Couldn't resist with the chatter that JF is on the want list. IMO, USC is the TX of the West coast at the moment; incredible home grown talent but .....
Who do see as the next USC coach?
I was just talking to a buddy about that. You know the Franklin rumors will bubble up, especially if he has 10 wins or more. How bout Bob Stoops, he's only 61. Mario Cristobal? It won't be FSU's Mike Norvell.
I could see Christobal, Fleck or Fickel; just for kicks. I'm going with Fleck or some one out of the pro ranks just for kicks.

Luke Fickel.

Right! He’s a good coach and ripe for the taking.

Just out of love and respect that I had for my high school coach the great Weyman Sellers is why I spell Dawgs the way Georgia fans want it, but that’s all the love I got in me Mtnittany lol. USC can take a hike, I have no love for them, James Franklin ain’t going anywhere baby 😂
All of the experts continue to talk about USC and why it's such a great job, but honestly I don't get it.. I really don't get why any coach would actually WANT that job.
Crappy expensive city, hyper critical press, unstable front office, etc.
Just confirmed by my Pitt fan coworker, JF is taking over for NoNads at 5b.
Let's face it James Franklin would be the perfect coach for USC. He'd most likely have the top recruiting class in the nation annually or at least top 5 , he'd be playing in a much easier conference and would be an annual playoff contender. Also his enthusiasm would immediately re-energize the fan base.
I just heard an interesting conversation on the radio that stated that Urban Meyer is their number one candidate right now but if that doesn't happen USC will throw piles of cash at James Franklin. I'm not ruling out the possibility that this is his last season at PSU.

LMAO, Urban Meyer bolts Jacksonville after half a year to take a pay cut for what would be the most stressful job in college sports.
Luke Fickel.
Prog
You're right, probably a top candidate. Successful and Southern Cal's AD is from Cincinnati, I believe he is the guy who hired Fickel there too.
@roaminglion yup because it's not like him to do anything like that lol. It would definitely make more sense for Franklin to go and any PSU fan thinking there no chance he leaves is in denial.
Doubtful that USC is the most stressful job in college sports.

Winning at CFU and Cincinnati is easier than Nebraska, Ohio St and USC just ask Scott Frost. Luke Fickell stepped in at a bad time but the bottom line is he had the best players in the big 10 and still lost 7 games. Coaching big dawg college football ain’t as easy as it looks.
I wouldn't be surprised. Urbs might bail before the ax falls. It's not like his team is taking the NFL by storm. Also, I think he's realized that coaching pros is a lot different that coaching kids that want to be pros.

So give me an example of when Urban Meyer took a million, 2 million, or 3 million dollar paycut to take another job? Or when he left a job after less than a season. Yeah, I'll wait.

It's been 1 game. LMAO... anything's possible.
@psujoe Alabama and auburn are the 2 most stressful jobs in all of sports especially Alabama
Nah, Saban ain't stressing out at Alabama. Any more than he puts on himself. He's a god on that campus, it would take multiple 3 win seasons to kick him out.
The job literally drove a coach to drink. Lane Kiffin got ran out on a rail, and the HC who was just fired endured years of a hot seat due to the constant pressures.
Add to it the LA press, crappy city, high taxes, national spotlight, etc. etc. etc. Probably should have said one of the most stressful jobs, not the most stressful.

LMAO....You'd think someone that thinks he knows everything would know it's not always about money. There are rumblings that he's already losing control and things could deteriorate rapidly in J'ville and if it does Urbs could be looking for an easy out. Things could turn around and maybe they'll even make the playoffs but as of now it appears as though it may get ugly.
"Urban Meyer, Jacksonville Jaguars coach: Meyer is leading an NFL team with the No. 1 overall pick in Trevor Lawrence. So, why would he leave after one season? Well, simply put, the NFL is not for everyone. CBS Sports insider Jason LaCanfora reported Monday that there are already problems within the Jaguars organization: "The inability to adjust to the pro game. ... Belittling coaches. Treating every setback as if it's the end of the world. Morale was so low going into that [Week 1] game, and there has not been cohesion among that staff, particularly between the college guys and the pro guys.Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban both spent just two seasons in the NFL with Saban eyeing his exit to Alabama before his second year was even complete. It's not out of the realm of possibility for Meyer to pull the ripcord given his departure history at Florida and Ohio State. USC would be more than a comfortable landing spot for Meyer if he decides his NFL experiment is not worth continuing."

@roaminglion you’re right about Saban but Mike Debose, Ray Perkins, Gene Stalling, Bill Curry, Mike Shula and a few more were very stressed out and some of ‘em had bricks thrown through their windows at home and these were good coaches that won the SEC and Gene Stalling won a NC. Slick Nick and the Bear probably weren’t but the rest of that bunch was. I remember when Alabama lost to Florida when Gene Stalling took over the team didn’t want to even play at home because of the stress the fans put on ‘em they wanted to play on the road. The Alabama job for most of their coaches is a very stressful job bunch of dang nuts out there.

There is a first time for everything.
I read where Eric Bieniemy from the chiefs is also on the short list.
I guess I'm in denial cause I don't think JF leaves for USC either.

Should be rather obvious why Saban isn't stressed.
