Lost out on another one, darn
He probably watched yesterday's game and saw what the weather was like in Happy Valley. Can't say I blame him, lol!
It’s probably about the 💰 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰
We need to convince Kobe King,Dennis-Sutton and Zane Durant to come back
@southern-psu-fan I was just thinking, the real Pros have a salary cap? This NIL deal has none....is Oregon the Yankees?
If they are the Yanks then Ohio State is the Dodgers. Both spend ridiculous money@southern-psu-fan I was just thinking, the real Pros have a salary cap? This NIL deal has none....is Oregon the Yankees?
Doubt it, IMO legally you can't limit what players make from advertising or endorsements. At least not without Congress passing a law@roaminglion is I possible to get a salary cap?
We are #7 in NIL money and reports were that we are going to go after players in the portal more aggressively.
The comical part is that this NIL money is not really advertising or endorsements per se. I kind of understand the initial driving law but the interpretation seems to have gone awry.
Why should their be a salary cap? These schools can afford a hundred million dollars to pay a coach, a billion dollars to upgrade fields and facilities they can certainly afford to pay their players...I find it quite ironic that the conference that was notorious for paying players under the table and at the end didn't even try to hide it are using this as an excuse for their league being exposed for frauds...It was an open secret that Saban gave all of his players a Dodge Charger for signing...The issue the SEC fans is the fact that they don't have the advantage anymore because now paying players is out in the open and EVERYBODY can do it now...These SEC folks are going to be throwing around every excuse in the book to try to justify why their conference is the best even though they were embarrassed and will be humiliated before this playoff is over...I am going to be laughing my ass as these talking heads and SEC shills are losing their minds...
@psujoe I went to same high school as him. He had a great year at La Tech Hearing from people here he really likes the south and Miamis d Line coach.
@roaminglion thanks Roam. it’s a wonder how the ncaa gotta way with it for all these years roam. Smh
The schools don't really pay the coaches... most of their salary comes from sponsors, boosters, radio/TV contracts, etc. Almost none of it comes from the actual University. Why should their be a salary cap? Interesting...So who are they contracted with when they sign these huge extensions and who is on the hook for the money?
Usually boosters. The academic arm of Penn State has never paid a dime for a gootball coach. Or any other coach. Completely self funded.Interesting...So who are they contracted with when they sign these huge extensions and who is on the hook for the money?
So who actually hires these coaches then? The boosters that pay him or the university?
The university hires them, the booster negotiations are part of the AD's job. As are TV/Radio and endorsement deals. It's why places like Texas and USC had some turmoil in their coaching searches, because when the boosters get unhappy that's a big deal if they are shelling out ridiculous money. So who actually hires these coaches then? The boosters that pay him or the university?
Usually the school pays someone like Nick Saban a base salary of $500,000 and a much larger amount comes in exchange for duties that satisfy the university's media, sponsorship, and apparel contracts. In essence, it's the coach's NIL deal. The college and sponsors are granted the ability to use the coaches name, image, and likeness. Also, the coaches are required to participate in radio/tv responsibilities and other things the university might deem appropriate. The rest comes from donors/boosters.
That's fascinating...Man how things have changed since my day...The money that is flying around is insane to me...LOL
