Just heard from a friend who is a physician and has close ties to the PSU athletic medical staff. He said it is doubtful that there will be football this fall. One of the reasons is that the linemen, who at 275 plus pounds and carry a high percentage of body fat, are medically classified as high risk. ā€œThose guys could die if they got covid.ā€Ā

I am still holding out hope but after just reading that a bunch of West Virginia players tested positive, I’m starting to think more about 2021 that 2020.Ā

Yeah, it's looking less and less likely that we will see football this year. It's a shame for the players, because we all know every season is an oppurtunity to shine and up their chances for an NFL contract. However, safety is the biggest concern.

Thanks for the update.

Roam, how can I take this crap seriously when these cities let these punks destroy property and let some people have peaceful protest and the virus doesn’t get mentioned but won’t let us let kids go to school and fight you on going to church because of the virus? I’m beginning to think we’ve been had brother. I think the virus is real but it ain’t as bad as they say or they wouldn’t let some of this crap go on. It’s hard for me to believe anything anymore.

@southern-psu-fan Like most things that get people stirred up, the truth usually ends up being somewhere in the middle of the two extremes.Ā

Well, considering that mere weeks after all the protests started all of a sudden coronavirus showed back up in a big way... I think that can probably be used as a way to show that yeah, we need to stay away from groups.

Church always baffled me anyway to be honest, I don't know why people believe that they need to go to a church to talk, pray, or commune with God. For those who believe, isn't he with you all the time, everyday anyway? I think he'd rather people take caution and be safe than risk it for worship.

Not saying I don't believe in the power of community that the church provides, but I just don't get the people saying God will be mad if they are kept from it for a few months.

I agree. Between protests, political rallys, and summer vacations, I don’t think there is any way to tell what spread the virus and what didn’t. Or, all of the above spread it. Who knows. They said the other day that it is too rampant in AZ and TX to even do contact tracing.Ā

Don’t many churches provide live services on the internet for their congregation? If so, why press the issue? Or, maybe, open the churches and still provide the live internet service for those who still aren’t comfortable attending yet?Ā

I brought up this exact point on another message board and I was ripped by one poster who said those OL and DL players aren’t obese and that despite their weight they are in great shape. While that may be true, they are still obese by definition and are at a higher risk for COVID complications.Ā

I don't know much about too much, but I know this thing WILL end and it is up to us to make it happen. Wear a freaking mask and let's knock this thing down! If you are waiting for a vaccine, best of luck! All a POTENTIAL break through vaccine is going to do NOW is help the Stock Market reach an all time high by the end of this year.Ā  It ain't going to end this virus before this time next year....and you CAN BANK ON THAT!! 1/3 of this country will NOT even get the vaccine due to fear of side affects.Ā  If people think 150 million non vaccinated people are not going to keep this virus around, then they are smoking too much weed! You get this down to a manageable level and then hope for some type of pharmaceutical remedy that limits the seriousness with a quicker recovery period.Ā  The key here is NOVEL.Ā  There is a reason they are using that term.Ā  They are learning something new every day and until we get another 6 months of data, this is the life we will be living for a while!

I am 55% on seeing football in the fall! Down from 75% two weeks ago, but still not conceding to a cancellation. However, if we have another two more weeks like the past two weeks, I am changing to 90% chance of early Spring football.Ā Ā

Ā

GO STATE!

The one guy i know that got it is over 50,100 lbs over weight (yes, lineman size) and diabetic.Ā  He stayed home for a week and was better.Ā  Tested positive a month later.Ā  Sorry, a lot of the facts are bravo sierra.Ā  CDC has people as positive if they meet 2 categories with no test or a negative.Ā  Ā We know the medical profession has incentives to classify people as COVID 19 even if they die of terminal cancer.Ā  If I test possitive 3 times am I three separate cases?Ā  The credibility of the tests are garbage and your civil rights are gone if somebody with covid says they were near you.

I get it, I am telling them I was with the OSU football team.

Is it true you can't get it if you are protesting or rioting?

Scare tactics and dishonest numbers abound.Ā

Yep, lets get back to normal business and stop acting like a bunch of wussy’s and playing right into China’s hand! I’ll wear my mask but I ain’t hiding in no basement brother you can believe that. Again I will wear my 😷. I’m talking to the healthy people not the elderly or anybody that’s been sick with medical conditions. If you’re healthy get your ass out and get back to what we do baby!

Not a good idea.Ā  We are still learning about this virus.Ā  The hospitals are maxed out. Some of them don't have a room if you really need ergent medical attention.Ā  They are steering patients away to other locations which are miles away.Ā  Not good if you have heart problems.Ā Ā

Dr Fouci said the impact of not sending kids back to school would be worse than the coronavirus so I’m thinking he wants everything to go on but he wants us to be as safe as possible and wants everybody wearing a mask. I’ve listened to this guy from the beginning and if I go down all I can say I listened to the best and things just didn’t work out but in the big picture that’s what JESUS is for lol. Ā  I hate to say it but everybody won’t survive this virus China got one on us but hopefully they’ll pay for it one way or another and if we don’t make them pay they’ll do it againĀ

Fouci while being an expert has his 'conflicts of interest' including China and WHO and similarly to any expert in a field he is oblivious to lots of realities.Ā  For example your dental hygiengist thinks you should floss after every meal and do some research on fluoride jn your water.Ā  Ā Then we have the car manufacturer that wrote the maintenance schedule on your car.Ā  Why so much?Ā  Maybe cause dealers make $ doing it?

Hospitals full?Ā  Maybe somewhere that they are rioting or at the beach?Ā  Where i am they tried to extend my wifes minor surgery from in patient to over night, a little poking around and one of the doctors 'off the record' said they are empty and need the $.Ā  Too much of the first hand info I'm getting does not match up to the story line and agenda.

We all agree the COVID 19 numbers are inflated right?Ā  We all understand that new positive tests may include people with prior positives or are dependent on the amount of testing?Ā  We do understand that you don't even need to have a test to be a case per the CDC?Ā  Go to the CDC website and read it.

---

Clearly some sports are more flu prone than others, football, soccer, rugby, hockey and basketball are contact sports.Ā  Tennis golf not so much.Ā  It is funny how this is 'terrible' until we need our fix of entertainment and we best like full contact entertainment šŸ˜‰Ā  The lack of consistency and political agendas is interesting.Ā  Football bad, protesting good.Ā  Golf bad, rioting good.Ā  School bad, living it up at beach good, shopping at Walmart without mask bad, eating in a restaurant good, gunshop bad, abortion clinic good.Ā  Representatives working bad, governor kings good.Ā  Rights bad, safety good.

Tell me what the data says after you fake the data.

This falls under 'never let an emergency go to waste'

Yes China needs held acountable but too many of our politicians have been bedfellows with China for to long.Ā  China has bought a lot of influence.Ā  That one female reporter grilling Trump, her husband is a China promoter on The Hill.

Push REPLY and go back to ignoring this mess Underlion.Ā

I'm just done arguing against the tide of misinformation. No matter what you say, people will believe something they heard, gathered from some random site, or have some personal anecdotal evidence and even though you know it's factually incorrect you'll never convince them otherwise.

just curious, what are the incentives for the medical community if they classify a death as cv19?.. not being snarky, I just missed that one.

@lionbacker99..You're exactly right. While the Catholic Church has reopened churches, they still havent imposed, the obligation to attend Sunday Mass on the congregation..And being inĀ  a high risk group, just age alone, I certainly dont feel comfortable attending/visitingĀ  a church..

BUT, as you point out, you can find services streamed from virtually any religion, simply by googling and scrolling the web. Since March 15th, I have found a Mass to watch every sunday; its actually been a very interesting experience, as Ive found different churches from around the country..I long for the day I can enter a church again, but for now, its simply not necessary for anyone to take that risk..

having gone to Catholic schools K-12, I consider myself a devoted ( maybe not devout ) Catholic. I find comfort and community in my parish and I volunteer as an elder and usher. But..I won’t attend mass till all this over and I just can’t get in to tv mass. Our parish priest says that’s ok.

Southern, you might be right that at least this virus started in he exotic foods market in China though personally I don’t believe it was intentionally developed as a weapon in a lab. You say you want to hold China accountable but what exactly do you want China to do or what the US expects in recompense?

China knew they had a problem and they sent their people all over the world and if I remember right 8 thousand come here after they new there was a big problem. China made this a world problem when it probably could’ve been mostly contained in China. Whatever this pandemic cost the US make them pay for it plus I’m sure the government has sneaky ways of gettin back and we’d probably never find out about it. Make ā€˜em pay or they’ll do it againĀ
