My honest opinion. Franklin will pack up and burn rubber, leave Happy Valley.

Yeah, some of those reasons are a bit weird.

1. Racism? He's leaving Happy Valley for LA because.... he's black? What is that nonsense?
2. Lynn Swann hiring a Black coach? How is that a reason for Franklin to leave? Why does Franklin care about USC's diversity push?
3. Everyone wants to talk about USC as some dream job for coaches, yet I've never seen a big name coach want the job. Like... ever. Pete Carroll was their 5th choice, and every hire since has not been their first choice either. Yet people keep trying to tell us that coaches are falling over themselves for the job. LMAO
4. Give me rain and cold any day over LA. Sorry, some people like the country. In fact, about half of the people in the USA like the country more than cities. I've lived in several cities, and now live in the country... I'll take the countryside everyday and twice on Sundays. It's not 1970 anymore, living rural doesn't mean you are disconnected.
5. USC has 1 NC this century, not 2. They vacated 2004 for cheating. Also, Penn State has more wins and NC's since 1980 than USC. Sure, USC has "history" before 1980, I doubt anyone outside the fanbase gives a crap. I do not believe it's a better job, I believe it's considered more "sexy" because the majority of journalists live in cities and have no ability to think that other people may not like things as much as they do.

I will give the author credit for a few of them though. Franklin has definitely demonstrated a propensity to leave after several years. He hasn't stayed put anywhere... however that's not uncommon for assistants. Only job as HC he ever left is Vandy. Also, the PAC-12 South is much easier than the Big Ten East. He'd certainly be the big dog in that division. And yes, some uncertainty at the AD position could be concerning... however that didn't seem to be an issue when he was hired in the first place under an interm AD.

Basically,  the author compared Penn State as a "Tall midget" of the B10 and USC as "elite ". Seems lots of mud is being thrown around.  What gives the media more fuel is Franklin not answering the question,  yes or no. No straight answer given. Odd if you ask me .

Yeah, I get that. Coaches in general don't like to answer the question, because it puts them in a tough spot. Answer it, and you pigeon hole yourself for leverage, other offers, etc... Don't answer it, and you allow the speculation to run wild.

I honestly blame the media for this one, because they always like to write stories about the "non answer" and point to the times when coaches didn't give an answer and then bolted. However, the number of times a coach doesn't answer and stays far outpace any time a coach left, they just aren't fun to mention or write about. LOL.

If he leaves, I think we will be fine. Who knows... I know a lot of people wanted Moorhead to take over and perhaps he would come back. I think a lot of people would be dying to coach PSU next year looking at the roster TBH.

I’d like Franklin to stay. Article definitely hits some interesting points. But, if he wants to go, maybe that’s says he should.

I  do not know why any coach would go there with only being given a few years to prove themselves and if you do not get to there standards good bye

People giving any sort of credence to anything Davey Boy Jones has to say - his track record for piss poor journalism is worse then Rosey O'Donnell espousing conservative truths!

I don’t understand why people don’t like this guy bob. I don’t agree with everything he says and we’ve gone at each other a few times when he responds to something I post but it’s just his opinion vs mine. When I’ve been right he’s even come back and told me I was right. He’s a sports reporter and if somebody doesn’t want something out there they better not say nothing lol. Where am I going wrong because he’s always been nice to me even when he doesn’t agree with me. I’m sure something happened that I don’t know about?

I think people don't like him because he's unabashedly and Ohio State supporter, yet he says he isn't.

That and a lot of people don't like what he did to O'Brien, apparently conveying off the record talks and seemingly saying he knew of private conversations
