Hard to believe we don't have a back better than Hansen at breaking big runs. We just don't know who it is yet. Overall he may be the best back. #2 and #3 have been getting a chance...
Looks like fast Jerry the retard is hiding in shame over his beloved loseRU scarlet knights getting “ran on a rail” again.
@psujoe Hansen is a good RB but I don’t believe he’s a #1 RB in the big 10
Y'all are so enamored with big runs you forgot what an bruser RB looks like.
He's not our home run hitter, he just gets yards
@roaminglion 3 or 4 yards against Marshall and Temple means 1 or 2 yards against Michigan and Ohio State and the rest of the heavyweights. Hansen is a good back for certain plays and time on the field he’s just not a #1 RB on a team like Penn St.
Hanson is a very effective back...He does what every great back does...He falls forward...Just like Allen did...Everybody is always enamored by the quick hitter in the backfield but you need a guy to get you those steady tough yards run after run...He is just adjusting to this OLine and they are beginning to gel as a unit and I believe you will see him just get better as he and the OLine establish their timing...I believe him and Peoples are very complimentary of each other...Leave it alone and let these guys get comfortable with each other...We could be doing much worse than those 2 guys in the backfield...
Reaching for someone worse because you desperately hope they are better isn't a great idea@roaminglion 3 or 4 yards against Marshall and Temple means 1 or 2 yards against Michigan and Ohio State and the rest of the heavyweights. Hansen is a good back for certain plays and time on the field he’s just not a #1 RB on a team like Penn St.
Right now Hansen is ranked the #21 back in the country...I don't know what you guys are looking for but this guy is a very solid and effective back...I only expect him to get better as the season rolls around and the OLine begins to gel...You have to remember in both of these games they played so far the defenses did everything to take the running game away...They have been stacking 9 in the box to stop the run...I don't give a good Goddamn who you are...You ain't running the ball against a 9 man stacked box...That is all there is to it...
@the-funeral-director I’m not saying he’s not a decent RB but he’s not on the same planet as KA or any other stud RB’s we’ve had. He’s on the same level as Lynch or Stephan Green a decent second string RB were weak at RB if Hansen is the best RB on the team. I’m pulling for him and I like the dudes game he’s tough as nails but he’s not a first team RB. I do believe we have one on the team and time will tell.
I do believe People’s or Martin will be the starting RB when they know the plays. Hansen is the starter because he can block and knows the plays but time will fix that. As long as we win I honestly don’t care who is the guy.
Hansen hasn’t faced the kind of defenses in our non con that he’ll see in the B1G and for a supposedly bruiser type of RB he’s really not that big.
Time will tell fella's...He won't be the first player I ever saw who was supposedly undersized and too slow to play running back or linebacker that ends up being a very good and effective player...We are all going to find out the answer very soon...All I am going to say is he has faced 9 men in the box in the first 2 ballgames...I will repeat what I said earlier...I don't give a good Goddamned who you are you ain't running the ball against 9 men in the box...With those kinds of defensive schemes you gotta run play action and get a TE up the seam with 10 to 15 yard crosses to make em pay...The middle of the field is gonna be wide open...In my humble opinion they didn't run enough play actions on 1st down in them 2 ballgames...I believe they were just trying to get some reps in running the football...
I saw Rocky Bleier speak once. He said there was a certain 40 speed you needed to run to get drafted and there was no way he could do it, never had. On that all important day he did it, either it was a 'Hail Mary' (he was a ND guy) or a quick finger on the stop watch. So he figured he wasn't a star back so he better learn to block and receive. He blocked for PSU Back Franco Harris. He joked about working for a PSU guy. There was a year where both Rocky and Franco had 1000 yards Second team to accomplish it I believe
What's my point? I forget.
He joked about how dumb Bradshaw was. 3 plays we had, he got his bell rung so bad once he didn't know where he was....I called the play.
@the-funeral-director Hansen is definitely a good back but to me he just doesn’t look like a back that is going to carry the load an entire Big Ten season without getting injured. I’m worried that his size and style of play aren’t going to hold up or be effective once we’re up against bigger, stronger and more physical defenses than we’ve seen so far.
@psujoe Hansen is definitely a good RB and he’s perfect for 3 yards and a cloud of dust and we’ll need that during some games but we need an every down RB that can break tackles and take it to the house if we want to win championships.
We gotta good football team they just needs more snaps together and it’s happening every game and practice. We played good today just need to clean up a few things. Defense is better than I expected and so is our QB I love that dudes play. #6 is a beast baby! 😁
As PSU fans wine about performance we see USC having trouble traveling to Rutgers...Troy leading Missouri, A&M lost, and Michigan looked ehhh
