Penn State QB Drew Allar’s NFL future comes into focus after CFP win over Boise State
Article is on Pennlive. If DA does leave and it’s very possible that means we lost both QB’s. The article is worth reading.
Of course I believe DA is coming back but I’m beginning to think #17 Grunkemeyer is the real deal and James Franklin told Pribula he might have a tough time beating this kid out. Just a guess though
Allar didn’t even play that good last night and Boise’s secondary sucks. Some of his passes and decisions were terrible.
@psujoe i agree but #44, #6 and #5 need to help him out some, they didn’t catch the dang football when he did make 3 perfect passes and all 3 passes would’ve lead to TD’s.
I really don’t get all this Allar hate. He’s only a 2nd year starter and he’s 20 years old. What do you expect? Prime Tom Brady? If he had a NFL level receiver on this roster, you would see what he can do. It’s always what he hasn’t done on this board. What about the absolute dimes he threw in the first quarter which ended up being huge down the road in the game. The kid can ball and scouts are drooling over him. It’s laughable to think anyone thinks Pribula could make those type of passes. Franklin saw enough of Gronkemeyer in scout teams to know Pribula wasn’t the answer. Is Drew Kerry Collins? No but he doesn’t need to be. He made the throw to Trey Wallace when it mattered which set up the Singleton long TD to seal this thing. Just like the two 4th and longs to Fleming a couple games ago. Allar is a little raw sure, he’s never lost a game he was favored in, that’s more than Hack, Trace and Sean Clifford can say. You’ll miss this kid when he’s gone, I promise that.
@kularrow It’s not hate. It’s wondering why all the hype for a kid that was supposed to be a 5star QB and close to the end of his 3rd season still hasn’t shown it. He was outplayed by a sophomore first year starter G5 former 3star last night.
A lot of the throws were perfect into tight coverage and uncaught. So if there was a negative for DA yesterday it would have to be picking the wrong receiver. But for the most part the physical throws were good.
The talking heads have to talk. Drew said he is coming back right? So I suppose if he wins the NC he might change his mind but he said...
ESPN game day guys were taling to JF and then said we had the most corporate CEO's and we were all in in NIL and we were with the big boys. I think he said OR, OSU, PSU. Don't remember if there is a 4th but interestingly he didn't limit the big boys to the B10...they were just all B10. Then they talked about the $ spent on the stadium. The other guy ends with I hope they do something with the outside...it looks like an erector set.
Yea, OK. Spend the $ where you get the most bang. Black shoes, no names.... If we have the most CEO's maybe we also have the most CFO's and they understand ROI.
@psujoe The G5 QB that threw 3 picks? You nailed that one. Hasn’t shown up? 53 TDs and 9 picks. Who has shown up then? Please humor me. List one PSU QB since 1995 who has “shown up”. I’ll wait.
DA is not ready for the NFL, I did not say he can't play in the NFL, but he is not ready and IMO, lol, one more year of starting and playing Big10 schedule next year will do him good, one way or the other. He had several down field passes basically dropped last night but damn, that's the first game I think I've seen him throw downfield of any substance. On the other hand, if the argument is that he would benefit from NFL coaching b/c PS doesn't have that caliber of QB coaching, then it may be in his best interest to bug out, but and a big but, it would depend on where he lands if the move is beneficial.
totally agree with you KularrowI really don’t get all this Allar hate. He’s only a 2nd year starter and he’s 20 years old. What do you expect? Prime Tom Brady? These last 2 games are huge wins imo because it’s playoff games but both teams are good lightweight teams. I do believe DA is playing better but I still ain’t seen him outplay the other QB’s in the playoffs our defense is why we’ve been winning. Can he beat the heavyweight teams baby..Georgia or ND? We will see. Y’all need to not think we don’t want to see DA do great things because we do, I just ain’t seen it yet.
This latest lightweight team took #1 Oregon to the brink. Lost on a last second FG. They are good. Southern you are just way out of it with this "lightweight" stuff...Boise is no lightweight...They are a physical team with plenty of talent...We manhandled a very good football team last night...You need to get off your logo worship...Your big dawg sacred cow SEC conference is getting their asses kicked and are being exposed for the frauds they are...Georgia caught a break so they get to wait another day before they get their asses kicked and I am watching Texas playing Zona State without their best WR not exactly looking like a juggernaut...One thing I learned over a lifetime of playing and watching sports is you never know...You better come prepared...You better respect who your playing and you better execute no matter what the sport is or you are going to get beat...You can't help but wonder if Bama thought they were just going to throw the ball on the field show up and beat Michigan...The bullshit went on for the last 15 years or so because they controlled who was in...They more or less played with themselves...Those days are over now...They can try to influence the outcomes by seedings and venues...Texas has a home game in the semifinal which to me is a disgraceful...To me it is also ridiculous that you have Ohio State playing Oregon in the quarter final...They should avoid 2 teams from the same conference playing each other til the semi finals...To me that was another form of manipulation..The bottom line is the farce has been exposed and the SEC has been exposed...They are not the most talented and best conference and the days of them playing with themselves is over...As a result they are being exposed for the frauds they are...
One final comment on this big dawg nonsense...The ONLY advantage some of these powerhouse programs have over what you would call "lightweight" teams is depth...But to think these teams can't win these ballgames is just pure ignorance...
@the-funeral-director Texas may not have a home game in the semis, because Arizona State just tied up the ballgame.
Man I love ESPNU Skycast.
@the-funeral-director what about all the ass kickings Ohio St and Oregon got from the SEC teams? Clemson also kicked that Ohio St ass a few times. If SMU and Boise are as you say why does it matter that Ohio St and Oregon play today. We both know SMU and Boise St are good teams but lightweights. Boise St is Sugar Ray and Penn St is the great Larry Holmes lol
Gonna come down to a Texas field goal attempt most likely
Yeah somebody forgot to tell Arizona State this game was supposed to be a blowout...What a gutsy ballclub...Missing their best WR and losing their best DB to a suspension for targeting from the Big 12 championship game and giving this fraudulent outfit all they can handle...I love it...
To the original post...Allar isn't ready for the NFL and will be best served staying another year at Penn State...He very well may be the #1 QB taken in the draft NEXT season...
How is that not under review for targeting ?
It was targeting...They are protecting the sacred cow...That was the definition of targeting...Disgraceful...A farce...
