Okay what say you if JF announces on Tuesday that he has signed a new contract extension to the tune of $7.5M/year for 5 years?

It's a business. Anyone that follows college footballs knows that when job opening happen and people are named there are 3 things that can be involved.
1. They are not interested they say so from the jump
2. They are interested and being courted by the school about the job
3. They are using the situation for leverage to get more money to stay where they are at. That money could be for them or for them and their assistants or for them and their assistants plusy facilities upgrades for the program.
Same chit different year.
I'd say fire the AD immediately! But I'd also say it's likely that USC has an agreement in place with Fickell that will be announced later in the season and are no longer interested in JF.

whatever was going on fudged up this season that’s all I got to say. My son just told me something is up Tuesday from James Franklin
I really think USC chose Fickell but it won't be announced till after bowl season which is why Franklin can now say "I'm not going anywhere".

As Joe posted the other day, Franklin said something about not going anywhere at a dinner earlier in the week. During the post game today he was asked about that comment. He said he said that because he thought something was going to happen quicker. He said he wanted to talk about Rutgers today and would discuss his comment form the dinner on tuesday.
@navylion So that kinda proves what Southern has been saying, JF has been distracted. I'm not expecting anything to come out of his mouth on Tuesday that clears any of this up.

Y’all seeing this Oregon score? 21-0 Utah. On espn they said Cincinnati schedule ranks 103rd in the country. If Oregon losses they will probably get in. UTSA is also undefeated they start trying to get them in next.
28-0 Utah lol

UTSA has nothing and nobody on their schedule to justify it. Cincinnati will have beat what will be a 11-1 Notre Dame at season's end, and they probably will be ranked 5 or 6.

You told me you rarely ever watch ESPiN. I guess this was one of those instances?

I believe he meant highlight and analyst shows. Not games
I don't think JF was ever going to USC, if the (Tuesday) announcement isn't "I'm going". I think his name gets floated and that is then used for leverage at PSU.
On the other hand I could very well see him going to FL. Aside from Urban's run and a few years with Spurrier; FL has basically been a nonfactor in the college football world. They want to get there, and JF could be the man through his recruiting that gets them there, but IMO there is an issue with the rank and file below him that he drives.
It has been my experience that generally you can see the problem (if there are any) with leaders either in the first year or definitely by the third year as puzzle starts to fill out.
All these guys get paid too much but that’s the new normal in revenue producing sports. I think stability is very important. PSU should structure any new contact with Franklin that if he was offered another job, the buyout would be cost prohibitive.
I’m hoping Coach James Franklin remains a Nittany Lion.
@southern-psu-fan I think if it is a new contract is in order I think the buyouts should be reversed, 24 mil if he takes another job and 4 mil if fired.
Okay guys, Mullen is out at FL; what are the odds JF goes south?
@psu61 I’m thinking he stays put now 61
I think FL is as good as it gets for JF in the SEC.
@psu61 I’m thinking he stays put now 61
Agree Southern. Franklin isn’t going anywhere…period. Honestly why would he? For as much criticism as he gets (often deserved), his seat is ice cold. Why jump into the fire of the never ending coaching carousel where his seat will be lukewarm from day one. He’s making an obscene salary right now at PSU which will soon be increased and a great recruiting class (if it holds together) coming in. Tuesday he’ll announce he’s staying with a new contract to add to the obscene amount he already makes. I just hopes it’s not all self serving and the assistant coaches get an increase with an upgrade in the facilities.
I'd be pissed if we gave him a new, increased contract. For what? Let him go if he wants to play games
I feel the same way. He's gonna keep playing this game every year. We need a coach who has his head and his heart with our team.
probably nothing more than everyone already knows here.
