Women's Volleyball was a bit of a surprise.  Wrestling is almost a given.  The third is a stretch.

I watched the the last three sets of the WVB Nebraska game....that was incredible! Down 2 and then 3 straight wins.  They should have swept Louisville in 3 straight today.  Joe Jurevicius daughter is pretty good.  Great to see him in the crowd and his daughter excelling as an athlete at PSU! Maybe Arrington II will be next !!

I don't think the third is THAT much of a stretch.  If they are EVER going to win a National Championship, I can't think of better opportunity than what the have this year.  As I have said all along - and so have others - there just isn't a dominant team out there this year.  We know we can hang with Oregon and Ohio State and I really don't think Texas or GA is as good as either of these two.  Penn State needs the defense that played against SMU and the offense that played against Oregon to show up on the same day....that's it! LOL

I think it all comes down to Allar the rest of the way.  I saw a stat that said he is the #1 QB under pressure....no turnovers.  But they said that is not a good thing.  He is either getting sacked or throwing the ball away (most of the time) which means he is not taking ANY chances and that is not always a good thing.  It was a little over my head, but they said in big games, he is going to have to be more aggressive to keep drives going.  I know he was a little hesitant against SMU, I am sure the weather had a lot to do with it, but there were several times he had guys open for a split second and he just didn't take the shot. But then again, I think he has improved a lot from the first game until today.  In fact, I think the Oregon game was a turning point for him.  I really expect to see Allar play a great game against Boise!

GO STATE!!!!

They can do it if they play, as Jimmy likes to say, complimentary football the rest of the way.  Offense has to pick it up and play to the level the D was at against SMU!

@rip exactly! James Franklin is doing everything possible to get the offense going. I know the stats look good against mediocre teams but the offense needs to click against the heavyweights if we want to win the NC. If we can get the offense clicking it’s ours to go win. Saturday was a great start.

Don't count out some of our other teams too, men's Volleyball was #4 last year! Lacrosse teams are both good too!

That WVB comeback against Nebraska was impressive.  Reverse sweep...still paying them back for 94 🙂

We kind of folded in the second set against Louisville, I think we were up 24-20 and lost.

#9 Murzik (spelling) is impressive, she doesn't look imposing, maybe undersized for a hitter, but she seems to have unusual court awareness.  When she has blockers on her it is like she knows when to split them, go high off the fingers, sharp angle etc.  If you watch her alone you see the team largely revolves around her, yes she has the numbers but she is totally involved.

Congrats to them and the coach fighting cancer.  I think they said she was the first D1 Female coach to win a NC.  They definitely peaked at the right time.

Maybe we can make the top 10 of the Directors Cup again.  https://nacda.com/sports/2018/7/17/directorscup-nacda-directorscup-current-scoring-html.aspx

You know, we all want more! But this has been a very good season for Penn State.  Close loses to the best two teams in the country, made the BIG10 Championship game, hosted the first round of the playoffs, now heading to the Fiesta Bowl for round 2 - and favored - with a solid chance to go to the Orange Bowl next.

Have a great Holiday all!  We know we have at least one more game to watch!
