James was complimentary about Penn State, the team and staff. This was not surprising. What was surprising (at least as a public comment) was a statement made by the VT president that James is working on bringing "someone from Penn State" to serve as his "chief of staff". It got me wondering who that could be. I suspect probably not someone on the coaching staff itself but rather an administrative person who has been "behind the scenes" at Penn State....

Penn State General Manager Andy Frank and Chief of Staff Kevin Threlkel are the two confirmed Penn State staffers leaving to follow James Franklin to Virginia Tech. Several other Penn State staffers are reportedly leaving, but specific names beyond Frank and Threlkel have not been confirmed.
That's good. Man came in and did a lot for PSU, now it's his turn to turn another program in the right direction. He will be there 5 years or 20 years, no in between.
Regionally when VA Tech is better it makes things better, same goes for WVa.
