Has passed away at age 72. What an ambassador to PSU football. One of few that sttod up for JVP.
He never stopped loving Penn State and Joe Paterno. After one bowl game he some how or other ended up on the same bus I was on going back to the hotel. I didn't bother him at all, it was just an honor to stand close to him.
I also remember watching him as a Steeler. When he couldn't run out of bounds (smart man) and he would get tackled, he would get up and limp back to the huddle looking like he couldn't possibly stay in the game. Then they would hand him the back and he would take off like a demon.
Can you even imagine Franco opting out of anything? He stood his ground and was a prime example of the quality men who benefited from JoePa's "Grans Experiment"!
I would cry with you, but he made cry once before when he beat my Raiders!! That aside, yes, they just don't make them like Franco any more. Talk about a true Penn State alum, he was about as good as it gets! Sad moment, but what great memories we have and he gave!
@mtnittanylion That’s easy to fix mtnittany. I always pull for Penn St players in the NFL regardless if it beats my Falcons. I pull for Atlanta 100% of the time unless it’s a Penn St player that’s makes a play during the game and if it beat Atlanta , it is what it is baby..Penn State always comes first 😂
I took a class in "Salesmanship" taught by Mickey Bernstein who owned the local AM radio station there. In class with me were Franco Harris, Randy Crowder and a few other on that great 1972 team. Franco was always friendly and he gave a great presentaion on a Velvet Stretcher which to this day I have no idea what that was. Lydell MItchell was the feature back and All American while Franco was his blocker. Interestingly, the Steelers chose Franco in the first round with Lydell to the Colts in the second round. Both had great careers but it was Franco the perenial All Pro player and NFL Hall of Fame-er. After his playing career Franco invested in more than one food company. I would see him at trade shows and of course everyone wanted their picture taken with him, he gladly obliged without the slightest of grumbling. RIP Franco. Your are the class act that embodied PSU and the Steelers.
@been-there-ii The greatest of all time Joe Paterno baby! He looks good don’t he 😂
I have been somewhat of a Tampa Bay fan (as my second), mostly because of Godwin and I like the old man at QB - keeps me wanting to be healthy at my "kind of older age"! But with McSorely starting his Pro game against TB, how do you not cheer this dude on! Goes to show you what being patient is all about. From a the practice squad to squaring off with Brady??? That in its itself is a great scrap book piece even if it is the only game he ever starts!
GO STATE!!
@mtnittanylion unless it’s Atlanta or the Super Bowl I don’t make an effort to watch the NFL but I will do my best to watch that game knowing McSorely is starting. Dude has played in the NFL for 4 years I’m proud of him. One more year and he get retirement from the NFL, right? Hope he gets it
That's great to see. Look forward to watching Trace. I think you're pension vested after 3 years. I hope he does well in his starting opportunity and sticks around for several more years.
@rip You got it Bob. ....However, all players who have played in at least 3 seasons in the NFL irrespective of the date are entitled to an NFL pension....
Yesterday at a mall I saw an excellent condition signed and authenticated Franco Harris Steelers jersey for $360. Being a PSU and Steeler fan it was very tempting.

Lmao, and only a fool like yourself would buy it only to be found out later that you were ripped off.
Yeah, it's authenticated. Tell me another one. Let me know when you buy it so I can buy a similar one on ebay for 10 dollars and copy the authentication. I would never waste money on this type of stuff.

God rest his soul . 🙏 may he rest in piece..
What I don't like is how people start making money on a deceased person for personal gain. I guess the market is now flooded with memorabilia, double, triple in price. People will do anything for a quick turnaround.

Yet in his post he said he did not buy it. SMH

Yeah, ok genius. Go kiss his arse. Im sure he is willing to bend over for you. Next week he'll be telling you that you like changing narrative like he has in the past. You like sticking your nose in things.
