Southern, I can't for the life of me see why Wisconsin should be in this game! If Penn State has ANY running game AT ALL, they should be able to move this ball down the field all afternoon. Wisconsin's two best defensive players against the run graduated. I believe they are returning a pretty good secondary. Their offense is NO WAY as talented as Penn State. This may very well come down to the end, but again, I just don't see why this should happen....unless Pry allows another season of 40 plus missed tackles!
Here is my prediction. Penn State drives down the field, scores on their very first possession and game over the rest of the day.

I am telling you, this is going to be an explosive offense. I am putting my full trust in Yurcich to have them and Clifford ready for Saturday. And I am hoping Pry FINALLY puts a defense together that terrorizes, disrupts and knocks some people around! This stuff of giving up 30 points a game comes to an end NOW!

I think you're right on all points. My biggest concern is Pry's defense. Hope he doesn't continue to overdo it with the blitz calls. By now, everybody's expecting it so start the year off right by crossing them up!
My expectations for the defense are this: The secondary will be very, very good. Lots of talent and experience there, and deep. The linebackers will be MUCH better than last year. Smith was thrust into the Will LB role last year, and he is not suited to it. He is more of a heat seeking missile, take your head off type guy. Jacobs, from all accounts, is more athletic and better in coverage, and will take over that spot... Leaving Smith to concentrate mort and blowing people up. I can imagine Brooks will be better too after last year and some more experience.
As for the front, this is where my concern lies. Ebiteke should be good on one side, but the other is a complete question mark. Also, the middle? No idea. If anything, we need to sure up the run stopping. If the middle guys can play well and stuff the run consistently, I think everything falls into place. However, that is a big if... especially with smash mouth Wisky first up. If we can't stop the run, it means we have to commit more to the box. Which means more stress on the LBs and CBs.
@roaminglion it would’ve been nice if Antonio Shelton would’ve stayed we would be set inside. Hope we’ll have a stud to step up.
I'm afraid of Wisky at the start of the season. What they have to do to win is basic Wisconsin. There are more moving pieces in our Offense. I'd feel better if we played them in game 3. Not our typical tune up. I'm afraid it will be stressful but we should win.

I think that Buckeye game deserves some attention. Thursday night? On the road ? A new QB? Fairly talented Minny D? Hmmmm. Just saying!

No reason to be afraid but at this point in the season I wouldn't put my hard earned money...maybe I should just say the governments money that they are kind enough to let me keep on PSU even if you gave me 5 pts.
