I know it's very early to say this, but I think it needs to at least be addressed as something that will definitely be going through recruit's minds...

...but former athletes, specifically football players, are suing Ohio State for allowing a physician to knowingly abuse them for years. Also, these players said Ohio State "distanced" themselves from them when they spoke about it.

So... I just wonder if this will affect recruiting. I mean, if I'm Julian Fleming it's definitely entering into my decision. Yes, I know Penn State had it's own issues too but in one case the University was kinda vindicated and had it's name sullied while apparently the other has PROVABLE negligence on behalf of ITS OWN ATHLETES.

Let's also not forget that OSU gave their head coach a slap on the wrist last year when they found out he was protecting a drug using, philanderer coach who may have been beating his wife. Not exactly the University's finest hour.

I’m sorry but if I’m a college football player and a doctor touches me I’m going to knock the hell out of him. If you are a grown man and you let someone touch you that’s on you baby. What Sandusky was doing was to kids that were scared to death and what the scumbag at Michigan st did was to young women that are probably scared and ashamed to say anything so I get it and man I feel really just sick at my stomach thinking of what positions they were in. I just can’t believe this creep was touching that many grown young men and one of them didn’t take his ass down and beat the chit out of him. I don’t in any way condone what this creep did I’m just saying because I know I would’ve beat his ass had he touched me. Personally I’m glad he’s dead. It was college men athletes he was doing this too, right?

yes it was, and that kind of shows what type of atmosphere was at Ohio State. he was doing this to football athletes that could knock him out, and they were too scared to speak up... because why?

well, I believe their lawsuit does say why. they say that anyone who talked about it felt like Ohio state would then distance themselves from them. essentially, I think the athletes are alleging that they felt like their careers were in Jeopardy if they did anything about it

My wife just told me the same thing you said Roam and said I wouldn’t understand because of the way I was raised. I trust my wife so I’ll leave it at that. I didn’t mean to sound like I’m not sympathetic I just don’t get it like she said. She works with a lot of troubled kids at villa rica high and man does she see some bad things these young kids go through it will break your heart.just sick cowards that target kids.

A potential student athlete will decide where to go to college based upon the same reasons others have used for decades. PSU has proved that the elephant can be made invisible.

OSU and PSU situations are very different. An OSU doctor abused buckeye athletes and the school distanced themselves from it all. They are being sued by former athletes for treating them horribly. When a situation could directly affect you, it tends to hit home a bit harder.

I personally know someone who is an Spartan alum that steered their daughter away from MSU because of what happened there. She was an athlete and went to another school, so yes it did change her mind.

A scandal is a scandal, is a scandal. While in your mind you differentiated the 2 scandals, to many, PSU administrators looked the other way. Just like PSU, this issue at Ohio State will only be a blip in the screen.

Sky, a jury of the people said there was no cover up and that’s exactly why charges were dropped against the president of the school. The only difference I see between the 2 scumbags Sandusky and the doctor at Ohio st is Sandusky targeted kids that couldn’t protect themselves when the doctor targeted young men that could’ve beat his ass but chose not to and  IMO that’s a big dang difference. Nobody looked the other way...period!
