If Franklin were honorable, he would leave.   He would say very little as he is leaving.  He has done some very good things for the program and has positioned the program to become elite.  However, he is unable to create the culture required for a team to be elite.  In the post-game press conference, Franklin said he takes responsibility.  Prove it James, walk away.  Don't take any money, just walk away.  Be an honorable man James.

Allar should start the next game, play a couple of series, and then depart with a season-ending high ankle sprain. He should be part of the team, but remain on the sideline as an advisor  / administrator.  He has outlived his usefulness and is not helping himself by playing.  He will go to the next level, but continuing to play at the collegiate level will not help him.

Kotelnicki --- the fact that the offense was completely unprepared to counter what Oregon said they were going to do is disconcerting.  Oregon said they were going to stop the run, and Kotelnicki proved them right.  Give Kotelnicki until the end of the season to prove his worth.

IMO it's not very "honorable" to hope or call for one of your own players to be injured. That is downright awful

Franklin should be gone it appeared he called the plays for the first 3 quarters,  East Stroudsburg plays do not work at this level.  Allar should sit to no excuse other than he cannot handle thhe pressure of a big game.  I do not blame Kotelnicki like I said we have seen the same play call, the first 3 quarters, for ever under every OC.  Did Kotelnicki suddenly become a genius in the fourth quarter?

I’d give Grunkmeyer some meaningful snaps and play both QB’s going forward and get this dude ready for next year. I said in another post that a change is needed if we don’t win a big game but I’m willing to give James Franklin another year just to see if DA was the problem all along which I believe he definitely is. Still a long season to go we don’t give up but we gotta try something fudging else at QB. Start Allar and if the offense still does the same shit bring in Grunkmeyer. Do it every game to let these other QB’s know you have to compete at Penn St and the best players play.

@roaminglion I am not hoping for Allar to get injured.  My point is that he might want a convenient excuse to opt-out of the rest of the season and save face.   Think of it as a reason to opt-out of the bowl game --- 3 months early.  Parsons opted-out of entire season.  Allar should consider doing the same.

9+ years of crapping the bed in big games and you think Allar is the problem? LMAO

It starts at the top...From the standpoint of Allar he shouldn't have even been playing...He has not improved one bit in 3 years...Does the same thing over and over again...It is the coaching staffs responsibility to identify this and sit the player...He shouldn't be in that position as it is clear he don't can't get it done...We have known what Allar is for the last year or so as he performs the same way in every big game...It's the coaching staffs responsibility to make sure he isn't on the field for those big games...Allar is what he is...A tremendously physically gifted QB who has trouble reading defenses, doesn't see the field well, is slow through his progressions and folds under pressure every time...So yeah...Allar is a problem just not THEEEE problem...Coaching is another problem...This is like the 3rd or 4th year in a row this team has had the best defense in the country and will not win a national title because of this inept QB and this delusional coaching staff...To say Allar don't have a hand in this is just as delusional and this coaching staff is for continuing to play this guy...He don't have it and how many times do you have to see the same thing until you figure out he is who he is showing you he is and not what you want him to be...Yes Allar is a problem but the bigger problem is this coaching staff continues to play this kid so that is what is on them...

@the-funeral-director What is the new QB gonna do that the last one didn't? At what point in 9 freaking years since 2016 has any QB won a big game?

We had 3 warmup games Jsmes Franklin should’ve let both QB’s play and we can see who’s better in game time. We do it with RB’s and it’s worked.

I will answer your question Roam...We already know what Allar is...Nobody can deny the physical talent but he can't handle pressure...EVERY big game ends the same way...We have the ball in a great spot and an opportunity to win the ballgame...Every time the same thing happens...He screws up and throws a bad interception...He isn't a pressure ballplayer...My gut tells me that this new kid will do a better job...I can tell you this much...If the same crap happens with this new kid then you fire the coaches...I said last year I wasn't a fan of this OC, the QB coach and the WR coach...I would have shitcanned them after last season...They chose to run it back...The lack of Allars development is on the coaching staff...His decision making is on him...He makes the same mistakes over and over again...I believe Allars biggest problem is his inability to read defenses, rapidly go through his progressions and to make the right decision on who to throw it to...I think that is why he throws a lot of balls behind the receivers because he is late...I know this much...Allar hasn't won any of these big games in 3 years...My instincts and history tells me he never will...I say play the kid Grunkenmeyer and take your chances...You are playing with house money at this point...

@roaminglion

Maybe the question should be "What is the new QB not gonna do that the last one did?"  Bench Allar & give Grunk a chance so we can find out.

We have been saying the same thing since McSorley... backup is better, my gut says he is better...

same result.

Franklin has only beaten 4 top 10 teams. Ever. Allar was the QB in 2 of those 4 wins.

I believe there’s a world where if Napier isn’t retained at Florida at the end of the season, you could see Franklin become a candidate for that position. He’s a big name, he won 9 games at Vandy in the SEC previously and he’s an experienced recruiter. I don’t believe that’s reach, to Franklins own admission he seems like he’s coming to terms with his ceiling at Penn State.

Best reasoning I have seen. At this point I don’t think it matters because Franklin is the constant

Yep Roam, and I don't think it's in Jimmy's DNA to bench Allar.  That would be too much like admitting he's wrong.

I don't think you are wrong either Roam about the coaching change...I am talking about this season...The coaches ain't gonna change and the only thing that they can change is the QB...It's a shot in the dark but we already know we ain't winning these big games with the current QB situation...

One last thing...At what point do you put the responsibility on the kid not to make these boneheaded throws? Allar isn't the answer...I don't know that Grunk is either but give him a shot...You got a national championship roster here that ain't gonna win with this QB...Give the kid a shot and see how it looks...UCLA is the perfect chance to see what he has...

Listen...That game last night was Penn States to win...They had it all lined up...right in front of them...Like the rest of these big games this kid choked like he always does...It's time for a change cause the truth is we have seen enough of these reruns of the same ole show...The ending is always going to be the same...Time for a new show...

Why is it always "we had it lined up to win" like there wasn't another team there with equal talent on the field? LMAO Oregon has more 5* recruits than we do and you talk like they shouldn't be on the same field as us. More time of possession, more yard, etc. Dominated us in every aspect of the game and we almost won...

but somehow you're acting like we dominated them.

Tell it like it is, we lost a big game. Again. No matter who the QB is, this happens.

What makes you think the way we played in the 4th quarter and in overtime that we couldn't score with 4 downs to get a first down? We finally were running the ball on them...they won the first 3 quarters...We won the last quarter and were wearing them down at the end...I am sorry but it was there for them to win the game...I think they shoulda won the game...I am gonna watch the tape tonight...I don't think they could have stopped us if we didn't turn the ball over...they couldn't stop us at the end of the game...I personally think we wore them down up front...

When did I say any of that? I said we lost. It was there for Oregon to win too... they did, we lost  They won 3 quarters and OT, we won 1 quarter. Being better in the 4th doesn't make us a better team... we still lost.

You say "they couldn't stop us" yet they did. We couldn't stop them in OT, because they scored both times. We did not.

@the-funeral-director I read in an article on NFL scouts attending the game and some of their evaluations of Allar.   One scout scout said "He looks like Tarzan, but plays like Jane"

I won’t be surprised if JF’s plan is to retire or walk away when his contract is up and it won’t come soon enough for me . We need a young energetic coach like Dan Lanning.
