See Link. First of several deep dives we plan to do on his time at Buffalo and Kansas. Lots to unpack. Too much for one video. So this is just the first course. No jinx, but there's a decent amount of overlap in the Kansas Kotelnicki/Okie State Yurcich venn diagram. We do think he has more range as a playcaller, though, than Yurcich did -- more high-percentage mad scientist to him, if that makes any sense. The Codutti Texas Tech defensive assistant anecdote about Kotelnicki was interesting/exciting/promising (he's got two 2025 kids on his team with TT offers).

In his career as an FBS offensive coordinator, Yurcich's offenses have averaged 6.49 yards per play, which ranks first among OC's since 2013 and 14.03 yards per completion, which is first among Power Five OC's in that timeframe. Since 2013, Yurcich's offenses have scored 50 or more points 26 times and 40 or more points 51 times (50 percent of games coached), both of which are tops among FBS offensive coordinators since 2013. His teams average 61.5 touchdowns per year.

Sometimes its a matter of a square hole round peg when it comes to the coach's personality and the team he is coaching for. Bottom line, PSU didn't do much against equal or better teams. Could be that there was no chemistry between MY and JF and players? If we see more of the same ol same ol, then it shouldn't be too hard to ID the common denominator and accept the fact. I'm hoping AK is successful. I'd say if he is, he's gone in 2 years. If they pull off a championship next year, I'd say he jumps to the NFL with his OC record.

And Jimmy fired the man.  I think Jimmy should have looked in the mirror instead!

The top generally clears out the bottom until they get who they want. If who the top gets doesn't work out, then I'd say you get a new top.

This is literally what I've been saying all year, Yurcich was not the problem. I've seen his offenses at other schools, and his playcalling here was vastly different than at Ohio State, Texas, and Oklahoma State. It looked similar at each of those places, but not here... I wonder why.
