WTF are you talking about?? FFS you say beating Utah was a big win and Allar cant win big games, now here you are saying Utah, BSU, and SMU are all on the same playung level? Well that effing means SMU and BSU were big games if they are equal using your own damn logic@roaminglion you see a difference in Utah, SMU and Boise and I don’t. These 3 teams are on the same playing level when we played ‘em. Utah was better than the other 2 imo they we PAC champs
You constantly change the %÷^ damn goalpost to suit your argument. Pick a damn lane
I could give 2 shits about a useless bowl game that nobody cares about...This season was and is about winning a national title...No excuses...They have the best all around team in the country...They are lacking at one position but the sad thing is it's the most important position...QB...He has costs them in every big game when the pressure is on...If they sit him they have a chance...Yes we are putting all of our eggs in an unknown unproven kid but at this point we know the guy that's there don't have it...To me it's worth the risk to see what this kid can do...
@roaminglion Utah was PAC champs SMU and Boise State are what they are neither team won a P5 conference championship and I did backtrack and say Utah is probably the better team. My argument is the same, DA stinks up the field and should’ve been benched 2 years ago and we let the wrong QB walk. I’ve been very consistent with this.
Exactly. We know Allar is a loser. He's proven he can't beat the big boys. Let's see what the Grunk can do
I say do a QB competition at UCLA. Let both QB’s play just like we do the RB’s and we’ll see.
Yet Allar has 2 of the 4 top 10 wins Franklin has at Penn State. Franklin is 4-15 against the top 10, again... Allar was the QB for 2 of them.Exactly. We know Allar is a loser. He's proven he can't beat the big boys. Let's see what the Grunk can do
Allar is not the problem, he is a symptom
In 2022 the Rose Bowl wasn’t a meaningless game. It was a hard fought game and we won. Both teams were trying to win. The way you guys look at it is if it ain’t the NC game it’s meaningless which is total BS.
I am curious Roam...Who were the top 10 teams Allar beat? I know it ain't Ohio State, Oregon or Notre Dame...
Bullshit. In the playoff era bowls are meaningless. Somehow you have convinced yourself that winning the rose bowl is bigger then winning a playoff game.In 2022 the Rose Bowl wasn’t a meaningless game. It was a hard fought game and we won. Both teams were trying to win. The way you guys look at it is if it ain’t the NC game it’s meaningless which is total BS.
@the-funeral-director or Michigan and ole Miss who finished 10th
@roaminglion 12 teams just started last year it was only 4 so it’s not BS
And? Who cares how many teams it is, a playoff game has something on the line. You lose you go home.@roaminglion 12 teams just started last year it was only 4 so it’s not BS
You're funny... You always said the Pac 12 was a weak conference that sucked, but now it's some big win in a meanless bowl
For the record and this is according to the ESPN article posted this morning...Allar is 0-6 against top 6 opponents...He beat a top 10 team in Boise State last year...Which in my opinion isn't a signature win...I have no idea who the other top 10 win Allar has but he can't win the big games...Same thing over and over...I say put the backup in...3 years of this is enough...It isn't going to change...Start with the QB and work your way up the chain...
Maybe Grunk is the answer, maybe he isn’t. NIL has the changed the game forever. Penn State 1000% better and should bring in a portal QB this offseason. Dante Moore and John Mateer both portal QBs, Gabriel was a portal QB. Will Howard was a portal QB, seeing a theme here? Klubnik and Allar were preseason Heisman hopefuls and system QBs, look how that’s turning out. Ole Miss just beat the brakes off LSU with a kid from Ferris State.
SMU waa also a top 10 team. So...For the record and this is according to the ESPN article posted this morning...Allar is 0-6 against top 6 opponents...He beat a top 10 team in Boise State last year...Which in my opinion isn't a signature win...I have no idea who the other top 10 win Allar has but he can't win the big games...Same thing over and over...I say put the backup in...3 years of this is enough...It isn't going to change...Start with the QB and work your way up the chain...
Or do they not count because the ACC isnt the SEC?
Simple fact is no matter who the QB is, Franklin doesn't win these games.
Now would be the time to find out if Grunk has any chance of being the GUY or if a portal QB is required.
@brownale I think it’s requires no matter what. Competition breeds depth. Lanning brought in Moore from UCLA who sat for a year under Gabriel. Even if you think Grunk could be the man, what if he gets hurt or regresses like Allar?
You’re talking about high school kids Franklin recruited, that methodology is all but pretty much dead.after nine years of quarterbacks under franklin, i don't see how another one in the portal is going to make a differenceNow would be the time to find out if Grunk has any chance of being the GUY or if a portal QB is required.
Let both QB’s play in game time this Saturday and see what happens. UCLA stinks so let it be a good practice game. If we can’t beat UCLA playing our 2 best QB’s we really have problems.
I am with ya on that Kularrow...Bring in some depth and use the portal...I am fully in favor of unloading the OC, QB coach and WR coach...It may be time to bring in another head coach as well...This act is getting old
The transfer portal is going away during the spring so teams will have to adjust to the new rules. Man DA ain’t even good against the shit teams, we all act like it’s just the heavyweights he struggles with. Smh
Allar has already shown what he can do against teams that "stinK" (see our first 3 games), and that's not much. I say start Grunk against UCLA and see what he can do. If he looks good, start him again vs Northwestern. If he lays an egg you can always go back to Allar.
I don't know, Brownale. Maybe it's that type of thinking that is creating some of our offenses problems. You know, going into a game with the idea that we need to "establish the run", "get Singleton involved", "spread the ball around", "get more explosive plays", etc, etc. Wouldn't it be better to feel out the D and try different things and find out what works best and stay with it until the D stops it instead of trying to force what we would like to see even if it isn't working. I don't know if I said it clearly, but you know what I mean, lol.
