  • @southern-psu-fan I’m not convinced we’ll be throwing the ball all over the field once Allar is gone. What have you seen to make you think Grunk is a better fit in this offense?

@jimmy-v "Dreams PSU football 365/24/7." To be correct that should be 24/7/52, 24 hours, 7 days a week. 52 weeks a year. 365 weeks would be about 7 years.

I have got to say that Homer named my first choice and Southern named my 2nd choice right now...Cignetti would be my 1st choice...I have no idea about his contract or whatever but he would be the guy I would be going after...The 2nd choice would be the guy from Georgia Tech...I am all but convinced that Franklin is gone at the end of this season...

@psugrad81  it looked to me that Franklin had fear on his face from the middle of the first quarter, players do not want to give their heart for a scared coach.

@cohappy Man, now i have to watch the game again to see what fear looks like. Probably a lot like Drew Allar's face when he is "pouting" on the sidelines. That pouting thing is from a comment on this site from a while ago.

@cohappy  James Franklin has done a lot of good things at Penn St and he’s built a beast of a team but not deciding on what kind of QB he needs  has killed the offense the last 3 years. I never understood recruiting DA because he’s not a good fit for our offense. There’s always coaches that they think they can make it work and it usually doesn’t.

No other QB in nine years has done anything other than lose every big game in the regular season and win a meaningless bowl game after missing the playoff.

@roaminglion we may have lost the games you say but it wasn’t because of bad QB play. I don’t believe it’s all on DA it’s on the coaching staff because we shouldn’t have recruited him in the first place and I told y’all that when we recruited him and the dudes let the QB walk with 2 years of eligibility walk that’s enough for me right there to make a change. I also told you Yurcich wasn’t the problem and I’m on record on here saying it. Can AK not see that DA was a bad fit for what we need? I just can’t believe what I’ve seen go down. If Paul Johnson was still coaching and DA told PJ he wanted to play for him PJ would tell him up front we might could use you at TE lol…all this shit is self inflicted by James Franklin and the other offensive coaches. DA could’ve made it big in the right offense he needed to be with a coach like Lincoln Riley.

"Just win baby" except when you are creating excuses for other QBs

Will Stein would be my second choice.

@roaminglion  We didn’t win. Ain’t no excels, I was calling for Hack to be benched too because he was stinking up the field and that was 2015. We lost to UCLA with a fired coaching staff Roam lol

Brent Key is younger and with Brent Key there’s a good chance we get the QB Philo to come with him and that will make my man Kularrow right, we get a QB from the portal. Brent Key will also make the OL better because that’s his baby. I hate to steal from the Jackets but Penn St always comes first…no exceptions!

What does Hack or UCLA have to do with this?

Simple fact is no matter who the QB was in the last 9 year, we don't win the big regular season games. Fact. It is what it is. You van wax poetic about how Grunk is the answer all you want but if Franklin is the coach we'd need practically a miracle to win.

Now since we already lost, and Ohio State isn't really a big game anymore... watch him win it lmao

@roaminglion  you said I say “just win”on your post and we lost to UCLA and Oregon but i agree about the losses. i honestly believe the last 3 or 4 years has been James Franklin best teams but recruiting the wrong style QB cost us some big wins. We wouldn’t have won all the big games but we would’ve won our fair share. You’re right about one thing, this is all on James Franklin. I’m a very forgiving guy beat Ohio St and Indiana run the table and it’s water under the bridge…just win.

@rip coaches have to coach but our stud players need to step up on both sides of the ball and make a play to help win a football game. I haven’t seen it this year and that’s on the players as much as the coaches. All that talent but no leadership.

Yep, you're right, Southern.  I'm having an old fart moment, who was it that said:  "It's not about the X's & O's, it's about the Jimmys and Joes"

I don't think our players will ever step up in big games under Franklin. I have always said I hate his "1-0" mentality as I think it breeds a choker attitude. Put all the emphasis on winning and kids, as well as coaches, will get tight.

The best cosches always say the same thing... they preach getting better and doing your best, not winning a game. Most of the best coaches never even seem to talk about winning with their players at all.

I think his 1-0 "mentality" is simply to focus the team on the game of the up coming week only. Don't worry about anything else. Don't think about it as the BIG game or an easy game, just this weeks game.
