Ain’t either one of ‘em  ready for the NFL. McGovern got killed yesterday. I’ll be pulling for ‘em though

I hate to celebrate a guy losing is job, but I'm glad we will now be looking for a real WR coach. In a way, I feel bad for Corley because he came here expecting to be the RB coach and was moved to the WR spot in order to make room for Sieder.

McGovern would have been a big loss in years past, but I think we've filled in the depth at the OL spot well enough that one of the youngsters will fill in nicely. Miranda, Scruggs, Holmes, or even Thorpe (I beleive he is moving back to OG) will step up.

Roam, had we not had so many drops do you think the WR’s would look much better? I guess maybe you can say it’s his fault they dropped the balls. The WR’s were wide open and we just didn’t catch the ball. If they weren’t getting open I could see blaming the coaches but if they are open what else can you do.

If guys can focus and catch balls one year, then can't the next... That's coaching. Thompkins regressed, Johnson regressed, and ultimately others also had focus problems. One player, fine that's one player. But when you have practically the entire roster of Wideouts dropping balls you need to look at the leader of that unit.

In all seriousness, I don't see any reason to be upset for anyone leaving early. Based on what I saw this year, none of them are NFL ready. In regards to Miles, while a great recruit there was nothing there to get excited about based on this year's play. He doesn't have elite speed or moves, not knocking on the guy just saying...and it looks like the backfield has depth; of course that won't matter if the O'line doesn't get mean and physical.

Next man up... It's nice to have the depth now to say that. I think over the past two years we have started to get some very nice OL recruits.

Sanders is not NFL ready at this time. Great kid and lots of potential. He would benefit from an additional year.

Murray, do you think they’re ready for the NFL? I’m struggling to see it. I’ll be pulling for ‘em though

If a player is declaring early for the NFL, he'd better be consistently demonstrating what the average player at that position in the NFL is demonstrating on the field at a minimum. I think a lot of guys really look at what they think the first contract number is going be and it doesn't take much for a player to declare. Even if it's $500k-1 mill, that's more than most will ever make in the their lifetime working a job; get it up front baby and worry about it later.

It would be interesting if the data is available to look at the success rate of players declaring early and where they are 5 years later, financially and career wise regardless of job field.

I do know this, after the second round the success rate for finding consistent starters drops significantly.

Basically, if you are going to go in the third round or lower you have probably around a 20% chance of becoming a quality NFL starter. Second round and higher is usually above 50%
