5 years ago today James Franklin inherited the biggest news of a p5 team as anyone has in history. Players left, sanctions crippled, fans were absolutely brutal and asinine with higher than should be expectations yet somehow, screaming that a former player should have been hired. James Franklin, a newbie to head coaching at vandy, a name NOBODY threw out, carried the Nittany Lions to 5 consecutive winning seasons, three straight top 25 rankings, a Big Ten title and nearly another. We will finally get to see what a full James Franklin recruited team looks like in the fall. It is absolutely beyond ridiculous that we’ve actually heard the words “fire Franklin”. All the amazing things that logically shouldn’t have happened yet excitingly did, yet the fan base judges him for basically three or for plays they they didn’t like, even though 90% of this fans have no clue why those decisions happened. I say this will go down as one of the greatest hires in PSU athletics history. WE ARE. GLAD HES HERE!

Well said Bill...i was pushing hard for PSU to hire him 5 years ago . He was the guy I wanted and am glad they got him... He needs to learn how to hang on and put away OSU and MSU in these close games moving forward .

Im not ready to get out the anointing oil just yet. 2019 is supposed to be his year so lets see how that plays out first before we start with the anointing and coronations. He may well turn out to be one of the greatest hires ever; I sure hope so but im not seeing it yet. In fact, I would argue that Cael Sanderson is the greatest hire to date. It's gonna be awfulloy tough to top we he's achieved.
