I told Roam when the season started that it’s very possible for the big 10 champ to get left out again and I was right. The west is so weak with the east being brutal it’s going to be very hard for the big 10 to make the playoffs. When you play competitive games every week if very possible to have a bad game and get your butt handed to you and that’s what happened to Ohio st the last 2 years and us in 2016. I believe it will happen every year just like I predicted it would happen the last 2 years. Georgia got their butts handed to them to the last 2 years by LSU and auburn and they put them in last year and would’ve put them in this year had they beat Alabama. You can paint the picture the way you want to see it but I’m telling you now we may as well get use to not making the playoffs because it’s going to be very hard to go undefeated in the big 10 east. The west might go undefeated but they’ll get their butts kicked in the big 10 championship game just like they have the last 3 years. Michigan and penn st are still getting stronger and that means it’s really going to make it hard. Oklahoma and Clemson get bye weeks even if they play because the ACC and big 12 have so many garbage teams. Think about it we give Pittsburgh a complete beatdown 55-6 baby and Maryland beat the runner up big 12 champions Texas and done it 2 straight years. Just get use to not making the playoffs. This system stinks.
Why do you continue to say the Big 12 has garbage teams? WTF does that conference have to do to prove otherwise. In bowls they have beaten good SEC teams soundly, and have an above .500 bowl record.
Seriously dude, I swear if Oklahoma beats Alabama I think you'd say it is because Alabama played in the tough SEC and got beat up before you'd give any credit to the Big 12
You will see what Oklahoma will get in the playoffs this year. Beatdown is on the way for the Sooners. Don’t run and hide roam after the Tide puts a beating on ‘em. If they beat Alabama I’ll admit I’m wrong.
Didn’t Iowa best Iowa State, Maryland best Texas and Ohio st beat TCU? 3-0 the big 10 is over the weak 12 unless I missed another game? Just deal with it.
Duke beat Northwestern, does that make the ACC better than the Big Ten?
Is the Pac-12 better because the beat Nebraska?
Is the MAC better because they beat Purdue?
This ain’t about the ACC, MAC or the PAC it’s about the big 10 getting the shaft over the weak 12 when our teams have beat their teams 3 times this year. Maryland beat Texas, Ohio st beat TCU and Iowa best iowa st, these are head to head games from the 2 conferences trying to get the last spot for the playoffs. Head to head games being played is more accurate than somebody’s opinion. Ohio st and Georgia are the only 2 teams that have the players to take down the Tide...period and both teams got left out, it’s a scam Roam...just deal with it lol
Head to head games that did not involve Oklahoma. So what? Conference strength doesn't mean Ohio State is better than Oklahoma. Those are two teams, not conferences.
You want to talk about common opponents? Ohio State fought TCU and was losing until pulling away late. Won by 12. Oklahoma destroyed TCU by 25. Again, I don't care if Texas lost to Maryland. Oklahoma didn't play Maryland. Oklahoma is not the Big 12 conference. Just like if Alabama played in the PAC-12, it wouldn't make them a worse team. They would still be Alabama.
BTW, Kansas destroyed Rutgers so the Big Ten was 3-1 vs. the Big 12. You don't get to pick and choose what games to count.
Lastly... Just so you know, since 1998 the Big 12 has a winning record vs. the Big Ten and ACC. So your assertion that they are "garbage" is pure nonsense.
Stinking Rutgers, you can’t depend on that bunch for nothing. 3 years now penn st, Ohio st and Michigan have got blown out and more than likely it’ll happen again next year. When you play competitive games every week and you have a bad game on the road you’ll probably take it on the chin just like all 3 teams did this year and the last 3 years. It’ll probably happen again next year and the big 10 will get left out again. We may as well just deal with it and settle for bowls outside the top 4 because with Michigan and penn st still getting better it’s only going to get harder and that’s just the facts.
Hey Southern, was reading your chat over at Penn Live on this same subject, and somebody there had a cool idea - redividing the divisions within the Big10 to create better balance and possibly make it easier to get a team into the CFP. I think everyone on this forum agrees, the East Division is just a monster - with 3 powerhouse teams, it will be virtually impossible to get a undefeated Big10 Team.
This other persons idea was to scrap the geographical division, and switch to a mascot division. Animal Teams on one side - and the silly other things on the other.
So the Animals Division would be:
Penn State Nittany Lions
Michigan Wolverines
Wisconsin Badgers
Minnesota Gophers
Iowa Hawkeyes
Maryland Terrapins
Northwestern Wildcats
The Silly Others would be:
Ohio State Buckeyes
Michigan State Spartans
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Purdue Boilermakers
Indiana Hoosiers
Illinois Fighting Illini
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Would take a collective effort from all the AD's to push out or force early retirement of Dirtbag Delaney to get this done, but it seems intriguing. Also switching back to 8 conference games to stay consistent with the other conferences.
I like it bob. If the big 10 ain’t going to get a fair shake then something needs to be done. Did Oklahoma get punished for going into overtime with army? No but Ohio st get punished for a close game with Indiana lol. It’s a joke.
just swap Michigan State and Purdue in the divisions would be fine
At this point Roam Purdue might be better than Michigan St lol
