when we were playing an average or better team where DA was the better playing QB? The funeral director is right, DA is killing us and his play is keeping us from winning the NC. My man Ira that works with me told me this morning that he watched our game Saturday night and said y’all’s QB stinks and he cost y'all the game. I told him he’s cost us several games. 0-7 can’t be ignored or it will be 0-9 by the end of the season. Penn St could win the NC with either one of Ga Tech QB even the backup and GT doesn’t come close to getting the studs Penn St does.
Recognize we missed on DA and get on with another QB that’s gives us the best chance to beat the heavyweights. Why is this so dang hard to do man.
@southern-psu-fan At any point in the first 4 quarters did DA even attempt to make a pass similar to the one that got intercepted in the 2nd OT? If he did I don’t remember seeing it. You guys are right, he is killing us.

It’s clear Koltinicki has no confidence in the passing game. You could see it through the first three quarters, this short pass RPO is basically a crutch. Singleton was the second leading reciever. Allar doesn’t have the skill set to run RPO. Kotelnicki doesn’t trust Allar so you don’t see what you saw until the 4th when he had no choice because they’re down 2 scores.
I actually think we had them worn down at the end of that ballgame...We were beginning to establish a run game where we were churning out 3 to 4 yards per pop at will...I firmly believe that the only thing that could have stopped us from winning that ballgame was a turnover...And Allar didn't disappoint...He did what he always does...Chokes and throws a bad interception to lose the game...He does it in every big game...He wouldn't get another chance to do it again...He would be sitting if I was the coach...You can be the greatest coach in the world but at the end of the day all you can do is put your players in the best position to succeed...The players make the plays or don't...This kid folds under pressure every time...I don't know what more or how many more times he has to blow games like this until you accept what this kid is...He has all the physical tools but isn't a pressure player...He don't have it...
I've said it over & over, Southern. It's not in Jimmy's DNA. His ego won't let him do it!
How many times does it have to happen with different players until someone says maybe it's not the players... maybe it's the people whose job it is to prepare the players.
I understand your point Roam...In this particular instance it's not the coach it's the player...NO 3rd year starting senior 5* QB should be attempting that throw on the first play of what would be a game winning drive from their 25 yard line...I am not defending the OC here or absolving him from his part in it...It was a terrible play call...The bottom line is the players need to execute and make good decisions...The coaching staff can't play the game for the kids...It's their job to prepare them and put them in the best position to succeed...I would buy your argument IF this was the kids first time doing this...Unfortunately this is a recurring theme with this player and I find it hard to fathom that after 4 or 5 times doing this prior the coaching staff hasn't instructed him on this...I don't think that is the case...My belief is the kid just isn't a pressure ballplayer...Unfortunately you can't teach that...A kid either has it or he don't and Allar don't have it...Rather than rise to meet the challenge of big games and pressure plays he shrinks...There are players that way...It's sad but this kid will never win the big one for you...
Yes, it couldn't possibly be the coaching staff who continually QB's seem to regress under. Hack got worse, McSorley got worse, Clifford got worse until his 6th year, and now Allar gets worse.I understand your point Roam...In this particular instance it's not the coach it's the player...NO 3rd year starting senior 5* QB should be attempting that throw on the first play of what would be a game winning drive from their 25 yard line...I am not defending the OC here or absolving him from his part in it...It was a terrible play call...The bottom line is the players need to execute and make good decisions...The coaching staff can't play the game for the kids...It's their job to prepare them and put them in the best position to succeed...I would buy your argument IF this was the kids first time doing this...Unfortunately this is a recurring theme with this player and I find it hard to fathom that after 4 or 5 times doing this prior the coaching staff hasn't instructed him on this...I don't think that is the case...My belief is the kid just isn't a pressure ballplayer...Unfortunately you can't teach that...A kid either has it or he don't and Allar don't have it...Rather than rise to meet the challenge of big games and pressure plays he shrinks...There are players that way...It's sad but this kid will never win the big one for you...
But sure, this time it's the player.
First of all I believe they all played under different OC's and QB coaches...This kid actually reminds me of Hack in some ways...So it's the coaches fault this kid folds under pressure? It's the coaches fault he doesn't see open guys? It's the coaches fault he threw that interception into triple coverage Saturday night? Listen...I will say the same thing over and over again...At the end of the day it is up to the player to execute...This kid can't play under pressure...It is obvious...I can't understand how you don't see that...I promise you...it will be more of the same when they go out to play OSU...You think it's time to fire Franklin I am fine with that...I would fire everybody but Knowles and the defensive staff...But to absolve this kid from any wrongdoing is absurd...He don't have it...He never will...It is time to sit this kid...
Now that Clifford's name has been thrown into the discussion, can we all agree that no one throws a clean and pretty pick-6 like Clifford the Big Red Dog?
With regard to Allar, continuing to play might not be beneficial for him. He is probably unable to walk away and keep all the NIL money, but continuing to play comes with risk.
My god Franklin has the 2nd worst record against top teams in history, and somehow you think it's just this player? Second worst against top 6 teams IN HISTORY.First of all I believe they all played under different OC's and QB coaches...This kid actually reminds me of Hack in some ways...So it's the coaches fault this kid folds under pressure? It's the coaches fault he doesn't see open guys? It's the coaches fault he threw that interception into triple coverage Saturday night? But sure, it's the player. He is the reason Franklin cant win, apparently even before he got to PSU?
@roaminglion All I know is that Allar can’t throw the ball accurately further than 6 yards downfield, his pocket presence sucks, his footwork is terrible and he caves under pressure. Maybe it’s poor coaching, maybe he’s like Hack and thinks he’s goods gift to football or maybe he just lacks ability but all I know is at this point in time he sucks and does not deserve to be the starting QB at a major college football program. Who is accountable for his poor play if its not him and what has he showed in the last 1.5 seasons that makes you think he’s better than this??
Our non conference schedule has been rated by some services as the worst in the country and there is a high probability if we lose one more game we’re not going to make the playoff so I’m all for giving Grunk considerable playing time vs UCLA in a game we should win easily just to see what happens.
